Over the last couple years I have accumluated several brands of white cardstock to try and usually ended up buying a ream. Do you think they need to be stored flat, or can they be stored on their long side? I am trying to save some space but I don't want to ruin my cardbase paper. Thanks!

I prefer to store them flat. I have stored them on their side if I really had no room to store flat, but they tend to curve/warp a bit.

I don’t think they’ll get ruined, especially if you can keep them fairly tightly packed together. If you band them keep them in a tight bundle, or leave them in their wrappers if they’re mostly full, or use a bookend or something to minimize slumping they should be fine. Hopefully they won’t be stored in any position for years and years because you’ll be using them

Thank you! I think I'll just make an effort to store them flat.

All my cardstock is stored on its side in a file cabinet. I don't have any issues with warping or bad edges.

I also store my CS on it's side. I haven't run across any issues.

Hanging file folders work well for keeping vertical cardstock from warping. It also depends on how much you have and how big those bundles are - breaking it up into a bunch of job ticket folders or the like would help support the pages from bowing.
Otherwise I'd try to find a way to store it flat.

I store mine on the longer side in magazine holders in my Kallax. Never had any problems with them.

I store my reams (250 sheets) of white cardstock flat. The colored cardstock (max. pkg size 50 sheets) is stored on their long sides. Thank you for making me examine my inconsistent storage system and will now lay awake at night revisiting this.

If it helps, I store the colored cardstock that way too, with no issues, but it is in much smaller amounts and has never bent. I just didn't want to ruin a whole ream of paper.
