My great nephew is getting baptized next weekend and I'm not sure what to get him. He's being baptized Catholic and there is a Catholic store across the street from the church but since I'm not Catholic, I don't know if this would be a better place than Amazon for a gift.
Any suggestions welcome!

Go into the Catholic store and ask them for advice. I am sure they will be used to people asking the same thing. That is, of course, if you are looking for something religious. If you'd prefer something non-religious, then Amazon is sure to have something. I am Catholic, and bought both my Granddaughters' Baptism gifts at Catholic stores - A children's' Bible and a Greek style icon of their name saint.

My kids got a little kid Bible and a tiny ring. Neither of which they used. I think a baptism gift is kind of hard to pick out.

I would give cash in a card, *hoping* that the parents start a savings account for him. If they don't.... it out of my hands.

A cross for above the door of their room. A child’s St. Joseph bible. A Rosary. Children’s books about Jesus and other stories in the Bible. A figurine of Jesus to watch over him.

My kids got all kinds of baptism-themed gifts that ultimately ended up in a garage sale. I would suggest buying a card from the Catholic book store and then putting some cash or a Visa gift card in it. Unless the family is extremely religious and is going to display everything decorative that they receive for gifts, it just may end up collecting dust. Just my experience!

This is what I thought as well. I'd like to get him something meaningful but we have a big family so I'm trying to think outside the box a bit. He's only 3 months old so I think I might feel weird putting cash in a card. Would the parents think that was weird? I give my older grands cash all the time but giving it to a 3 month old even for a savings account - I'm not sure. Convince me

A well made Noah’s Ark toy. There are wooden sets and I think playmobil has a toddler Noah’s Ark. You could get the story to go with it.
When my friends kids were baptized (they were school age) We got them each a rose bush to plant in their yard and take care of

I would leave the religious gifts for the godparents and just give money. Or just a card. I dont know that there were many gifts at ds'.

A music box might be nice along with cash. My son loved music boxes and we had to wind up 5 every night at bedtime. I think cash is a very common gift for these types of things for reasons already mentioned in that many items end up being dust collectors.

I’ve given a piggy bank with money in it. On “Things Remembered” website, they even have a Noah’s Ark Bank.

We give a small religious item, like a baby cross for the wall, plus cash. My son had a baby cross he’d received in his room through college.

I just got my great niece some books-touch and feel books not religious ones. I do not practice any faith so I didn’t want to buy a faith based gift when I feel like they end up getting tossed or donated.

if you want something faith based from the heart art has some beautiful prints that they can put on the wall. We were given a plaque when DD was baptized that says for this child I have prayed. It hung on her wall for years until we moved into this house and by then she was in full I'm a teenager and questioning everything mode and didn't want it in her room.

There is a Fisher Price Little People Noah’s Ark and they also have a nativity set that is cute. He would get much more enjoyment from either of those than from a cheesy plaque or statue or even a child’s Bible. I received so many plaques, statues, probably a Bible, cheap necklaces with crosses, rosary beads for various religious events and all of it ended up at Goodwill.

It was one of the things I grabbed when we were going through mom's stuff after she died. I agree, that kind of stuff becomes a cherished item and will be both played with and admired for years.

I always give cash with a note that it's for their college fund. I say you only have 18 more years! I do the same thing with first birthdays, when the child is too young to know about presents.
