It's probably from the 1960s. In fact, my parents book looked very similar to this except this one is about 10x10.. so not a full big album. I bought it at an estate sale for just a couple of bucks. Not used.
It's got the gold tabs on the corners which I thought would be cool for a junk type journal. The pages are wrapped in plastic. Not the sticky kind. My thoughts were to cut off the plastic around the paper and leave the gold tabs on the corner. I started with the back page, the problem is that once I get to the tabs the plastic is underneath it. I tried pulling it out. Then cutting around it. I don't want to ruin the paper. There is still a bit of plastic next to the gold tabs I can't seem to either cut, exacto knife or pull it out. Any suggestions?
Or do I just use the plastic as the base? I don't think that will work either. ummmmm, think think think...

Sounds like it could be a fun project! (or a headache)Once you do the fun things to the pages will the remaining bits of plastic near the tabs be noticeable? Maybe you could use a ceramic cutting blade to cut through the plastic without as much risk of damaging the paper (I think) demoed here: http://instagram.com/p/C4k1s2Hsmbn

Sometimes I get a little too anal for my own good. It's probably not that noticeable but I seeeee it and bugs me. I will order a couple of those.. can't hurt to try.. they are pretty cheap. Thanks for the help!

Well I decided to tackle another page and did it a little differently.. once I cut a slit in the plastic it tears easily. If I can make the tear next to the gold tab, it naturally kinda goes along the side of the tab, even a little wavy it is tearing pretty good. Maybe trial and error is helping!

If you do a junk journal, could you use it learning (or practicing) a different technique for each page?
