I am wanting to start doing my own gel nails at home. Can someone recommend what products to get to start? I know many Peas do them at home -- so what are y'all using? Thanks!

Search on YouTube for the Nail Hub and Elizabeth’s video on UV/LED lamps. She very knowledgeable and explains why it can be important. Actually you could use her for any aspect you want to gen up on.
As far as polishes go, don’t go cheap and do match your top/base coat to the polishes. Be careful of getting it on your skin - allergic reactions can be serious over time.

I have never changed up my game since I started with a Gelish kit. That's because I still prefer regular polish, so I use the Gelish foundation with a coat of Structure over that and finish with the top coat.
Then I paint my regular polish over that and top with a quick dry top coat. Regular polish lasts much much longer over gel. The gel base lasts about 2 weeks on me before it starts lifting and I need to change it.
Removal can be very damaging if you are not patient, so know that going into it. I can remove my gel without damage to my nails but it's not a quick process. I put on a TV show and then put acetone on cotton rounds cut in half, and put one on each nail and fit a rubber office finger onto each nail. I sit there like that for a minimum of 25 min before I remove the cotton and by then, the gel should easily lift off. Don't pry too hard or you'll damage the nail which will cause peeling nails later.
Be sure you start with very clean and dry nails with no moisturizer on them before you apply your gel, to prevent premature lifting of the gel.

Do you have a light that you like to use with this combo? Since I have a ton of regular nail polish, I am thinking the way you do your nails might work best for me.

My Gelish starter kit came with a light. You can buy it on Amazon. I've had it since about 2013 or 14, works great.

If you really want gel, I like the Beetles brand polish from amazon. This is the light I have UV light although it was not nearly this expensive when I bought it. If you want long lasting polish, I cannot recommend Dazzle Dry enough. It’s expensive but so worth it. I get well over 3 weeks with no chips. The best part is that it comes off with regular nail polish remover.

I use one I got on Amazon…sun uv or something like that. Works great!
As for gel base and top coat, I use Aimiele also on Amazon.
For colors, I get the Beetles. You can usually find a deal and there are so many colors. Once again on Amazon.
Mine usually last 1-2 weeks but I change mine weekly because I can! I’m one of those unusual people who gel polish can peel right off, or quite easily after 1-2 weeks. Yes it damages my nails so I’m trying not to do that!
