I have been listening to the Ben Mankiewicz podcast series and have caught up and I’m looking for something similar. I tried very hard to listen to a podcast called “You must remember this”, but the host’s voice just gets on my last nerve. She ennounciates things so specifically in a very affected way that drives me crazy. Her ‘t’ sounds are particularly harsh. Then she insists on doing a bad Bette Davis impersonation whenever she has a direct quote from somebody. It doesn’t matter who she’s quoting. It’s not even usually Bette Davis that she is quoting. I just can’t anymore even though I find the context mildly entertaining. the Ben Mankiewicz one is about eight episodes each and it’s usually a deep dive. There was one on Lucille Ball, one on Pam Grier and 2 others. They’re really really interesting. He does interviews with people and of course he’s just incredibly knowledgeable because of his job. At the beginning of a pandemic. I listened to a really interesting one about the Wizard of Oz that talked about the making of it and that was great, but I can’t find it again. I don’t know who did it or if they had other ones but I would love some thing about old Hollywood movies, actors whatever. Something like the little clips they do in the introduced movies on TCM but more in-depth and in podcast form anyone have any suggestions? Also I tried the Leonard Maltin ones because I remember when we first came here my dad had his red book and I loved that thing. I read it anytime we would watch any old movie on TV, but his daughter is super annoying so I can’t listen to his either. Clearly I have a low tolerance for annoying people, so keep that in mind.

Thank you for the suggestion! They do cover more current movies, but there are some good ones and there were a few classics in there. I will start listening to them tomorrow. Thank you again

There is an English comedian who loves old movies especially the silent ones. His name is Paul Merton and he is on "Have I got news for you" panel show on the BBC. He has made a tv series and has written a book on the subject. Although I can't see a podcast option at least if you have his name you can check him out from time to time to see if he has added a podcast. www.paulmerton.com/silent-film-clowns-comedy
