I used to be able to put links at the end of a post. Not anymore. Same thing when trying to direct a response to a specific person.
Also, when I try to get around this and add a link to elsewhere on the internet, then type text before the link, whatever I have typed is added to the link. It doesn’t matter how many spaces I add, or how I try to get around it.
It used to be easy to put in links later in the post, or to include someone’s name with the @ symbol later in the post. Has anyone else had issues with this?
I’m using an iPad. It’s relatively new, but these issues only started recently, long after I got my iPad.

I haven't had any issues. I am going to be trying it out here. I do know our storage was full so not sure how that affects links. scrapnnana I am tagging here to see how it works and so far no issues. And here is a link to ACOT to see how that works out: www.acherryontop.com/

When using a desktop, I go to the globe icon to add a link. On my iPad, using Tapatalk, I go to the brackets to add a link. Sometimes the @ symbol doesn't work if the person has changed their username. If it doesn't work, I hover over the person's name to find out what the original username was. Don't know if this helps or not! I have not tried to add a link or include anyone's name today.

The only thing I've had trouble with lately is quick quoting -- where you select part of a post, the option pops up, and it creates a new post quoting just that part of the original. That disappeared with some MacOS/Safari update and I keep hoping that another one will bring it back.

Thanks for all who responded. So it appears to be just on my end. So odd. And it’s only been recently.

scrapnnana, I can't use the "quick quote" function with my iPad. And I sometimes have difficulty cutting and pasting from it as well. And I had to get used to a few quirks on my new iphone that were different from my old one. Hope you figure this out.

Yep, that is the only issue I've had lately.

I assumed she is right because I have I Macbook Air and i have not been able to quickquote for a couple of weeks now. Maybe longer

I think so - I used to have it, and no longer do. Firefox/Mac. But it might be one of the (many!) privacy extensions ex-naying the ProBoards functionality. I'll miss that less than being tracked, tagged and advertised ceaselessly to, so no complaints.

I have an iPad and I’ve had problems tagging people off and on. Not sure what’s up with that.

Testing the quick quote function. I’m on an iPad using Safari. Have been linking and @ing with no issues today.
Eta: LOL let me try again I pasted the wrong thing.
ETA2: Reading the rest of the thread maybe what I’m doing isn’t using quick quote? I copy what I want, select the quote button in the reply box, and paste it there.

Quick Quote was a little pop-up button that appeared near the cursor when you highlight text in someone's post, so yes you're doing something else (the same thing but manually).

I think the Quick Quote issue is actually a Safari (Apple browser) thing, rather than an all Apple or just Mac-OS or Apple iOS thing. It works correctly on Chrome or Firefox or whatever non-Safari browser my dh has on his MacBook, but not on Safari on either my iPad or my MacBook.

Just played around a little bit after reading this and I think I know why the function is called "quick quote".
In order to get the quoted instructions to work, you need to be in "Reply" mode. If you're in "Quick Reply" mode you can use "quote" and it automatically quotes the entire post or (if you're not on Safari) highlight part of a post and use the Quick Quote button (which I figure is some sort of contraction of quick reply quote).

BTW, thank you dewryce. I now know that I CAN quote part of a post by switching over to Reply instead of Quick Reply. I wouldn't have poked around and found that were it not for your post.

Although now I'm starting to wonder if the folks having issues with tagging or linking are having issues only in Quick Reply mode. Maybe try moving over into Reply mode when it happens and see if it works better?

Maybe try moving over into Reply mode when it happens and see if it works better? On my iPad, I have to use Reply to tag or link. There are no options to do that in Quick Reply. The issues have only been a recent thing, though, which is why I wondered if something had changed.

Shakti www.scrapbook.comBoth of these are in quick reply. I used to be able to quick quote just by highlighting part of the post and a "quick quote" button would pop up, and it would put me also in quick reply. The button no longer pops up. Macbook/Safari ETA: going back and re-reading your posts, I guess you knew that already. But thank you for posting about the Safari issue. At least now I know why.
