I love most of the home improvement shows on HGTV and enjoy the designers on them. So obviously I love to watch the competition shows involving them, like Rock the Block. Did anyone else watch? I'd love to discuss. Who was your favorite team? What were your favorite spaces?
Keith and Evan really knocked it out of the park this season. A close second for me personally was the Baeumler's. They really surprised me as I'm not the biggest fan of their show.
I was surprised, yet not surprised over the winner this season. I do think the one thing they did is the sole reason they won. (Don't want to spoil it in case others haven't watched the finale yet.)
One thing that bugs the crap out of me is that the designers have to wear the exact same clothes every day. Yeah, I know it's done to make editing much easier, but still, it just seems weird to me.

I have not watched every episode but enough to know Keith and Evan continue to get the short end of the stick it seems.

I watched it - it's my favorite HGTV show. I loved Brian and Sarah's living room - it was by far my favorite space. Keith and Evan did really great this season. The concept for this show is the exact opposite of their regular show but I could see they started to think a lot bigger this time. Lindsey and Leslie were brilliant for adding battery back up and solar panels. I didn't love all their design choices but I am surprised they only won by 20K.

I was really annoyed that Ty and one of the Property Brothers were the final judges. I think it is a lot fairer to have local real estate agents, who know the market, come up with the appraisal.
I think Keith and Evan had a bit of an advantage with their view - it was the best on the block. They definitely upped their game from last time, not sticking with their personal style, but what might sell better.
I think the "power" move is what made the twins win. I also thought it was hilarious that the kitchen judge said their wine storage room had no value, but the Property Brother was falling over himself gushing about it.
I don't get why Brian & Sarah wasted $11K on a jet ski. They could have used that money for a couple solar panels or an electric vehicle charging outlet. 🤣 I do like how much he supported her and her vision, unlike some other HGTV couples (Tarek and Christina, ahem).
I wish they had been able to spend some time in the last episode fixing up spaces that had been critiqued in previous weeks, as I think that shows some growth.

I liked the power of the winners, Lesley and Lindsey. I truly appreciate almost everything Keith and Evan do. Brian and Sarah annoy me, but far less then the other two, Mitch and ??.. I would appreciate the elevator though and/or grocery lift.
I agree, a local appraiser/agent should do the final evaluations. Someone not associated with the show.
Selfishly I wish they would spend more time when the visit each other's spaces.

They really went above and beyond their norm for this competition and I absolutely loved their house.

We were completely bummed with the winners this time around. The twins bugged the crap out of us every week lol.
We were Baumler fans - we've watched them since Bryan first started out with his DIY help show and I have even grown to actually like Sarah lol.

Ty and Jonathan only evaluated the homes and gave their opinions, but an actual appraisal company came in for the appraisal. At least that's my understanding after looking it up but I couldn't find what company did it. Totally agree that the power move was the ticket on the appraisal. It was a very smart move on their part. The Jet Ski, oh don't even get me started on that. I'd like to see a whole episode where one team at a time goes through the houses by themselves or with the designers that did it. Cramming everyone together to go through them just doesn't lend well to the reactions.

I watched and was disappointed in the winners each week! Here's the info from HGTV about how the ultimate winner is decided. Clear as mud.
"The final verdict episode was judged by host Ty Pennington and Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott, who evaluated the homes before appraisers determined how much value was added to the final sales price. "

Keith and Evan were the best at having a home that you would want to live in every room. I love watching their show. They really knocked out of the park and I think they should have one. I think it was a toss up between the twins and the Baumlers for 2nd and 3 rd. There were some awkward areas on both of their houses.
I was really surprised that these homes didn’t do for well over 2.5 million. I thought they were so undervalued in th end. To me, the Reno didn’t really add a ton of value, as the houses only appraised for between 200-300,000 over the cost.
This season was a bit of a disappointment since they started with a clean slate and such seasoned renovations and the last episode was so anticlimactic.

I watch this. We’re watching Battle on the Mountain now and it’s similar. I guess there are other seasons so I’ll watch those at some point.
I like the Baeumlers. I watched several episodes of their island show. I loved their kitchen and living room! Not sure how practical the dining space was, but I loved it. I agree that Keith and Evan did an amazing job! I liked all their spaces. I have never been a fan of the twins but for some reason they didn’t annoy my this round.

I've also been liking Rico to the rescue.

I thought the fireplace in the walk in closet made no sense at all.
I also very much disliked the Baumlers rounded table connnected to the island. They also did not put in a hot tub, which makes no sense to me. I am in S FL and out hot tub is used more than the pool itself.
