Time Magazine wrote an article of a trump 2nd term look like. Kyle Griffin did a summary. The link to the entire article is in the link below. Imagine what he would do if he’s elected and the Supreme Court gives a president complete immunity. Kyle Griffin… ”This is what Trump plans to do in a second term: He would be willing to build migrant detention camps and deploy the U.S. military. He would let red states monitor women's pregnancies and prosecute those who violate abortion bans.He would be willing to fire a U.S. Attorney who doesn't carry out his order to prosecute someone. He is weighing pardons for every one of his supporters accused of attacking the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. He might not come to the aid of an attacked ally in Europe or Asia if he felt that country wasn't paying enough for its own defense. He would gut the U.S. civil service, deploy the National Guard to American cities as he sees fit, close the U.S. pandemic-preparedness office, and staff his Administration with acolytes who back his false assertion that the 2020 election was stolen.“ x.com/kylegriffin1/status/1785343372145656226?s=61&t=j45uMgNk1i8O0YllKF58nw

Whole lot of people out there who are comfortable with this because they think that Trump is going to harm the "right people." Watch how people you interact with react to the sight of police throwing college students and faculty onto the pavement, because it tells you how they're going to react when that becomes more widespread.

Just got finished reading the article and came to post. Every single American person in the world should be scared. Put me on that bench 🫤 My husband and kids are in the final stages of getting Austrian citizenship (entitled to it because his grandmother fled Vienna in the Holocaust), and while it's nice to have the possibility of leaving under some circumstances, truthfully, the threat Trump poses to global stability is so high that I'm not sure how much good it would do, ultimately.

Indeed. It would come to you/me more slowly but it would come, no doubt about that.

I am pretty certain my mental health would not survive another Trump presidency.

I’m a dual citizen (Canada) so there’s that.
I have to believe there is more good than bad and enough people will turn out to completely spank him at the ballot box in November. I’m actually more afraid of what his cult will do.

Thanks for sharing onelasttime. So many of us understand the previously unimaginable risks were are facing. Totally unprecedented!!! So I ask, WHO IS SENDING $$$ AND OTHERWISE WORKING TO ELECT BIDEN and other Dems? If not now, when??? PLEASE SHARE all of your ideas for actions we can take to try to prevent this nightmare scenario. We have donated to several candidates outside of our state as well as to orgs working to register young adults to vote and inform them on the issues. I'm rushing to go out for the evening and I don't feel well, so won't be back to this convo for some time.

Just got finished reading the article and came to post. Every single American person in the world should be scared. Put me on that bench 🫤 Scoot along there, gar, and make room for me too. We, in New Zealand, have often felt somewhat relieved (much nicer word than ‘smug’) that we are at the bottom of the world, well away from other countries and left in relative peace. But increasingly that relief is being eroded. I think that one of the biggest worries of a 2nd Trump term, from a world-wide point of view, is the copy-cat effect. As outsider and fringe thinking gets more and more publicised, it gives people who lean that way the impetus and encouragement to lean further and actively become involved. An obvious, though perhaps extreme example, is mass killings. Every time one happens and is talked about, more happen around the world using whatever means the person has available. They become almost normalised. A 2nd Trump would similarly help that extreme thinking to become almost normalised. Even marginal and usually-secret sympathisers would feel they can act in a way that they haven’t before. “Here’s the President of a big and powerful country like USA saying that what we think IS good, right, and proper, and that we should make our voices and actions be seen loudly. And not only is he President, but it’s for the 2nd time so he MUST be right”. Scary indeed.

But Biden is too old... But her emails... But But But... yes. As well as Hunter Biden the border is not secure and it's entirely President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas' fault mainstream media lies NPR is biased Trump is not guilty of fraud Trump suggesting that we should study the injection of disinfectant was just a hoax Russian collusion was just a hoax When Trump used the word bloodbath, he was only referring to the economy. Trump's language is not a problem, mainstream media just left out the context Trump is not racist, Biden is for comments made 15 years ago that he apologized for Trump supports the police because he attended the wake of a fallen NYC police officer. President Biden doesn't support them because he didn't attend Trump's tax cuts in 2017 benefitted everyone, not just the wealthy Biden is responsible for what the FBI did or didn't do before the 2020 election (still trying to understand that one) We should be worried about Biden's censorship and silencing dissent Regarding Jan 6 the Jan 6 insurrection was not violent some crazy conspiracy theories about the gallows built on Jan 6 Trump requested 10,000 troops on Jan 6 (despite lack of any actual evidence) Cassidy Hutchinson is lying Nancy Pelosi is responsible for Jan 6 and security failures Regarding the 2020 election and Trump's attempts to overturn it Hillary's comments about the 2016 election are the same as Trump's lies and efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election Hillary and her lawyers are the same as Trump and his more than 10 lawyers who have been investigated, charged, fined, disbarred or had disciplinary action taken against them for trying to overturn the results of the election. Trump accepted the results of the 2020 election 11,000 votes could be legitimately found 2 months and 3 recounts after the election Regarding Schedule F & Project 2025 Schedule F is only about firing or making it easier to fire people that are not filling job requirements The language in Project 2025 about heterosexual marriage is not anti-LGBTQ because it doesn't explicitly state that. This is OK and doesn't mean there isn't a place for other families. Promoting nuclear families is Ok because in general it's the most stable place for children to be raised Goal #3: Promoting Stable and Flourishing Married Families. Families comprised of a married mother, father, and their children are the foundation of a well-ordered nation and healthy society. Getting rid of the Department of Education is OK because there will still be state Departments of Education There are not any problems with this fetal personhood language - The Secretary must ensure that all HHS programs and activities are rooted in a deep respect for innocent human life from day one until natural death:

monitoring No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen. @noliewithbtc What about monitoring people like Jason Miller who don’t pay their child support?
Biden-Harris HQ @bidenhq Trump advisor Jason Miller says Trump wants to let states “monitor” women’s pregnancies so they can know if they've gotten an abortion

Public NoticeThere is “rumbling” about the Time story on trump and a possible 2nd term. Noah Berlatsky wrote a piece for Aaron Rupar’s Public Notice. The below excerpt caught my attention. I have long felt that trump was dumb. And he’s that way because he has absolutely no curiosity about much of anything. So he doesn’t know or care how things work and he’s ok with that because he feels he can bullshit his way through any questions asked of him. There is another thread about what characteristics we would/should see in a candidate for president. If you look at the list you can see trump has very few of those characteristics. If any. Yet that is who the Republicans want as their nominee for President. ” Trump’s proposals are terrifying. But they’re also remarkably incoherent. What’s most striking in the interview is that Trump, even after four years as president, has virtually no grasp on any policy issue beyond empty talking points, most of which are lies. When asked how he will implement his plans, he waffles, obfuscates, and delivers a stream of non sequitur boasts about how great he is or about how other people have said that he’s great. He lies all the time, but many of his statements on core policy issues are so garbled and gassy they don’t even qualify as lies. It’s like interacting with a chatbot programmed by a fascist parrot.
Trump’s blank, aggressive ignorance shouldn’t be a comfort. He has shown, over and over, that incompetence doesn’t have to undermine evil intent; often it can exacerbate it. He offers a vision of a presidency of cruelty and violence disavowed as it occurs, with every abuse of power accompanied by a vague flurry of denials and endless self-hagiography. Trump promises us, over and over, that he will do harm, and that he will learn nothing.”
