Back when I was born hospitals (at least in our area) sent home new moms with all of the little plastic items that were used for them while they were there--a little water pitcher, a cup, a rectangular bin, and a kidney dish. My mom had pink ones.
So we always used that pink rectangular bin for that purpose.

When I was a child I used a metal bucket my mom used for cleaning the floors. When my kids were little I bought the big plastic tubs of margarine with the lids. When they were empty they were the sick bowls. I thought everyone had thought of using them until my son got married and wanted a sick bowl. His wife thought he was crazy. We still have some in the closets.

This conversation brings back so many memories!
Our puke bowl was a large kitchen pot, like for boiling spaghetti noodles. It was stainless steel with black plastic handles. I have no idea why my parents used that specific bowl as the puke bowl.

We had that bowl, but not as a puke bowl. craftymom101 I bet it was the size. And possibly also because water could be boiled in it to clean it and it’s not porous.

We usually puked in a waste basket or toilet on the first puke. After that, Mom gave us the kitchen scrub bucket to keep by the bed.

Sorry for the unfinished post. My puppy jumped into my lap and post was sent! I puked almost every day during my 4 pregnancies. It was awful. We have always saved the plastic round containers from margarine. Those were used for puke. We also kept one in both cars. It was easy to pitch, just put the lid on and throw away at gas station.
