Hi, everyone! I am just wandering around here aimlessly ... no housework to do ... no errands to run unless my dinner guest wants something specific ... I'm watching Bridgerton 2 right now on Netflix so that should pass some time! Can't wait for Bridgerton 3! This is what I posted on Facebook today: DIY kitchens can sometimes go terribly wrong! Hehehehhehe!!!! Sorry so big!!! In your house, are your chores split up 50/50 or is there a conflict? What about kids? Does your current situation work for you? (In my house, if it doesn't get done by my cleaning lady I am stuck with it!) What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Chores are not split 50/50 here. However, since I have a cleaning lady that come every two weeks, I'm not bitching anymore. My husband is still in the mindset of he does the "man" things and I do the rest. With that said, he's out golfing right now and I'm painting inside the camper. He really does hate to paint. And I don't mind it. It's kind of soothing in a way. Says the lady who also finds making 100000 crochet stitches in a blanket soothing. Haha...I should have been a house painter. Jeremy couldn't live with the oven/hoodfan in that pic leannec. When it comes to home renovations he's a perfectionist We are having rechauffe for dinner.

Oops! I guess I posted my update in yesterdays thread. Well dinner tonight will be whatever I find in the fridge and while not 50/50 we split chores pretty evenly with the cleaning service doing most of the heavy lifting. My husband is a much better cook than me so does a lot of the cooking. Kids were pretty good with dishes and helping with the cooking as well - they’re pretty terrible with outside chores which usually meant weeding growing up - both have learned how spoiled they were with their own apartments that they actually have to do the deep cleaning. 3/4 of us are really neat people in general so picking up was never a big deal other than my daughters bedroom that I just shut the door on.

Happy Sunday!
I'm just puttering around the house doing laundry and getting it ready for the week. I'm going to go get ramen and do some shopping with my sister. I'll probably hang out over there today, hopefully including dinner because I have no idea what to cook! I was so busy with the engagement party yesterday that I'm pretty pooped. I was hoping to get the garden in this weekend but it's going to be 87 today and I don't feel like working in the heat. Next weekend, it's supposed to be much cooler and I don't really have any other plans so I think it will be yard work.
Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning everyone.
Chores in my house are basically dependent upon how I'm feeling that day. When I can, I vacuum, dust, etc., but dh has to do anything that requires elbow grease. His garden is his biggest responsibility, especially this time of year when the seeds and new veggie plants need tending. Dh does the heavy lifting and I do the light stuff. I'd do more if I could. I do most of the cooking and I'm in charge of the tidy kitchen. My sink must shine or I feel like my house is dirty. The bad part about this time of year is that dh is outside so much, that his weed allergies really flare. So, last night he tried Benadryl before bedtime. I warned him. He tried it once many years ago and took 2 rather than 1 and was knocked out. Last night he took one. He's very zoned this am and still has hives. We don't do "I told you so" in this house, but...I hope he wakes up this am, cause he's not happy just sitting there. I'm sort of chuckling, because I did warn him. Drugs are bad, dude. I'm going to finish clearing out the living room. I started my knitting tutorial last night and will do some knitting today. Dinner is likely rechauffe. I might pop down the hill to the store and get dh fresh salad stuff.
Adding to the Sees discussion yestereday, dh has one dark chocolate molasses chip at night for dessert. We get the gift cards at Costco, because it saves you money in the store and Sees is very pricey.
Happy, fun, relaxing day to all.

Good evening all.
Today was normal Sunday - church this morning then pottering around this afternoon. It was the last class for my First Communion kids and then I had a quick meeting with the parents after. They continued after I left - really, apart from the big weekend, my job is done as they will do all the practical organising from here on.
Chores here are pretty well split. As DH works long hours and is often away, and I only work casual hours, I do more of the day to day, though he does most of the garden stuff. He also cooks on both days of the weekend if he’s home and often Friday as well. He loves to experiment (in a good way!) with food, often trying to recreate meals he’s eaten in restaurants, so it’s fun to see what he comes up with.
Tonight we are having ribs on the grill with coleslaw. Ribs bought marinated and sous vide cooked, so just finishing the cooking and browning them really. Coleslaw is also from a bag mix, so mainly adding some extra herbs and vegetables and a dressing.

We’re having baked macaroni and cheese, Italian sausages and steamed broccoli for dinner.
Ds does most of the chores around here. I do my own laundry and will load/unload the dishwasher but he does the vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, etc. Oh, and I dust because I’ve yet to have a man in my life who does a decent job dusting. My late dh did all of the chores when he was alive. I worked and he was retired. Ds doesn’t work so I’ll let him keep doing chores to earn his keep. 😉

Hi friends!
I think I do more chores than DH, but I work from home 5 days a week, whereas he has to go in a few days a week. He also makes our meals on the weekends, so I think we're pretty even. He also cleans up the kitchen more than I do.
It's only noon right now, but we will probably have salmon, rice, and broccoli for dinner.
My legs are screaming today, but I'm not used to walking 4 miles in a day. I also burned the roof of my mouth yesterday at lunch. Worth it.

Now that DH is pretty much retired, we split pretty evenly. He does everything outside and the floors/bathrooms inside. I cook, do laundry and dust when company is coming. scrapmaven , I swear by Zyrtec for allergies. I take one at bedtime as needed and it's good for 24 hours. Dinner might be Chicken Noodle Soup. We ended up having gumbo last night as I found a container in the freezer.

jeremysgirl, I can't wait to see your painted walls. Dh announced that he's finally awake. Ta-da. Once I finish my project I will post it on the craft thread, just cause that will make me accountable for finishing it and I can use the critiques to help me improve. Enjoy your painting. I hope you have good tunes playing.

scrapmaven, I was going to suggest Zyrtec, too. I take one every morning anyway, but I also have a hopped-up Rx-strength version that I’m supposed to take at night as needed for my allergies. I actually take it (only occasionally) for help sleeping. No hangover, not in my case, anyway. Dinner is definitely going to be chicken soup. I just got home from Costco with a big bag of frozen wontons so it’s going to be Asian-flavored chicken soup. I’ll add actual chicken and lots of veggies.

Well I had big plans to do some laundry and switch out my winter clothes for summer clothes today but… the sun came out, the temps went up and my deck chair was calling my name! So here I am in the deck with my book, my dog and a glass of Pepsi Zero Lime that I recently found at the grocery store. It’s delicious!
Today is DDILs 33rd birthday. At some point, I’ll get off my butt and bike over to their house with her gift.
Supper will be a roasted whole chicken with the fixings.

I have no odea what the split is, but we feel it is reasonable most of the time.
Cooking-me Making weekday lunches-me Errands- me, but he often goes along Laundry- since Ive beem working from home on Thu-Fri, Ive been able to do most laundry on those days- sheets, jeans, and ds' scrubs are the only things left for the weekend. It is wonderful not to have to do all the laundry on the weekend so I dont mind. Im also the planner and the keeper of the calendar.
Dh cleans the house and cleans up after meals. He also tends the houseplants and does the outdoor watering- I plan the garden and care for it other than watering. And he grills. I could, but he likes it. And he folds laundry.
Ds empties the dishwasher and takes out the trash (and does anything else we ask).

In your house, are your chores split up 50/50 or is there a conflict? What about kids? Does your current situation work for you? lol - no, there is not a 50-50 split here BUT dh is the sole wage earner and I'm a sahm. I do all the cooking, cleaning, laundry...I keep the family calendar and make sure everything that needs to be remembered or done gets remembered and done. DD17 is supposed to put away clean dishes every day along with scooping the litter and emptying the waste baskets around the house, and feeding/watering the cats. In reality, I often end up doing some or all of those things on my way to bed when I realise they weren't done. She IS pretty busy with school, afterschool practises, and Girl Scouts on the weekends but a little more responsibility wouldn't hurt. Outside - mostly doesn't get done but when it does usually dd17 will mow if not I do - it's easier if she does because she can drive the ride-on and I can't so use an electric push mower. DH will prune the azaleas once a year if I ask enough times. DH will plant bushes/trees but ongoing care is on me. IF we plant veggies/flowers - that's also on me (and guess what we didn't do this year?) Car maintenance is DH's area Inside - IF I ask DH to handle a chore, he'll do it -no complaining. He does occasionally put dishes away if he gets tired of me nagging DD about them. dinner tonight is a summer squash frittata with salad on the side.

I have a cleaner every other week.. but I do most the chores.. meals, clean up, laundry, organizing, planning, neither dh or I do anything in the yard.. we have a guy who comes by once a month. dh walks the dog most the time, except when he can't, so I do it. he does all things technical like taxes. when we are at our condo he does some cooking and cleaning. but not at home. I was a stay at home mom most of our married life. and he was working full time and often in the hospital.. I also did all the kid management and appts.
dinner is takeout.. probably italian..

I forgot to answer the chores question.
Now that we are both retired, the division of chores has changed. I do most of the housework - vacuuming, dusting, cleaning floors, bathroom, etc. I typically do the laundry but he will often throw a load in the washer. We both work together to prepare meals and do the cleanup and often go grocery shopping together. DH does most of the yard work. He loves cutting the grass with the zero turn lawnmower. I look after all the bills and scheduling appts. DH is responsible for our car maintenance because he used to be a mechanic. He also puts the garbage out and collects the buckets at the road.

DSO decided that he wanted homemade pizza for dinner. I started to make the pizza dough in the bread maker, following the recipe in the bread maker user guide. I got to the end where you add the yeast, and it said 3 teaspoons - what?! That's way too much! Then I realised that I was following the recipe for focaccia, not pizza dough. So we ended up having focaccia pizza, and it was so good!
Our housework is split quite evenly. If anything, DSO does more than me. And then when you add in the garden work, he does way more than me. Since I started working from home, I do pretty much all of the cooking. Prior to that, DSO did most of the cooking, because I didn't get home from work until 6:30 - 7pm.

WARNING: RUBBER STAMPING CAN BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR WEALTH.
Today is The Queens Birthday, so I went to visit. I took some flowers, I just laid them on her grave. I am not happy they have not installed the grave plaque.
I am going to go to Outback to celebrate, as we did every year.

Hugs jeremysgirlDh travels a lot for work so any messes are made by me so I clean them up. He does his own laundry because he doesn’t like the way I do it. I’m severely allergic to grass so he usually mowed. Now we have a guy. I do all the gardening. He’ll dig and build but that’s all I need from him. The planting & tending is my domain. I pretty much do almost all the cleaning. I also get my own car serviced which annoys me endlessly for some reason. scrapmaven tell your dh to forget about zyzal for allergies. That was a 4 day hangover of misery. I’m currently taking Allegra. My dr has me switch between that and Zyrtec. My new chiropractor is going to cure them he claims 🙄 I’m going tomorrow but maybe not after that. He seemed too used car salesman to me. I had a studio makeup so I worked on flushmounts again. Luckily they’re cubic zirconia because I broke 2. Made pulled chicken sandwiches in the crockpot with baked beans and coleslaw.

Hugs to don and jeremysgirl - getting past those anniversary dates is difficult. Don, I'm glad you got to visit with flowers and a little quiet time. Becki, the camper is coming along beautifully - oh, and did I mention I love the paint color?? LOL, I want you to come to my house and choose paint colors for me when we repaint (eventually) - I suck at at it. cadoodlebug LOL that's cute! We split the chores equitably - it probably evens out to 50-50. We both work from home, so either of us can throw in a load of laundry, unload the dishwasher, or other light chores. DS is currently still living with us so he helps out a LOT by doing a lot of the grocery shopping, and some of the cooking. DH usually cleans up the kitchen, as he mostly doesn't cook. (We've always had a "one person cooks, the other cleans up" kind of deal going.) I do more of the heavier cleaning on weekends or weeknights, and DH does all the yardwork, but that is going to change - we decided we're hiring a lawn service again. We had one when the kids were little and we both worked outside the home with long-ish commutes, and busy packed weekends filled with kid activities & sports. DH & DS take daily Zyrtec for allergies and I take daily Claritin. DS & I add Flonase (generic Costco "Flonase", that is) during the worst of the allergy season...which is now. Dinner was spaghetti with choice of sauces - trad tomato sauce w/Italian sausage or tomato basil fresca sauce with feta. I had the latter. ETA: In regards to the allergies discussion, adding Flonase during the worst of allergy season was a game changer for me.

No, I can use either (Costco, generic) Claritin or (Costco, generic) Zyrtec - they both work the same for me. I've actually never tried Allegra, generic or otherwise. Maybe I'll try that on next time instead of Claritin. (It it doesn't work as well, I can easily switch back to one of the others.)

Hugs to jeremysgirl and donTonight just a quick check in. I'm up late. We had steak, baked potatoes and roasted asparagus. BTW tried the face mask but it doesn't drown out DH. I'm having trouble with the speakers in the mask being over the ears. The Tylenol is helping but I better start taking it with food as my stomach is hurting right now. Making progress.
