I spent about 3 hrs at Crafts Direct this morning, the parking lot was jammed and there were police around, some directing traffic when I was there. The line to check out wrapped around the store and was estimated to be about an hour or so. My friend and I shopped together for a while and then got in line and took turns looking. The scrapbook stuff was only 15% off, but some of the home decor stuff was 50% off, Easter 75% off, (expected) so not a steal by any stretch but we still wanted to go while they still had stuff. I got a couple stamp and die sets I thought were cute, a few Copic markers and a couple 6x6 paper pads that I liked. I think that is the last time I'll be there...end of an era. www.craftsdirect.com/OMG. I don't even know what to say. I am so sad...

I did, a fellow scrapper sent me the news. I haven't been up there in years, but the store always seemed so busy. This is a sad day for anyone who loves art and crafts.

While I don't live in MN, I am from the area and always stop by when I visit. I am super bummed and realize I am now going to have to buy everything online.

Sounds like it was a difficult decision for them to make. So sad to see another store fold.

I’m also sad to hear this. I’ve been going there since I lived to MN in 2000. I know the family that owns it and many of the employees have been there for years.

Oh, I'm so disappointed! What a shame. It's a great store and has TONS of items. We have family in St Cloud and I would stop every other month or so to shop there because our Michael's and JoAnn's in the Minneapolis area are so limited. It really just leaves Hobby Lobby in our area to shop for anything other than Cricut merch.

I'm not sure where you are (I am just a bit north of the cities) but do you ever check out Anchor Paper Express in Plymouth? It's kind of my go to now, Pine City is farther although I will stop in when I am driving back from or to Duluth, but Anchor Paper is pretty good, they get new stuff in regularly and the last time I was there the lady working said that they are working with HoneyBee Stamps to start getting their stuff in. They also have a back clearance room and are not shy about putting last seasons paper back there at 50% off. It's fun to go check out. Some stuff is 20% off, but some is 50%.

No, I’ve never been over there! I’m on the west side and Google maps puts me 8 minutes away. I need to go to Home Depot tomorrow, so I’ll check it out! I was thinking about Bachman’s, but I really need to wait a few more weeks for garden stuff.

Make sure to sign up for their rewards, you get a 10 dollar credit every so often and it gets you the 50% off in the back room on some stuff, plus specials sometimes.

BTT shoping update in first post. Thanks for updating! I tried to go yesterday but when I realized how busy it was (as sons as I turned the corner onto their street) I decided I would wait. I was going to drive by today but forgot. I’ll probably check in there early next week. I really don’t need much since I was just there a few weeks ago. I almost don’t want to go because it will be so sad but probably will stop by at least one more time.

This news is just really sad. It’s hard to describe how epic this store is (to be “was” ) I really appreciate the update on shopping there during the sale. I considered going up there but had some time limitations and I thought the line might be too long. Sounds like it was far more than I expected. And at 15% off scrapbooking, I really wouldn’t buy enough to justify it. Maybe it’s better I can remember it without the closing sale. I remember once driving up there to buy things about also cut a whole big bundle of die cuts on their cutters (since they had such a wide range of cutting dies.) And just finding whole lines, and older papers, and being able to walk around and put things together from their huge selection.
