I'm so excited I can't sleep. But tomorrow my Chloe graduates from her sobriety court program. She has been sober since December 17, 2022 so almost a year and a half. She's been in this program since last January. So over 15 months. She had to have group counseling and individual counseling. She had at times up to 4 drug and alcohol tests a week. She had to attend Alcoholics Anonymous 4 times a week. She had a suspended license for a year. And now she has a restricted license with a breathalyzer and she will be able to petition to get her license back after six months with it, so she'll have it at least another three. She has paid thousands of dollars in fines, not to mention all the costs associated with the drug/alcohol testing and the breathalyzer. And she did 120 hours of community service all while holding down a full time job (that was a requirement of the program too.)
I cannot express how grateful I am for a rehabilitation program like this. It saved her. We will all be there in court tomorrow with her as she will be finally free. And free of alcohol. And taking her mental health meds.
I know it's a different kind of mom brag than your typical graduation posts. But she did it. She turned her life completely around and I couldn't be more proud.

Congratulations! She went so far off the rails after Esther died I was terrified I was going to lose her too. She spent a week in jail and then she decided she really did not want to be there so she took the judge's offer to enroll in this program.

I'm so very proud of Chloe and all that she achieved over the past year. It's hard work and takes so much discipline and committment. Chloe proved herself to not only the court and you, but most importantly, herself. Now she knows that she can have a good, happy life if she's willing to put forth the effort. Chloe is a rock star! You're a great mom and such a strong advocate for mental health issues. I have always admired you and been so honored to be your friend.

I have stood by her in support but this was a lot of work. She did it all. And I'm totally not shocked because ever since she was little she had a very strong, independent personality. When she put her mind to something no one was stopping her. It just was a matter of whether she'd use that power for good. I knew she had it in her. Thank you for all your support, my friend.

Sometimes it takes hitting the bottom to want to bounce back up. I’m proud she choose to bounce back up and get her life back. I know sobriety is hard for our kids - it seems everyone is drinking at their age - but to want to do better and stick with her program shows she is pretty amazing. ❤️

Wow, that is quite an accomplishment! And she also had the heartbreak of losing her sister to deal with during this. It makes my heart happy to see you so proud of her💕 She definitely felt like Esther was watching over her. She thought it was quite fitting that she would be graduating from her program just 3 days after the anniversary of her death. She said it feels like she's closing this chapter. And the fact that the two dates coincided for her was very meaningful.

That’s brilliant! Just brilliant! And, dare I say it while not wanting to denigrate anyone else’s achievements in any way, it’s harder than academic graduation. You are rightly proud.
