Any suggestions on where to print pictures with white borders where I've already added the borders using an app? A while back I printed a bunch of pictures from Persnickety Prints, which has always been my go-to picture printing website. I used an app to put white borders on a bunch of them, including some where I made grids with white space between all the photos, prior to uploading. (I prefer to do this rather than use a website function that adds the borders because I want control over how big the borders are relative to the picture.)
When I got my pictures back, pretty much all of them where I'd uploaded the picture with a border were instead printed right out to the edge of the photo with no border. Even the some of the ones where I'd set them up as a grid had no border, so there were white lines between the pictures but not at the edges. (Though it was inconsistent - on the grid photos, some came out with a border and some didn't.)
Any suggestions for places to print where I'm going to reliably get the results I want? Thanks!

When you uploaded the photos, some websites you have to edit the photo to get it to fit 4x6. I can't remember if Persnickety does that or not, but maybe that's what went wrong? Also, have you contacted them to see maybe what went wrong with the printing? Maybe they will reprint them for you since they're not what you were expecting. I print at home so I'm no help otherwise.

I use persickity as well. I include a message with the order ( there is place for that) and I use apps that they say that they are compatable with ( Project life and Diptic are two that I am aware of.
Good luck!

I know for me when I do this in the Project Life app and then print somewhere they never print correctly. Through some digging. I've discovered this is due to the lack of bleed space. I believe the only way to ensure you get proper borders is either to do it within the printer's available options, or utilize a program like Photoshop where you can create an image that is slightly larger than the print size to allow bleed space and adjust in the preview accordingly.

Another cause could be that digital photos actually measure 4.5" x6". The easiest thing I know to do is either, size the photo to 4x6 first and then add the border OR drop your photos into a pre-sized template (2:3) ratio adjust it and then add the border. It won't guarantee you'll get your border when you print, but your odds are better.
You can also try using a thicker border, that way even if some gets cut off you should still have a reasonable amount left.

I think you can ask them to print with no bleed. This happens even without the borders - I will crop a photo exactly how I want it, then the printer expands it for bleed, and things get cut off. So frustrating. That’s one reason I mainly print at home.
