Hello - I’ve been away from these boards for a LONG time, but I’m home resting up from a broken navicular bone and can’t walk on it for 2 weeks. I’ve been getting back into my scrapbook supplies and was wondering if anyone still has scrapbook idea books that they love. I have Cathy Zielske’s 2 books plus some of Becky Higgins’ sketches books, and I think I still have some older Ali Edwards Design books. Does anyone still use idea books for scrapping, and if so, what are your faves?

I've got two Becky Fleck / PageMaps books with cards that I pull out once in a blue moon. But most of my inspiration and ideas comes from online these days.

I think that since trends and styles change so quickly a lot of people go online to find inspiration. Many companies have their design teams post layout and card samples. You could also check the gallery here.

I don't use idea books, but I do love scrapbook generations sketch books. They also offer free sketches. For me, I just need a good photo placement with some basic paper ideas and then I am ready to go.
When I prep for creating, I break my tasks up into printing photos and put them on top of 13 x 13 bags. tHen I pick a sketch that I could use for that many photos, pick paper and ephemera, and create titles or just write an idea on a sticky note. All of those go into separate baggies (per two page layout) and then I type up a list of layouts. I usually do one year at a time, so I just set my list out and pick which layout makes me happy. Last year I did 128 layouts in 120 days. I also like to print pics off of Pinterest for inspiration.
Every rare once in a while, I'll see a scrapbook or paper magazine and peruse that for current trends or techniques.

I love this idea, 950nancy. Where do you get such large bags, if you don’t mind me asking? I love the plan of having it all together when I’m ready to scrap.

I love this idea, 950nancy . Where do you get such large bags, if you don’t mind me asking? I love the plan of having it all together when I’m ready to scrap. I bought 1,000 of them from the GT Bag company that seems to have changed names. Here is the link. The bags are the 12.5 x 12.5. I am sure you can find smaller amounts from different companies, but these seem to be 2ml thick and they are pretty sturdy. I reuse them all of the time. www.actionbags.com/product-category/high-clarity-bags/polypropylene-hang-vent-hole-zip-bags/

Ya'll gonna laugh at me.. I still love my Lisa Bearnson QVC books. I have all four five of them. I haven't pulled them out in awhile (I haven't been scrapping much and just trying to get back in it).. but I used those books ALL the time. I think they are still good, I just now use them for a blank layout idea and use more updated supplies. I definitely got my money out of those books.

I really like working with a sketch. I use both Allison Davis for Scrapbook Generation and Page Maps a lot. I've bought a number of the Scrapbook Generations books and classes, and I also have a Page Maps book (probably the same one as AussieMeg with the cards), but both have a lot of great free content as well.

And they sometimes came with little kits/albums. Wow, that’s a blast from the past - I’ll bet I still have these somewhere 😊

I have these Meori totes that I put on top of my Raskog carts. They hold the bags I mentioned perfectly. They can easily hold a year's worth of layouts/photos in them. I used to tote a full wagonload of stuff to crops. Now I can just pull out the tote and take it to a crop, or I just leave it in the cart when I am home and just grab one baggie. The baggies also store really well in IKEA's cubes too.

I still have some CD's collecting dust that had ideas, but I tossed my huge collection of assorted idea books and magazines a few months ago after I offered them on Facebook Buy Nothing pages and there were no takers. I now follow my favorite companies on Facebook and Instagram and save images to my computer or Pinterest of the examples I like.
