I am going through all my paper and holy cow, why did I buy so so so much Prima Archivist? So much-like the whole collection, with multiples of the journaling cards. It is so dingy and yellow and parchment-y and while I like the vintage typewriters and such, why on earth did I need so much of it hahaha. For reference, prima.typepad.com/prima/2014/12/presenting-the-archivist-collection.htmlI need to say to myself (loudly) "Just say no to vintage Parisian collections!" I always fall for them, never use them! What collections or type of thing did you/do you over buy and think, "Whhhhyyyyyyy? "

That is pretty but I would find it hard to use also.
I usually do ok using what I buy but DH also buys for my stash (at flea markets, yard sales, thrift stores) and there have been some that I've really struggled with. I did just go through a paper pad he bought and put a bunch of it into the donation pile

The worst paper pad, was a Tim Holtz one, I think it was vintage Christmas or holiday themed, DH bought on Amazon, that looked like someone rubbed soot on all the papers, it was soooo dark and grungy, I did not use any of it... it might have been this one. I bought an Imaginesence, or however you spell that brand, collection once that was school themed called Geek is Chic. The patterns were cute, but it was coated in some kind of glossy plastic and nothing wanted to stick to it, and you couldn't write on the papers... Since I bought it online I didn't know about the coating until it arrived in the mail. I don't think I ever used any of it...

I bought a pad of DCWV glitter cardstock. It smelled so bad I had to throw it out !

Paper with an image on it.... in a corner or half of the paper....cookies, a palm tree, a cocktail, a bbq grill, a waterfall, a piece of luggage, an airplane, a spoon, etc... on it. I've always had a hard time scrapbooking around a "built in" image. I finally stopped buying paper like that, and donated the paper that I had like that....because I never used it.

A few years ago I bought a couple of Graphic 45 collections. They were pretty and art deco but I only used a few sheets. Lesson learned don’t buy papers with a lot of images.
And then there was a paper pad at Michael’s by Amy Tangerine. Ended up being way too bright and cutesy.

Some garish Paper Pizzazz paper pads when I first started scrapbooking. I saw four of those pads today at our local second hand craft store. Hoo boy, am I glad papers have evolved since then.

Hoo boy, am I glad papers have evolved since then. I had a couple of those books from Paper Pizzazz-style that I recently donated...like a how to type book. I almost felt bad donating them, they are so awful in my opinion. But they were in good condition, maybe someone still likes them...maybe?

An 8x8 travel pad that I *had* to have for my DD’s graduation card. And I bought 2 of them. I mean they are fine, I’ll eventually probably use them but I definitely did not need 2.

Pretty much any Photo Play collection. I generally like their themes but I have a terrible time working with their stuff. In the collections I've purchased, the colors did not match like there would be 2 different reds that didn't go together. I stopped buying their stuff a few years ago.
I currently have this Wildflower collection by Simple Stories which is BEAUTIFUL but I am struggling with it a bit and made a mental note to not buy collections like this in the future.

I have this line I love it! I use larger sections of matching cardstock with the patterns as smaller accents peeking out. Probably not the best use of it but it works for me. I also have used it on tons of cards.

Mine is a few Mintay paper packs. What was I thinking? They are beautiful, but Im not a fussy cutter of their accents, nor do I use paper like theirs very well on layouts.

I bought the entire Bella Boulevard To the Moon collection and I'm really struggling to use it. We live on the Space Coast... but we don't visit the NASA museum often! I don't know what I was thinking. I need to go through older photos and see if I have any that work with this collection or sell/donate it. The collection is ADORABLE, but I am never going to use everything I purchased!
ETA: fixed typo

I made sure to get the paper pad, plus extra open stock paper and all the journal cards. The way I stocked up, it was like I was going to use it on EVERYTHING. I think I have used 2 sheets...if that. I actually have a ton of Prima. Some of it is really beautiful but I struggle to use it because of the lack of embellishments. I also feel like my photos are not really formal enough for the papers. I feel a challenge coming on--cards or a layout, some of it is going to get used.

Mine has to be all the EP collections with mermaids, lol. My granddaughter was into them for a little while, so I bought a bunch of paper but don't have a lot of photos to use it with. Maybe some cards?
I also struggle with the Photoplay brands, I have some collections that the paper is a weird kind of shiny that I don't care for. I can't remember which collection that was though.

OMG!!! This is the paper my SIL was using to scrap her tattoo(s) at Archivers one time and this lady was so mean to her. Said lady thought she should should be scrapping something "nice" not tattoos. My SIL quit scrapbooking not that long after that, she felt like she didn't fit in. Edited to add, that paper is wild, but I don't totally hate it lol.

Now there's a question kmage! I agree with those of you who didn't buy (or use) those DCWV paper pads because of the smell. Some of the papers were beautiful but the smell gave me a headache. And I still have some of those old Paper Pizazz papers and did use some of them (circa 1999). And I WILL make a l/o about macaroni & cheese one day. Some other papers from the past that I puzzle over my thinking that I would use are SEI and most of KI Memories. Just not my style at all. And I bought lots of K&Co collections that I still love but really can't make work with my photos. I try to be a little more choosy these days.

I thought the color blocked SEI was my style, but I haven’t managed to use much at all. Just got rid of even more of it this weekend. I had forgotten about Paper Pizazz! I got rid of most of it ages ago except I think there are some solid metallics and stripes in my scraps. I also just donated a bit of KI Memories. The only bit of it I kept I put in my paper for vintage type photos.

kmage That woman was wrong in giving her unsolicited opinion and I’m sorry your sil felt discouraged after that. That’s very disappointing. I remember some really cute cherry print papers that were part of the Caution Girl line also. I think the “why did I buy this” is more about it not fitting my pictures or style at the time. There was also a CI collection that came out about the same time with tattoo like images and I loved that line! One of my favorite pages was made with that collection.

Totally...I don't think much of that paper didn't (and probably still doesn't) fit my style either. I feel like that line also had some music paper that I thought was very cool at the time but ended up having a hard time using...all those skulls, lol.

Echo Park 'That's My Boy' collection. While a few of the papers were easy to use, sooooooooo much of it was hard to use. And the embellishment packs were really hard to use.

I bought way too much of Shimelle’s Main Character Energy. I was nervous about this one, although I saw what craftymom101 did with it and it was amazing. But for me, I don't know. While I love love love Shimelle's style of scrapbooking, I have never found her collections to be easy to work with for me. I might pick up a couple sheets if I see it in person (after all, it's Shimelle's new collection! ) but I'm nervous to buy a ton.

I don't remember this one, so I went off to look. I can totally see how it would be hard to use. I think I passed on this one due to the boys will be boys stuff in it, although I love a collection with navy. I also don't care for the top student/smart stuff...as a parent who's child had a ton of challenges in school, these types of ephemera go right into the trash. I do really like the colors in it though, but some of the patterns would be very challenging.

Yeah, while I love to use those colors for DS because they fit him and his personality, the phases never fit him. He isn't a typical teen. He doesn't have a cell phone, is in the SDC class, doesn't hang with bros, can't eat any food...so I shop by colors.
