Longtime Donald Trump friend and confidant Roger Stone came under fire on Sunday after posting an unrelated photo in an effort to show that the state of New Jersey could be won by Trump in the upcoming 2024 election.

Trump spoke in the Garden state on Saturday, and was criticized for his apparent slurring of speech. Conservative lawyer George Conway went as far as to challenge the mainstream media for failing to properly report on the former president's "aphasia."

Trump bragged about the size of the crowd in New Jersey, but it was also reported that some people started leaving early.

Stone attempted to Bolster Trump's New Jersey rally on Sunday.

"Yeah, New Jersey is in play for [Trump]. Could Joe Biden draw a crowd like this?" Stone asked, including a photo of a large crowd.

The problem for Stone, however, is that the commenters instantly identified the photo as fake.

The attorney replied, "Why do rest of us feel the need to breathe?"

There's more speculation about Hannibal Lecter comments..


Legal analyst Marcy Wheeler, of EmptyWheel, suggested the nefarious intent of the otherwise meaningless story about a murderous fictional character.

For what it's worth, Wheeler said, "I suspect Trump's Hannibal [Lecter] comment was intended as a veiled threat to Stormy Daniels."

"But notice how everyone is talking about THAT and not that he elicited a $1B bribe from oil execs?" she added.

She's not the only one to think along those lines.

@eventaille echoed those similar sentiments.

"Let's think, who would T want silenced, threatened by a Hannibal Lecter type serial atrocity? Witnesses at his ongoing trial? HOW IS THIS NOT WITNESS INTIMIDATION? If I were a witness I would feel my blood chill, hearing this. I do anyway, this is a threat to us all," the account wrote Sunday.

The Home Depot PAC has so far spent nearly $3.19 million during the 2023-2024 election cycle, having made donations to hundreds of federal- and state-level political candidates and committees, according to the FEC.

Nonpartisan research organization OpenSecrets calculated that 50.92 percent of Home Depot PAC's donations in this election cycle went to Democrats and 48.25 percent to Republicans. During the 2020 and 2022 election cycles, the PAC favored Republicans, according to OpenSecrets.

"We may not agree with every position taken by a candidate or elected official, and a contribution to an individual should not be taken to mean agreement with every position taken by such individual," Home Depot's corporate webpage on political engagement said. "However, we use these criteria and our Core Values to make decisions that allow us to have a seat at the table to engage, both on the issues on which we align and those we disagree, to support our business, associates, and communities."

A key shortlister for former President Donald Trump's vice presidential running mate thinks America should crack down on how many people are allowed to have divorces.

Ben Carson, a former neurosurgeon and Republican presidential candidate who served as Trump's Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, outlined his plan in his book, "The Perilous Fight," released on Tuesday, for getting rid of "no-fault divorce" laws, according to NBC News.

“The reason this matters is that no-fault divorce legally allows marriages to end much more quickly than in previous decades," wrote Carson. "When there are relatively few legal or financial consequences connected with divorce, it’s natural for people to gravitate toward that option when their marriage hits a rough patch."

Ironically, even as divorce has become easier to obtain, it has become less frequent. Divorce rates peaked around 1980 at 5.4 per 1,000 people per year, after laws around it were liberalized, but have trended back downward ever since and are currently around 2.4 per 1,000 people per year — even as marriage rates are simultaneously rising.
