GOP the party of fiscal responsibility? Sure, NOT!! When members of the U.S. House of Representatives are sworn into Congress, they are given a pin as a symbol of their membership. That pin, in the past, was green. But according to Politicoâs E&E News, the House Republican majority spent a reported $40,000 to replace it with a pin that had a different color â as they thought the word "green" sounded too liberal. The article published Friday reported, "Behind the decision to throw out the pin issued to 435 lawmakers: politics. Republicans believed that the outgoing Democratic majority of the 117th Congress picked the bright green color in honor of the Green New Deal, a progressive policy conservatives revile." Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) acknowledges that fellow House Republicans ditched the pin for strictly political reasons. Dumain quotes the GOP lawmaker as saying, "I heard some guys and gals grumbling that it's an environmental tribute or something like that â which, hey, I like the color green, I have a lot of John Deere equipment in that color. But those of us in resource-based districts get really tired of how big environment groups are already kicking our heads in over how bad we are.⊠I think there's some fatigue about the environment being used as a weapon."Meanwhile, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), meanwhile, confirmed to E&E News that the color green was picked for the pin because of its environmental connotation. www.rawstory.com/gop-spends-40k-to-change-color-of-congress-pin-because-green-is-too-liberal/What are these pins made out of? Even if they made 500 new ones, that's $80 per pin.

Did this come from the new RNC? Republicans seem to be in denial that their entire problem with abortion is not the messaging, it's their position. I thought this was an excellent point about the GOP's problem with abortion. And a satirical take on it www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/03/14/kamala-harris-abortion-campaign-2024/The GOPâs big problem is that what Trump ought to say is the one thing he never, ever says: Iâm sorry.
www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/12/15/abortion-policy-republicans-struggling-satire/Opinion GOP baffled that âWe Donât Care if You Dieâ is not a winning slogan By Alexandra Petri December 15, 2023 âRepublicans struggle as they keep getting forced to talk about abortionâ â Politico headline, Dec. 15
Huh! It turns out âWell, with luck, you probably wonât die being forced to give birth to a nonviable fetus over the objections of your doctor!â â even if you say it in a warm, human-sounding way â is not actually what people want to hear when deciding how to cast their votes. Fascinating!
People keep hearing stories like that of Kate Cox, whose medically recommended abortion to end a nonviable pregnancy and preserve her fertility was shut down by the Texas Supreme Court, and saying, âWait, is that actually your policy? Jesus!â and it turns out that âYup!â or âPretty much!â is not a winning answer. Also not great: âPlease hold while the Supreme Court figures out if it wants to impose even more restrictions on what medical care you are allowed to receive!â
Ruth Marcus: Think there's an abortion exception for medical emergencies? Texas shows that's a sham.
âNobody would wish this to happen on anybody,â Ron DeSantis said this past week during a CNN town hall â which is true, except in the strict, limited sense that policies the governor and presidential aspirant has signed into law in Florida have imposed that exact situation on people. I guess itâs the thought that counts! Maybe he imposed it, but he didnât wish it.
Nikki Haley said âwe have to humanize the situation,â which, I guess, are words! âSo, you want a 13-year-old to be forced to bear her rapistâs baby at tremendous physical and emotional cost?â has one easy answer: âNo!â And if you arenât allowed to say that, thatâs a problem! A messaging problem, of course.
âWait, you seriously donât want any exceptions, and you are going to weaponize government against people with reasonable medical needs?â is a question to which âDonât worry your pretty little head about itâ is not a great answer. Or maybe they could stop trying to dehumanize half the population? No. Itâs the words. Itâs got to be the words.
Thereâs no changing the underlying policy. Thatâs out of the question! Itâs just unfortunate that so many people see these stories of people struggling to get their abortions and say, âThat could be me!â The time-tested Republican response of, âNonsense! You donât have a uterus!â only works about 50 percent of the time. If it fails, they are stuck saying things such as âYikes!â and âWoof!â and âWith a condition like that, are you sure you should be voting?â
I wonder why this is so difficult to talk about! Maybe what Republicans need is a better slogan. âSometimes, too many rights are actually a burdenâ and âDo you ever get tired of making decisions for yourself?â and âRelax: Weâve got it! But let us know if you think youâre bleeding to deathâ turn out not to be winners, as far as slogans go. Same for, âYou Donât Get a Say, and We Donât Care if You Die,â even if you say it with a lot of warm eye contact. Also bad: âYou Donât Get a Say, We Will Laugh at What Your Doctor Says, and We Want You to Do Everything But Die.â
Maybe they should add some exclamation points at the end to make it clear there are no hard feelings! Or try the TikTok approach of calling these âGirl Rights!â like âGirl Dinner!â but itâs a plate of just one or two rights, not enough to support a whole person? Hmm, what about this isnât a winner?

Gingrich says it all... Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA), a major Trump ally, has said that the GOP's goal should be to eradicate what's left of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal and President Lyndon B. Johnson's Great Society (an extension of the New Deal). Social Security was a product of the New Deal, while Medicare and Medicaid came out of the Great Society. Krugman warned that Social Security and Medicare, like Obamacare, will be in danger if Trump wins in November and is surrounded by "right-wing ideologues" in 2025. The economist wrote, "If he gets back to the White House, he'll do for Social Security and Medicare what he did in his almost successful attempt to replace Obamacare: leave the drafting of legislation to right-wing ideologues who do understand how the programs work â and who want to gut them. ⊠So, will Social Security and Medicare be on the ballot this November? Definitely. Biden has a clear plan to preserve these programs; Trump, wittingly or unwittingly, would probably help wreck them." www.rawstory.com/renowned-economist-predicts-trump-will-wreck-social-security-if-he-wins/

Pence has anounced that he will not endorse TFG!! It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year," Pence said. "There are profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues, and not just our difference on my constitutional duties that I exercised on January the 6th." "Only FOUR of Trumpâs 44 former Cabinet officials have endorsed him," noted former prosecutor Ron Filipkowski. "His VP wonât endorse him. Trump left him Pence at the Capitol to fend for himself and didnât care that Penceâs life was in danger. It seems unlikely that Pence will actually endorse Biden, though.

Katie Britt doesn't know when to stop... Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) isn't staying silent, doubling down on her efforts to blame Joe Biden for alleged consequences of his policies on the border. Britt was recently embroiled in scandal after her GOP State of the Union response was found to have been false or misleading because parts of it appeared to blame Joe Biden for injustices that occurred in Mexico many years ago. Days later, she sent out a self-pitying fundraising plea in which she declared her heart was broken. *** On Friday, however, Britt raised the same issue for which she was put in the hot seat. "These are the stories the media doesnât want to tell," she wrote. "Theyâre the real consequences of President Bidenâs willful border policies." She then said Biden "could stop abusing his parole authority today if he wanted to." "Instead, he continues to put American families in harmâs way," Britt added. Britt was sharing a post from a Fox News reporter, who suggested a "Haitian man arrested for raping a 15 y/o disabled girl at a migrant hotel in Massachusetts Wednesday night came to the U.S. via the Biden adminâs parole program for Haitians, which allowed him to fly into JFK airport in NYC direct from Haiti in June 2023 w/ a 2 year parole grant." The comments weren't positive. @chuckthrock wrote, "Everyone needs to fact check this because you have unrepentantly disqualified yourself as a credible source of information. Especially, but not exclusively, on anything having to do with immigration issues." @artcandee then added, "You tried blaming something that happened under Bush on Biden. You found out." @strictlychristo said, "Nothing you say or tweet will ever watch the stench off that State of the Union response from you. You are permanently tainted and will always be reviled by every sensible American." @brun13 also said, "Media leaves out a lot of church leaders molesting children. Have you looked into that at all? Iâm assuming you have, you know. For the children." www.rawstory.com/fact-check-katie-britt-biden/

Peter Navarro want SCOTUS to stay his reporting to prison Tuesday!! Too bad! So sad! đ Peter Navarro wants the Supreme Court to hand him a Get Out Of Jail Free card, court records show. Navarro, former President Donald Trump's onetime trade adviser, filed Friday an emergency application to stay his four-month sentence on misdemeanor criminal contempt of Congress charges he hopes to appeal. A similar request to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals was slapped down Thursday, prompting Navarro's last ditch efforts before the nation's highest court. www.rawstory.com/peter-navarro-jail/

McConnell's sister-in-law didn't just die, she died in a pond under water in her Tesla and no one including rescuers could break the windows!! In a heart-wrenching incident that has sent ripples through EV Giant Tesla, the automotive industry, and high society, Angela Chao, the billionaire sister-in-law of Senator Mitch McConnell and a prominent figure in international shipping, met a tragic end in Texas. The accident, involving a Tesla car plunging into a pond due to a reported reverse gear mishap, has sparked intense discussion around vehicle safety, rescue challenges, and the complexities of modern automotive design. The Unthinkable Turn of Events Late in the evening, following a gathering with friends, Chao found herself in a life-threatening situation when her attempt at a three-point turn on her ranch resulted in the Tesla vehicle reversing into a pond. What followed was a desperate and ultimately futile struggle for survival, marred by the vehicleâs reinforced glass windowsâa feature designed for protection but which, in this case, became an impenetrable barrier to rescue efforts. The ordeal drew a swift response, with emergency services and friends alike rushing to Chaoâs aid. One friend, in a remarkable show of bravery, dove into the pond in an attempt to rescue Chao. Despite their efforts, and the arrival of additional support including dive teams and a tow truck, Chao could not be saved. link
