Anyone watch this show? I’ve only seen on season but it was pretty fascinating. I’m excited for him. He’s amazing and I think he’d win tbh. Can’t wait to watch him next year!

OMG that's amazing! I've wanted to go on that show for a long time (not that I'd win, I just think it would be the challenge of a lifetime and I know I wouldn't be the first one to tap). I've watched every season including the most recent one on Tasmania, and the standalone ones called The Beast where they get dropped off with nothing but an animal. One of my good friends used to edit that show, but she doesn't work for that company anymore. A&E or whatever the parent company is. She also used to edit Project Runway Anyway I'll definitely be watching! When does he film? Can he tell you where?

We've watched all the seasons! Very cool - you need to let us know who he is so we can root for him!!

I have to confess that I've never heard of this show. It sounds like a survival type show... guess I need to check it out.

That is amazing! I really like the show. I think my husband would do really well on the show as well. He loves to hunt / bushcraft / fish / be alone. He would really miss his dog though! lol

My DH loves that show and is fascinated by it. I’m often surprised by the people who tap out first, especially when they’re these ultra macho dudes who end up not making it a week without “missing my family” or something like that. 🙄 Seriously?

I love that show. Let us know who he is so we can cheer him on. (As long as he isn't one of the "I'm doing it for my family" contestants or one of the really boastful types. They tend to get on my last nerve. LOL)
Can you tell us what his "hook" is? Or his "skill?" I don't know what to call it. The think that is either unique about them or a specific skill they have they think will keep them there the longest.

we love that show.. and it is really a mental game. dh and I both think the isolation would not get to us.. I spent a summer in a lookout alone.. no phone. and dh is just self sufficient. but who knows.
it is fascinating.. often it seems people put too much energy into the house and not enough into food preservation.

Particularly if they go on and on about their military background. They're usually among the first to tap. Your macho "military" background doesn't equal being able to go it alone without a gun. And yes, I love my family, but they would be just as happy to see me after 100 days and prize money as they would after 6 days. I would send my husband back if he tapped after a week because he missed me. 🤣

When mine goes off to the woods to hunt for two weeks every fall he barely even calls home so I would hope he’d at least last a month.

Aw man, that means they haven't even started filming the next season. I love that show! The contestants can really surprise you. Some that are so dedicated and push themselves only to tap out at the very end. Some of the contestants annoy the crap out of me - like the one last season who whined and whined every day about his son. He never mentioned the rest of his family or his other kids, only his son. UGH! It's always interesting to see how each person builds their shelter. Does anyone remember the guy who didn't even make it one night? He saw a bear across the beach and said NOPE. I want to say he was former military? putabuttononit we'll have to have a season-long thread when it comes out! It'll be fun to keep up with how your friend is doing

we love this show! he just has to remember to hang on. everyone clocks out when they start missing their families. i say hang on for your family. win that money and title of last one standing! but also be good about finding food whether it's foraging, fishing or hunting. gotta keep those calories up. heck, even gain a little weight before the show so you have a little extra padding. good luck to him! i hope you tell us which one he is when his season comes on.

Sometimes the men see themselves as The Mighty Hunter and they neglect all the other things you could eat, like minnows and grubs and worms and some root plants.
I loved the ingenious fish trap the guy made in season one that used a plastic bottle to trap a bunch of minnows. He made a stew out of them.
I've only ever seen a couple people bring salt as one of their items but I most definitely would. First, to flavor all that nasty stuff, and second because my blood pressure runs low and I bet that would being me down faster than anything else.

That’s one of our favorite shows! We’ve watched every season. It’s something how you have favorite contestants almost right away. I’m always in awe of the skills some of the people have. Some of them, not so much. I was so annoyed at the guy who quit when he stupidly lost his fire starter, even though he had a healthy fire going at the time. He could have at least tried to keep it going.

That woman had a SAUNA made out of rocks and bones and moss and whatever else. She constantly caught fish and probably could have lived out there forever. I was amazed at her. And the guy from season two who had a kitchen, a chess set, furniture, you name it and went home because he missed his girlfriend. I like those kind of things much better than just watching someone outstarve everyone else. Grizzly Island wasn't that fun to watch because there just wasn't anything to eat there.

I like those kind of things much better than just watching someone outstarve everyone else. Grizzly Island wasn't that fun to watch because there just wasn't anything to eat there. Yes and no. I was disappointed, because I thought she’d win, and I wanted that. And it WAS a competition. But I also admired her spirit. Her values. It’s those ver attitudes of not caring, of not doing it just for the money, that made those people able to thrive like that. That’s why I like this show above the other survival type shows. I like seeing ingenuity, resourcefulness, plant knowledge, and willingness to eat more than a fish or a small animal. I like seeing them fashion shelters and utensils for living, and things that help them pass the time and use the materials at their disposal. The worst times people had to go home were the guy who smoked his fish and instead of eating it, rationed it out so slowly he got to thin and they sent him home. He was otherwise doing so great at everything else. His shelter was amazing. The other one, Carrie (?) I think her name was, she was so good, but same thing, got too thin. I hated to see her go, and then the second, they made her leave, that meant the last guy won 😠.

It’s one of our favorites! Not too long ago there was the contestant, Mikey-who was in 2nd place (I think) but was doing it to get money for his son who has autism, and they couldn’t afford his therapy. So the money would help with that. Well I know there was a go fund me started by another contestant that season and they surpassed expectations. So I hope they got his son thr therapy he needed ❤️ He really tugged at heart strings!

Oh, my, there is no way I could do that! I'm probably more OK with being alone than a lot of people, but I need to be able to read or something. (We're leaving out the part that I have no wilderness skills or anything!)

My DH’s favorite was the guy who made his shelter by digging out a good sized pit in the ground and built this huge stone fireplace and chimney in it. Because it was partially down in the ground, with that rock chimney he was able to keep it nice and warm and dry in there when it got super cold. I think in order to win that show people have to be at least a little bit nuts.
