I’m scanning Pinterest and searching recipes and ideas, but I thought I’d ask the peas, too. We’re invited to a derby party and need to bring either an appetizer or dessert. Bonus points for any party favors to give out. If you have any tried and true ideas, I’d be forever grateful. If I find good stuff I’ll share here, too.

Derby Pie is a gimme but others might already be planning to bring one. There are a lot of desserts based off a mint julep, like cookies or cupcakes.

My youngest's DDs MIL hosts a huge Derby party each year. Kentucky Hot Brown sandwiches are always on the menu. Mint Juleps along with the traditional julep cups. She also gives official Derby glasses to close family as favors. One year, everyone went home with a Kentucky Colonel mint plant. Hot Brown recipe |
