Not to delve into an AI and art ethics debate, it just instantly looked AI to me, and if it isn't, I'd think they'd want to avoid any appearance of that...so I'm guessing it is. And honestly, I love the concept, it's gorgeous and moody and feels a little whimsical and dangerous, and it's different. If you entered a "storybook forest" prompt into a Doodlebug illustration AI engine, you'd get cute trees and bunnies and fawns smiling at each other. And nothing wrong with that! (DB's my favorite) But I feel like we get a lot of that.

It's really hard to tell with such small pictures, but it does look suspicious to me. Paper packs / crafting supplies is exactly the kind of industry I'd see jumping on the AI bandwagon to cut out the expense of actual artists, unfortunately.

Yes I doubt they hired someone to paint these. The Enchanted Mystical look isn’t something I like so I wouldn’t be interested in purchasing anything like that anyway.
It makes me wonder how much AI designed paper we’re already buying.

And it doesn't even work well as craft paper! Those huge 'one single image' sheets are notoriously difficult to utilize, or you end up covering up 80% of the artwork anyways. There's a reason most patterned paper uses repeating designs.

It does have an AI look to it and scrapping seems a likely industry for AI art (unfortunately)

I want to read the story that goes with those pictures, but I don't think I'd ever use that paper. I have no idea how it was created.

I did a quick reverse image search to see if they popped up on one of the art license sites like Creative Fabrica, where a lot of companies are sourcing images for their papers and embellishments. I didn't find any exact matches but there were tons of other similar digital art scenes, many of which were on AI sites.
I don't know if many of the small crafty manufacturers are actually paying artists and designers to create their products in the way we imagine they do. I've seen plenty of products that are licensed artworks bought from Creative Fabrica or similar, arranged onto a 12x12" canvas. The artist is just getting a few bucks from whoever wants to buy these images. My fav IACB pieces are all licensed icons and fonts put together in a pleasing arrangement. Tim Holtz talked about his process of finding cool art online that he could buy to turn into stamps with his name on them - he's not doing the art himself.
I'm not certain that there's all that much difference here. I don't think Brutus Monroe went to the AI and prompted these themselves - more likely they bought a licensed artwork from someone who used AI to make it - so is it particularly different whether it's AI or not? (I do acknowledge the issue when AI slurps up artwork by people who didn't opt in to training the machine and it's used to create work in their style which cuts into their ability to make a living.)
I think they're cool images, I like the style, but would never use them for cards.

There's a reason most patterned paper uses repeating designs. They don't work well for scrapping but they are great for junk journaling. I junk journal and buy a lot of this kind of stuff for that purpose.
