I own several skirts from RipSkirt Hawaii (which, despite the name, is an Australian company). They are so great for travelling, especially to beach locations. I took mine to Thailand and wore them almost every day. They are lightweight and dry really quickly if they get wet. They are now selling two different styles of pants as well. I don't have any of the pants, but people on their FB page are raving about them. RipSkirtHawaii - Bottoms

Wear what you like. Why do women allow themselves to be dictated by trends? Agreed. I guess I feel like everywhere I go, I see people in such different ways of dressing. I almost never wear dresses or skirts. (Had too much of that as a kid and young adult.) I would dress for the heat and humidity. We just got back from Key West and I was so glad I had mostly shorts. It was hot. I do get if you don't like them though. Kohls has some very light weight capris currently.

I just wear dresses and skirts in Hawaii. Why do you need pants? :-) Because dresses and skirts are not comfortable or appropriate for certain activities. Because dresses and skirts don’t look so good with comfortable sneakers if you are going to be doing a lot of walking.

I hate sounding like a broken record, but if you have a Costco membership they have quite a few options on their website, many with name brands. I bought some really nice ankle length travel pants from there a while back in black, navy and gray that are wrinkle resistant, quick drying in case you need to give them a quick wash in the sink or tub and they look nice dressed up or down.

I love that…how is the wrinkling? Because I don’t like to iron and am terrible at it.

Just to add another option you may or may not have considered, what about skorts? I have several that I use for travel, in a lightweight material - they're cooler than pants, capris, or crops, and can dress up or down. I also like the ripskirt that AussieMeg linked.

What's the difference between crops and capris? Crops are essentially ankle length or just above the ankle, so pretty useless for hot weather. Capris are just below the knee. I think crops are also 7/8 pants. Hard to find capris now, hopefully they come back. OP, hope you find some nice things to wear! Enjoy Hawaii, we were in Maui last month.

Wear what you like. Why do women allow themselves to be dictated by trends? The whole world is full of women who don't follow trends and only wear what's comfortable and what they like. Ever been to Walmart? Maybe she just wants to look a bit more pulled-together while she's on vacation and wants ideas from contemporaries, just a guess. I'm tired of the reverse judgement going on all the time. totally get that! I ❤️ fashion.

Here in Florida crops are fine. 4-6" of fabric doesn't make a big difference and I don't want to look frumpy. I wear skorts or skirts and boy short undergarments with walking sandals. I lived in Hong Kong which is akin to living in a dishwasher with the heat and humidity and skirts were a lifesaver.

Check Tommy Bahama or White House Black Market. Great option for Hawaii. I also like Rip Skirts. Have a blast in Hawaii!

I was recently at the mall and noticed JCPenney had lots of summer stuff out. QVC.com is also a great place to shop for all things warm weather.

I’m confused - when did the OP say anything about only buying the latest trends or even caring about what is “in”? One of the replies said capris were out of style.

At 5'4" I'm too tall for petite but sometimes too short for regular.

I own several skirts from RipSkirt Hawaii I've seen ads for these and have been wanting to try them. Thanks for the review. I bought my skirts in length 3, because I prefer to cover my knees. I wish I could wear the shorter style! But the good thing about length 3 is that it has pockets. This came in so handy when we were doing tours. I was able to keep my phone and some other small items in my pockets.

This came in so handy when we were doing tours. I was able to keep my phone and some other small items in my pockets. How is the sizing? It's pretty good. I am an AUS 12-14, which is US 8-10. I bought the Large length 3 rip skirts, and they are perfect. I bought a second hand one in Medium from the Australian Rip Skirt resale FB page, and it was too small. The good thing is, if the size you buy is just a bit too big or small, you can use the extra velcro that comes with the skirt to adjust the size. The velcro that's already on the skirt allows you to adjust it a fair bit anyway. When (if!) I eventually lose weight, I should still be able to wear my Large skirts for a while, because I will just wear them lower on my hips, rather than right up to my navel.

Wear what you like. Why do women allow themselves to be dictated by trends? I agree with this. I wear what *I* like. I never worry about fitting in or what the current trend is. If I purchase something that is currently a trend, my purchase is based on cuteness and how it fits-looks on me.....not because it's trending. I love capris and crops. For a tropical, beach type vacation....I wear capris, crops, knee length and maxi length summer dresses. I don't wear shorts (just personal preference).
