if so, I have a question. My mom is having an issue with a couple of things that appear to be caused by the fact the battery in her car died. Although the car is now running after getting a ‘jump’. Speedometer doesn’t work, fuel gauge doesn’t work, etc.. Just curious if anybody’s had this happen. She doesn’t have an appointment with a mechanic in two days but we thought if we could give it a go to see if we could fix it.

I don't know own one, but I believe this can be an issue with most newer vehicles. When a battery doens't work, it messes up the vehicle's computer and it needs to be reset. Do reset, the battery needs to be disconnected for a good hour to allow any and all residual electricity to disapate. Then reconnect the battery and drive for about 15 minutes. The car should be then reset back to factory default, so you could loose things like preset radio stations.
Vehicle repair places and do this with a machine or some cars even have a reset button somewhere under the hood.
Hope she can fix it herself.

I'll send the question to my DH. He works on cars in his spare time and I bet he will have an idea.
Edit: DH said its because of the battery. To run all those gauges you have to have full voltage. He said disconnect the battery and reconnect it and see if that resets everything. If not, you probably need a new battery.

Thanks the battery is fairly new so my mother accidentally left the car in the accessory position which drained the battery and it got jumped 3 days ago and it starts fine and the radio works and the windows work. It’s just those crazy gauges like the fuel. She’s gonna try, unhooking it and then hooking it back up and driving it. This happened once before when she did the same thing about three years ago. We just don’t remember how she reset it nor does the mechanic. Lol.

DH will call later this afternoon and be home tonight if it still isn't fixed and I can pick his brain more to save you a trip to a mechanic.

We have one but haven’t had that issue, sorry. It’s had some issues, but not that specific one.
