DW and I are spending 3.5 days in SF later this month. We're staying at an AirBnB just north of the GG Park Panhandle. We have dinner reservations & evening plans for Night 2 and Night 3, but are looking for fun/interesting things to do/see during Day 2 & 3. We will not have a vehicle, and plan to use Uber/Lyft at night and going to/from the airport, but I think we'll be walking during the day. We've both been there before, but it's been several years and I think we'll be in different areas of town than previous visits.
Any suggestions for must-see things?

Well you could of course do Golden Gate Park - the tea gardens etc or rent bikes.
If it were me I’d probably walk or Uber to the marina green and Crissy Fields and do long walk to under the GG bridge. Then grab food on Union Street or Chestnut street and go in all the cute shops.

When we were there last spring they had food trucks in the area right in front of the Walt Disney Family museum. Bring a blanket for a little picnic.

I liked taking a ferry to Alcatraz (book in advance as they fill up), riding cable cars, and going to Waverly Place in Chinatown.

My favorite thing we did is bike over the bridge, lunch and browsing in Sausalito and ferried back.

The Japanese Tea Garden is also right by the DeYoung Museum and the natural history museum which name is escaping me at the moment. On the edge of GG Park. Definitely a day’s worth of great activities right there.
ETA it’s the California Academy of Sciences. A must-see.
Also you can walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.
And Alcatraz is a fantastic day trip. Yes, you must book in advance. Like, today.

Marking my place in this thread so I can find it later because we will be in SF in September for several days. Thanks for the suggestions!

you can call me up and get recommendations.. ride the bus, ride the cable cars, there is a bus around through the presidio too.. do a day golden gate park.. de young and the academy of sciences and the japanese tea garden.. the botanical garden or for exercise, row a boat around formerly known as stow lake.
walk crissy field, a snack at the shack at the west end, visit ft point, then walk up hill and see golden gate bridge. ferry from sausalito to the city is currently not running (and will not for a long time). take a ferry to larkspur.. just to get out on water. hang out at the ferry building. go to museum of modern art and other museum nearby. if you sew, check out britex fabrics near union square. wander around chinatown and check out cable car museum..eat dim sum at lunch.
go to disney museum. check out the inner richmond neighbor hood.. great asian food, green apple books, clement street between 2nd and 10th streets (boudin bakery nearby). fisherman's wharf still has bodins bakery, museum mechanique (take a roll of quarters)--free to get in, check out the ww2 sub, the jeremiah o brien merchant ship, or the collection at hyde street pier.. the sea lions at pier 39. or spend the day in north beach.. hang out at the park, check out an italian place for lunch have a drink at specs' bar.. check out city lights bookstore.
