Delta Dawn I'm so glad to hear you are seeing an actual orthopedic doctor. You've been dealing with too much pain! ❤️

I'm sure I had a Filet'o'Fish sometime in the 70s or 80s, but I don't think I've had one in the 40+ years since! tmarschall I hope you get answers today. Please let us know! I have listened to a couple of podcasts lately that talk about open marriages. There is no way I could ever in a million years do that. But if it works for some people, good for them. I just feel that it would end up badly in most cases. scrapmaven, that sounds like quite a story! I hope you have a better experience this time.

I did my first ever "Click-and-Collect" grocery order on Monday, at the supermarket where I usually do my grocery shopping. My first and last! There were SEVEN items missing from my order, including one item that was a substitution for another out-of-stock item. Two of the items were things I needed for dinner that night, and another was an item I would have used to cook something else. I ordered lots of fruit and veg, which I knew was a bit of a risk, because I am quite particular about my fruit and veg - especially apples. The Pink Lady apples that I got were not up to the standard that I would have chosen for myself. And the Imperfect Mandarins were not just imperfect, half of them were fricken mouldy!
I will never do an online order again.
They did actually put in an extra packet of minced beef, which was $10 worth. My friend said to not feel guilty about it, just consider it a bonus to make up for the mouldy mandarins and the inconvenience of not being able to cook my dinner due to the missing items. (I will get a credit for the missing items.)
Oh, and this morning I didn't have enough conditioner for my hair, because that was one of the missing items.

I have a friend whose husband has an open marriage clause (with men). She wants her old marriage back but her husband cannot get rid of the need for men. It’s a terrible situation for her.

I just hit checkout for a grocery order. Wish me luck! I don't usually have a lot of issues. But we'll see.

Good luck tmarschall ! I made two posts and still didn't even talk about dinner! We had chicken wings and chips. Quick and easy. I also made some hot custard with bananas. I made the custard from scratch instead of using custard powder, and after I had mixed everything together, I went to add the egg yolks. Guess what? No eggs! Grrrrr that makes me annoyed! There is a shopping list inside the pantry, all people have to do when they use the last of something, it to write it on the list! DSO felt bad (or maybe he just really wanted custard), so he went up to the shop to buy eggs. Anyway, custard made from scratch is so good, and it's really not that much more of an effort than making is with custard powder. Is hot custard a thing in the US and Canada? I know it is common and popular in the UK, as it is here.

I just got a text from the supermarket to say that $30.30 will be credited to my [supermarket] online account, and can be used towards any future online order. But I don't want to ever use that service again!! It's my own fault, I should have asked for a refund instead of a credit.

The surgeon said my arm would hurt for another couple of months. He showed me the break and I could see it. I took a photo of the x-ray. Today was a rough day. The care I have received for this injury has been nothing but stellar. I have had to wait twice and the rest of my appointments I have been seen immediately. We have a friend who does nothing but gripe about our health care and I have nothing but positive things to say for the level of care I have received.
Tomorrow is going to be a great day!

tmarschall I'm glad nicks tests are coming back good. But it a head scratcher that his health improved a bit and now has declined again. I'm so sorry. This happened to me this past winter. And it wasn’t until a third round of prednisone and the inhaler called Advair did things get better.

I know it is common and popular in the UK, as it is here. It is with me, but then I’m a lifelong Anglophile. We can get Bird’s Dessert Powder in the British foods section at our supermarkets. I make baked custard from scratch, but I don’t think I've ever made a hot custard sauce without the Bird’s. Probably most Americans don’t know and don’t care. Also, just for the record, I order and pick up groceries frequently here, and have since COVID started. Generally speaking, there’s no problem. No missing items, unless they notify me and ask about substitutions. And the meat and produce they pick out has been almost 100% lovely. This is at my local Raley’s supermarket. I haven't tried any other stores. ETA Raley’s is a regional NorCal chain.

This is at my local Raley’s supermarket. This doesn't surprise me at all. I love our Raley's. lucyg, do you ever fill out the Customer Experience Cards? I've done about 6 of them and they are all on the Employee Bulletin Board. I figure most people bitch about things, I'd rather give glowing reports when someone does something great. AussieMeg, I've never heard of hot custard. Is it like egg custard? I used to make it and LOVE it.

AussieMeg , I've never heard of hot custard. Is it like egg custard? I used to make it and LOVE it. I would imagine it's the same thing that you're talking about. Made with milk, sometimes cream as well, cornflour, vanilla, sugar, eggs. This is the recipe I use: Homemade Custard I don't have dessert very often, but if I want a quick sweet fix, I will make custard and have it with sliced banana. This is mine from last night:

Hope you had a good day at high school leannec! It was good! The classes weren't LOUD like the other day. I will say that I don't enjoy the length of high school blocks ... over an hour each ... I'm used to 50 minute classes ... I was watching the clock!

DH was off today so we went to Half Moon Bay for a walk and a late lunch. The weather was perfect and our golden was so happy to be back there. I was not feeling great today but the views make up for it.

Is hot custard a thing in the US and Canada? I know it is common and popular in the UK, as it is here. Proper custard is something I miss here. Birds or Fosters Clark custard powder is one of my common food items to bring back when I go home, or when someone is visiting us. My kids joke it is the price of coming to visit here - ask for a grocery list! Germany does something they call 'vanilla sauce' which is similar, but generally thin - I like my custard thick! - and it doesn't quite taste the same. It will do in a pinch, especially as it comes ready made, but I'd rather take the effort to make it myself. I haven't ever made it without custard powder - that could be the answer to my problem. Also, now I want bananas and custard, which means walking to the shops as I don't have bananas! jeremysgirl - could you share the title of the memoir you are reading. I have been reading quite a few memoirs lately, most of them about people who have led very different lives to mine and this sounds like it would be interesting. I have a sort of friend here who is polyamorous - she is married to one man (I think for legal reasons, as he's European and she's American, so it made it easier for her to get residence), but both of them have other partners - sometimes the same other partner (she's bisexual also). It just all sounds so confusing to me.

I've used Fosters Clark custard powder forever. Then last Christmas I decided to make it from scratch, and it was so easy. Honestly hardly any more effort than using custard powder. I also like my custard thick! The recipe I posted in the link in my earlier post turns out quite thick, or you could reduce the amount of milk if you wanted it even thicker (I think it's perfect).
