Prom is today! It is SO windy out and the ground is saturated from all the rain we've gotten, so we had to move pics to my back deck, which is not what I wanted, but... whatever. Here is my son and his date with her prom bouquet! I think the florist did a lovely job... ____________________________ DS is going to prom next week. Last year (same date), we got his date a wrist corsage, but it was so heavy, it just flopped all over the place, and she took it off shortly after she got to the dance. Last year, I learned small poseys or bouquets were in style, so I would like to get her that. I called the florist and they said to bring in a pic of the dress next week so they could recommend flowers/colors. Just thought I would ask the peas what ya'll would suggest since her dress has MANY colors. I didn't know if a solid single color (maybe purple or dark red with an accent spray of something gold or light blue,) or white? My friend told me to call the florist she is getting his boutineer from, so I did ask the mom, but I haven't heard back. His prom is next Sat, so the florist needs to know what I want by Wed. Here's her dress...

Really pretty dress.. Bridget in MD yes, take the picture into the florist. Wonder if she has a favorite flower or color? I would tend to go lighter, one color, or two shades of one color... Some green leaves..

Since the dress has a pattern, I think I would go one or two colors, not a big variety. The eyes need to rest somewhere, not be struggling for a focal point.

I would have your son ask her what colors she wants. That’s what my kids did.

What will your son be wearing? Is he picking an accent color to complement her dress? I would pick one color as well. Whichever color she wants to stand out. That dress is lovely.

Assuming your son picked something to match the dress, I would do the bouquet in the color he picked for his outfit.
Also, I would try to look at pics of bouquets of proms in your area (know anyone who went to that school last year?) and see what style is popular (though the florist hopefully knows).
Here, the girls don’t want any greenery or filler. It’s popular to have one type of flower with the blooms closely packed together.

What does one do with a posey while at the dance? Lol lay it on the table with her clutch I assume. I think that’s what she did with the corsage last year when she took it off. It was just too heavy. When I called the florist she said she wasn’t even doing corsages this year!

He picked a dk gray & black tux, with black bowtie, since she has so many colors, he just went with black. This is a pic of the tux he chose: her mom just texted me back and said that the dress is being altered, so if she doesn't get it back in time (there is another prom the same weekend), she will be wearing an all black dress, so I think whatever he picks for either dress, if it is one or two colors, it will work. I was trying to find pics of prom from last year from any of the high schools nearby, but so far they are all corsages... one type of flower and tightly packed small bouquet is exactly what I was thinking!

That dress has a pretty busy pattern so I would go with only one or two colors max for the flowers and I’d pick lighter colors so the bouquet doesn’t blend in.

It's a pretty dress. I think I'd do more with the dark red color although that might be challenging in spring. I think white is too much contrast. I'd do dark red - roses, calla lilies or carnations - with something in a citron green to make it stand out against the dark dress.

My niece received the cutest circlet/bracelet with small flowers that matched/coordinated with the colors of her dress. It was made from elastic and Velcro and the flowers were small, no more than a mix of 3/4 to 1 1/4 inches in size woven with small leaves and ribbons.. it was adorable and practical and lightweight. And wasn’t a nuisance like big roses or other flowers were.

How is she wearing her hair? Could he offer a flower or a clip to coordinate?
The outfits are stunning!

I agree a single color or maybe 2.
My daughter got silk flowers and has been able to keep them. She has them in her room at home and some at her apartment at school.

Around here, groups meet at a park beforehand for pictures and the moms take the bouquets home lol.
I don't know why the wrist corsages fell out of fashion. They were my favorite thing about formal dances in high school!
