What is your favorite ink for stamping to get clean, crisp images? Are distress oxide inks ok for stamping? Thanks!

There’s a thread on the stamping/cardmaking board about favorite inks that might help you. Here’s the link

I like Momento. I also use alcohol markers and have great results with this ink. Doesn't bleed on my Nina Solar White cardstock and doesn't bleed when I color. I get crisp lines.

I exclusively scrapbook & use VersaFine Clair, a quick-drying, archival, pigment ink that yields saturated color, crisp words, detailed images, & is still embossable minutes later! For tone-on-tone stamping & embossing, I use VersaMark, a clear, archival, pigment ink that also captures fine detail. HTH.

Thanks everyone! Last year I bought a bunch of stencils and Distress Oxide inks with plans to finally use some of the stamps I have acquired (my old ink was all dried up). I haven't used them yet but was talking with a friend about ink types and CTMH closing (and what to order from them, or not). Was second guessing my distress oxide choices but should probably just give them a try before buying anything else, right? Or not.

You can stamp with oxides but they are not ideal for "crisp and clean" they lean towards their namesake "distressed" and then they "oxidize" and have a soft, worn look to the color. But stenciling would be different from stamping. I know shimelle uses distressed oxides for both and I have learned a lot from her videos.

JM likes Distressed Inks for blending, which is great for stenciling. For clear, crisp images though for things like sentiments I’d steer towards Versafine Clair or Memento.

I love the Ranger Archival ink for stamping. I find I get really clear images and I am loving that they are available in the smaller sizes so I can get different colours.

From the research I did. Most of them are the same so it's kinda pick the brand you like the color pallete of.
I like my Oxides, but I've been much happier with my Concord & 9th because I liked the colors offered and I liked their cardstock is an exact ink color match.
I also really liked Ranger Archive, but I didn't love the color choices.

This is probably TMI, but here are my inks and what I use them for: Distress Ink (regular dye): I used for ink blending, watercoloring, splattering, watercolor "look" stamping Distress Oxide (blend of pigment and dye): I used for blending, stenciling, coloring die cuts, some stamping of bigger images or when I want a faded/chalky look on a big sentiment or image, some embossing-you have to be quick Versafine Clair (pigment): Crisp stamping, stamping outline images for watercoloring, stamping for embossing (stamp in color, emboss in clear over image or word) The morning mist gray is super lovely Ranger Archival Inks (dye): Crisp stamping, have used them a bit for dye ink blending Momento Tuxedo Black: Alcohol ink coloring HTH!
