My husband and I are attending a wedding in Nashville in the early/middle of October (10.10). We are driving from Florida to Nashville on Day 1, the wedding is in the evening of Day 2, and we will leave Nashville and drive east to a cabin in Banner Elk late afternoon of Day 3. We will have the morning/early afternoon of Day 2 and the morning/early afternoon of Day 3 to fill with a couple of activities and I would love some suggestions! We have never been to Nashville and are open to walks/hiking, wineries or bar hopping, zoos/aquariums, nature centers, museums... we have a lot of interests! We also love good food and quirky restaurants with a unique menu.

If I had never been before to Nashville, I would:
-make going to on the backstage tour of the Grand Ole Opry a priority, even if you can't make a concert. -1/2 a day of barhopping is enough for me. It's loud and can have a crap ton of people and its hot. -If you like country music, the country music hall of fame or the Ryman is good. Hatch Print is there and is cool to see. - We prioritize food on our trips, so I would make that a priority. --Football will be going if you want to see them play. --Jack Daniels has a wiskey tour that is good.
Food
We love good steaks. We go to Nashville a couple of times a year and these places we love:
The Standard - it's an old house that has been converted into an upscale steakhouse. Their menu is so good and they have amazing drinks. Hattie B's Chicken - the best hot chicken, there will be a line. Get there early. Za - Pizza Capitol Grill - I am pretty sure this is a chain but its good on steaks. Farm House - close to the Hall of Fame Jeff Ruby - Steak house and seafood. Loud but has a great assortment of high end liquor if thats your thing Peg Leg Pork - BBQ Hampton Social - bougie brunch/lunch place. Lots of instagrammers will be there taking photos, lol White Limo (I think it's called) -- Dolly's brunch place. Lots of bachelorette parties are there for brunch

Here are the things I usually recommend for a trip to nashville:
- Grand ole opry for sure. It's an amazing experience. Worth every penny. Doesn't matter if you don't know a single person on the bill - it will be a great show. And people sometimes forget that it's the oldest live radio broadcast. So everything is perfectly timed. No waiting around for the show to start.
- Arrington Vineyard is worth the trip in my opinion. Owned by Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn fame, the place is massive & really pretty. On weekends there is live music starting in the afternoon until close. You can bring in your own food & just sample their wine.
-Country Music Hall of Fame - really well done. You probably just need a couple hours. You can do the museum in the am & then walk down to broadway to hear live music that afternoon.
-We've been to a lot of breweries & have enjoyed them all - fat bottom, bearded iris, and tailgate come to mind.
-If you're gonna hit the bars on broadway I always think it's better to go early & clear out before the real party crowd shows up. But I'm old - haha. There are bands all day long, so you'll still hear live music. Roberts Western World should be on the "must go to list" in my opinion. (You can get the recession special - fried bologna sandwich, chips, moon pie & a PBR all for 6 bucks.)
-There are lots of cute neighborhoods - 12 south & Hillsboro village are both awesome. plenty of shopping, restaurants, bars. We love brunch at Butter Milk Ranch.
-Quirky place - maybe Pearl Diver. I've never eaten there, but the cocktails are awesome. It doesn't really look like much from the outside, but it definitely has a tropical/jungle feel on the inside.
-and one other thing, just because I'm a big fan. Ann Patchett owns a bookshop in nashville called Parnassus books. Honestly, it's just a book store. But one of these days I'm gonna go & she'll be there, at least that's what I keep telling myself!

Thank you both so much for the suggestions… you’ve given me so many things to look up and research! Everything sounds amazing!
We aren’t huge country music fans but if we’re in Nashville, we have to do something related to country music!

It's close enough to drive to for a quick trip --- maybe an hour drive?

I’m not a country music fan, and thought the Grand Ol’ Opry was amazing. They put on a great show — lots of different acts. I’ve been twice, and it was a highlight of both trips.
ETA: keeps corrrecting Opry to Oprah. Lol
Restaurants we liked:
Bakersfield for Mexican food Monell’s for breakfast There was a good gin bar with small plates, but I can’t remember the name. My daughter liked the Twelve Thirty Club

We went last summer and we loved the Downtown segway tour. It was fun, easy, and interesting. We had dinner at White Limozeen - dolly themed rooftop restaurant and bar. Not a MUST do but we had fun. And we had a great time at The 12:30 club which is a restaurant with live music owned by Justin Timberlake.

So many things to see and do.
The Parthenon is a great thing to stop and see. Makes for some fun photo ops. And it's free unless you want to go through rhe museum.

Two years ago I was in Nashville for a wedding, and they had a trolley tour for the extended family from out of town. That included all the bride’s cousins from Greece. We had to stop and get out for a picture there — they thought it was the best thing about Nashville. Never laughed so hard in my life. There are some lovely gardens in the park there.

You could drive by my old house... I used to live across the street from the Grand Old Opry/Opryland. Spent many many times at both places. When I lived there going downtown and all that wasn't a thing. I can't believe how much Nashville has changed. There is lots of history stuff to do there as well.
