I'm trying to eat more raw veggies and would like to try making my own hummus, rather than doing a store bought version. Does anyone have a hummus recipe that they swear by? Thanks!

You could buy your favorite, some celery sticks, and try to recreate it. Find the best base recipe on allrecipes or another site you like, and then slowly add seasonings. I’ve been meaning to do that with the Sabra Roasted Pine Nut Hummus. My BFF and I did that with a guacamole we really liked. We may or may not have consumed waaay to many Tostitos and avocados that afternoon.

Not to hijack, but I'd love to hear if anyone has a favorite tahini. I've tried a couple when making homemade hummus and wasn't satisfied.

The one I purchased previously isn't on Amazon anymore (boo!), but I much prefer roasted tahini. If you haven't tried that yet, do! It does make a difference in the flavor.

My dd (12) makes hummus like an old cook would…. She takes 2 cans garbanzo beans and drains them (save the water). Turn o. The food processor and add the beans. Add 2T (or until you think it’s “enough”) of the water. Juice whole lemon and add it. Add olive oil until you feel it’s enough. Add at least 3 cloves of garlic. A few heavy pinches of salt. Add everything but the bagel seasoning. Taste. Add whatever it needs and keep processing. If it’s not smooth enough add more of the saved water. Once it has the taste you like, remove to a serving or storage bowl. Finish with a sprinkle of everything but the bagel on top and serve. I gotta say that it turns out great every time. No tahini or peanut butter needed.

You can add toppings like roasted garlic, roasted red peppers etc.
