Good morning and Happy Eclipse!
This morning I'm meeting my mom friends for coffee and yakking. We hope to be able to catch some of the eclipse, too. This afternoon we're meeting our interior designer in order to choose living room furniture.
Dinner will be lamb chops, tater tots and salad.
What's on your menu?
What are you up to this week? Apart from some home renovation appts, like the window guy coming to measure tmw we don't have anything except a ballgame on Wed that I am so looking fwd to. You have no idea how excited I am. I love a day at the park watching my team. Dh found great seats. Unfortunately, they're great seats cause my team sucked wind last season. Nevertheless, it'll be a good day.
Happy, enjoyable, fulfilling week to everyone in this great tribe!

Please let us know what you pick out for your furniture. I love to hear about renovations scrapmaven! I'm making a rice/white bean bowl that has this as it's description: Rice has never tasted so light and fresh and springy! Roasted asparagus and brown rice get elevated with a zesty orange vinaigrette that tastes like sunshine, and are paired with fresh herbs, juicy citrus, chewy dried fruit, plus buttery pistachios and avocado. Spring has sprung! Sounds delicious, doesn't it? I'll food prep post eclipse this afternoon. We have clear skies today and I am in the 96% range. So it should be good. It is also going up to 73 degrees today! Open windows!!!! I'm working on a little project at work. Should be done this afternoon. I don't have many meetings this week which is good.

well.. I am going out this evening to lead singing for girl scout leaders.. so may just have breakfast for dinner. and. make it early.
sunny day. will walk the dog soon, have to get a blood test later today.. and of course, go outside and see the partial eclipse.
went and saw the remodeled house for sale down the block.. totally transformed but a little too modern for my taste. it went from a 2 bed, 1 bath home to a 5 bed, 4 bath home. talked for a while with the realtor about the current market. and after coming home, I think dh is more on board with doing a major remodel of the house. we would have to move out for 18 to 36 months. that would be a. pain. Because we have a view of the ocean that can't be blocked, it would be more worth it to reinvest in our home.
looking around at the current real estate for sale in our town.. there is actually a condo for sale for 35 million.. amazing.

I have Crazy Rummy this afternoon. DS is going to a funeral for a colleagues' father. They are meeting at the office then carpooling to another city. He usually works from home on Monday so he said he probably won't stay at the office afterwards because he can't imagine working in a suit all day. That made me laugh. Welcome to my world as a banker in the 70s/80s. Dinner is undecided at this point. In honor of the eclipse:

scrapmaven I hope you enjoy the game! DH and I may go to a game this summer if his dad comes to visit. We're not usually big baseball people. jeremysgirl That sounds tasty! I hope you get some answers soon for your finger. DH had a fibroma removed 10 years ago from his finger. He was in and out of the OR very quickly. (His insurance at the time didn't want it to be at an outpatient facility.) ntsf That's insane! The house we considered putting in an offer on sold for just under $400k. We decided we didn't want to do a down payment of ~55% and still owe a ton. (Which is why the area where DH had his interview in January was so appealing - we could've bought a house in cash.) For now, we'll just keep on saving and see where life takes us. I had to cancel 2/3 appointments this morning because Miss Bess had an upset tummy all weekend, so we wanted to get her checked out. Her regular vet didn't have any openings, nor did the cat-specific clinic near us. They gave me a recommendation and where I took her was great. Super nice staff, and she stole the show as always with her sweet face and curious nature. She has lost a little weight, but she's nearly 12. They did some labs, and those will have results tomorrow. She's been crawling the walls since we got home, so I think she's just fine. I'll have the appointment I kept at 3 (which is the one that I feel is most important right now), and pick up DH later at work. Wishing you all a great week!

We are home! We landed in Munich just after 1:30 - 20 minutes later than scheduled, as we were 20 minutes late leaving Dubai - and were home by 3:15. Best news at airport as we left the plane and came to passport control - Germany now allows Permanent Residents to use the ePassport gates, which saves so much time compared to lining up in the 'Non EU' lane.
We are mostly unpacked and have been grocery shopping. Dinner is going to be simple, after 2 weeks of eating out and 24 hours of plane food. We will just have ham and cheese toasties.
Nothing much planned for this week. I need to make a menu for the rest of the week and shop for it, but that's it. Tomorrow will be fairly lazy - I am going to let myself sleep off the jetlag.

I made chicken stock the other day, so I’m thinking I’ll do something with that. Some kind of soup, or chicken spaghetti, or something. I’m still trying to learn how to NOT cook for an army when it’s mostly just me. Last week I had to toss out some of my Boursin pasta dish I’d made (which was really delish, even if it wasn’t exactly what I should be eating, and I won’t make it again), just because there was so much and I couldn’t eat it all, and I didn’t get around to packing up any of it for my sister or my neighbor while it was still fresh. AussieMeg, I’m sorry to hear you have COVID. ☹️ I haven't had it yet, but I’ve lost my sense of taste both times I've been through chemo, and it ain’t fun.

I shared these on the craft thread but I want to show my dinner friends. I'm planning on decorating my Christmas tree this year with all crochet ornaments. So I've been working on a ton. All of my ornaments will be shades of blue/gray/silver/white. I also made a few in red/pink/greens for my sweet friend James who collects vintage Christmas stuff. I thought he might enjoy these old fashioned looking ornaments.

We are making turkey stock. We pulled chopped up onions, leek leaves, parsley, herbs and Parmesan cheese rind out of the freezer to go in the broth along with carrots etc. At the end of the day we will freeze some of the broth and make turkey soup with the rest of it

Now if my walking buddy will FINALLY come home from her trip out west, via motor home...She and her DH have been gone since the first of November I really miss her!!!!

jeremysgirl Thank you! 💗 She's had a ton of energy since we got home, so that makes me happy. She's been trying to get into our kitchen cabinets and was lording over me from a bookshelf earlier. She's a spunky little thing, so I think she's gonna be okay. I just worry since she's getting older. 🥹 She's really the only pet I've ever had.

We grabbed some groceries this weekend, but still don't know what to make. We may have rechauffe meatloaf from last night. I may do BBQ chicken tomorrow... It is nice here today too. Too bad I have to be inside! But will be able to enjoy the eclipse a bit when it happens. jeremysgirl - those are cute ornaments!

Hey all! Last night of restaurant food and then home tomorrow! Have had a great time visiting friends and family, but miss my puppy and bed! We were supposed to see the eclipse today, but it's pretty cloudy - we'll see if mother nature cooperates! Take care all!

I'm flying home from DC today so dinner will be what I can grab at the airport. I saw that there was an &Pizza across from my gate and that's one of my DC favorites so probably what I will have. I'll miss the eclipse too as I'll be inside the airport so I'm kinda bummed about that. My trip was great but time to sleep in my own bed and cuddle my dog!

Am I the only one who doesn’t really care about the eclipse? I think it’s cool but have no need to wear the glasses and stare at the sun. I’ll stay inside and find something to do.
The grandboys are off school today due to the eclipse. The younger two are at childcare but the 12 year old is staying home by himself for the first time. DH and I picked him up and took him out for lunch. He’s back home now and will play video games for the two hours until DDIL gets home.
Supper will be pork quesadillas made with leftover porkchops.

Umm taylortroop some of us would prefer to be out staring at the sun in funky glasses than in an office on a Monday afternoon. 😂 I'm outside. I just told Jeremy that this needs wine. 😂🤣😂🤣 Meanwhile he's sunbathing because it's damn near 70 here. Make it a party girl! 😘

jeremysgirl.. cute christmas ornaments!!
btw, my house is not worth millions.. just several.
we bought it when interest rates went way down to 12.5%!!!
I think being in the totality makes it totally weird outside.. not so much with a partial.

Hi guys, I am back from my trip to Arizona. We had a blast and the weather was beautiful!! I don't know how many miles we logged, but it was a lot! We went to the Grand Canyon, Williams, Sedona, Phoenix, Tucson, Tombstone, and Bisbee. Our home base was in Casa Grande. I will post a pic from my phone in a bit. I did read the thread a couple times while I was away. I hope everyone is doing well. I've been hard at it in the office for a few hours now. I think I will be all caught up this afternoon. I did preplan and get what I could done before I left. Dinner tonight is eggroll in a bowl. I actually feel like cooking!! Shocker!! I already have my next 2 trips planned out for later this year! Traveling is fun!! I never was really much into it!

I thought it would be darker than it was for 90%, but it was still an eerie looking light out there. I just peeked from the office windows. A friend who has a farm said the roosters were crowing and the other animals were restless. She was in 100%.

We stayed in but could see it getting darker and darker from the livingroom windows. I’m not a party pooper but just couldn’t get into the hype of it all. Now the sun is shining and we are sitting on the deck.

It was a bit dark here, but nothing earth shattering. So, I didn't bother going outside. We could see through the windows, since we were out for coffee. Ods called, because he got a parking ticket. Normally, we put tickets on our fridge. It is then named the wall o' shame. Sadly, when he asked if he should bring it home to place on the fridge I told him "no". It's only fun when the recipient of shame can see your disdain. Sigh. In my house, sarcasm is not just a noun or adjective. It's a lifestyle choice. jeremysgirl, those ornaments are adorable. I cannot wait to see your tree.

I didn't do anything for the eclipse. Unless you count waiting at the doctor's to see what they want to do. I couldn't handle one of the ultrasounds, so off to another imaging place I go (the first place I called didn't have any availability until May...uh, no). Waiting for them to send the order to another place where I've gone before. They also did some blood work. Could be fibroids, could be my wonky birth control that's been known to be weird. But best to be safe.

I think it's hilarious your wall of shame scrapmaven! Once when Chloe was maybe 13 she shoplifted. The court gave her a nominal judgement. I paid it. And then I tracked on the calendar all the chores she needed to do to work it off dollar by dollar. It was my own version of the wall of shame. 🤣
