I’m now following the guy on twitter that @merge told us about. The one who post all of dumpster don’s posts on Truth Social. I’m kind of sorry that I am because the guy never shuts up.
Anyway he posted this, his favorite rallying cry. I suspect I know what the racist bastard means with “Make America Great Again”.
But not sure what what he means by “Put America First” means. Anyone have an idea what the idiot means by “ Put America First”?.

onelasttime I assume this means that the US should be an isolationist country, unwilling to help other countries with foreign aid or during times of crisis, but I could be way off base.

It's the updated version of isolationism policy. Or the continual "the US spends too much on foreign aid" drum that has been beaten for decades. So helping Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan = bad. Implying if the US didn't do that, there would be more help for real Americans.
Instead, of you know, the same people voting against domestic policies because people need to pull up their bootstraps and not make bad choices.

pantsonfire I agree that we send a lot over money overseas, but our overall foreign aid budget is around 1%, I believe.

it is also a rallying cry back to some mythical time when america was great.. white men had power and we oppressed women and minorities. there is definitely white power behind it.
isolation didn't work too well in the 1930's to stop the nazies and it will not make us safer now.

This is my thought too. The problem is which Americans he would put at the front of the line to receive those dollars. Tax cuts for the wealthy, obviously. Winner winner chicken dinner. When the Republicans talk about cuts to programs like Social Security and Medicare they claim it’s to bring down the debt. But the reality is the Republicans see it as a way they can justify tax cuts for the rich and corporations. Which basically would mean the Federal Government would be funded on the backs of the middle class and poor by the taxes they pay while cutting programs that would benefit the middle class and the poor the most. |
