Hey gamers! Am I an old fuddy duddy only wanting a physical copy of a game? I have a new room set up with all my craft & game console - DH uses the main family room tv for his I currently have Disney Dreamlight Valley and all our old PS3/PS2 games (no console set up for them though) and I bought the hard copy of the game. I see on the PS platform that the Hogwarts Legacy is on sale for 50% off but it is the digital version only. Am I being silly wanting to have the hard copy?

I download everything on both my Switch and PC. I downloaded Hogwarts Legacy and it runs just fine. IMHO, if you can get 50% off I'd go for the download.

I don't have a preference, but my son (almost 13) prefers physical when possible so they don't take up so much hard drive space.

We all have just a few download games on our switches but prefer the actual SD card for games.

My kids buy physical when possible because the cost for additional storage to download them all would be exponentially higher than just buying physical copies of most of the games.
Their favorites that have constant updates are downloaded and set to auto update.
Everything else is physical.

I am of the thought that I want the physical copy. My ODS, the absolute gamer, wants a digital download. For the simple fact that you don't have to physically plug in a game. You just choose what you want to play. He will take his Switch with him when I visit and run errands. If he doesn't want to go to a particular store, he will stay in the car to play. With them being digital, he can choose whatever he wants. A short little clip into a game for this or that battle.

Another benefit of the physical game is you can sell it later. I like the physical copy, too. We do own some digital downloads though.

We prefer physical copies for most games. DS8 and I both have switches and this allows us to share games. We each have a few games that were digital download and we have no desire to share such as I have dreamlight valley and he has minecraft.

My Xbox only allows for downloads with Game Pass so that's what I have. I don't mind having only digital software as it takes up less space and I can easily switch between games.

We're a physical copy only house here. For the time being, we're not getting anything downloadable, mostly because we don't see a need to be online to play games.
Two of my favorite games were released in 2002 and 2006, and DH plays a lot of "older" games as well. His favorite system is still his PS2, and I bought him an Xbox 360 with a hard drive a few years ago so we could play the backwards compatible games on it. (We had a 360, but it wasn't working super well, and didn't have a hard drive.)

I vastly prefer physical media - you own it, nobody can come and change it or revoke your access later the way they can with DRM stuff. I do have games that are, for example, Steam-only but I treat them as a consumable experience rather than a game I'm willing to get invested in long term, because odds are they won't be around forever.
I'll happily pay 50$ for a physical game because it has resale/long term value. Online/DRM games, my willingness to pay drops to about 5$ or less.

I too much prefer a physical game over a download. Back when DD and I were playing a lot of Animal Crossing I bought a second Switch so we could play together. Initially I bought a second copy of the game as a download but quickly realized that with the downloaded version I was the only person who could log in and play on that console. I’m not describing this very well but I don’t think she could play independently of me on my Switch. I got a refund for the downloaded version and deleted it and bought a second physical copy.
I did buy the digital version of Dreamlight Valley because it had more stuff for a lower price than the Cozy version had, but I’ve barely played it since I bought it.

Mostly physical. Have a PS5, PSVR, Switch and XBox One S and at least 85% of my games are physical. Not a lot physical games are available for the PSVR. Also like physical since you can buy used for decent prices at Gamestop.
The Hogwarts Legacy game was really fun, loved flying on the broom.
