Good morning.
Well, turns out that road trips w/2 cats are very loud. Then when you get to your destination they blame eachother and fight all night. Currently, my avatar cat is trying to make himself at home in the kitchen, but big guy wants to clean avatar's clock. We get to go home tmw am. I can't wait to be home and unpacked.
Today we'll run a couple of local errands and do some clean up in this house. It needs dusting and vacuuming.
Dinner will be bbq pork chow mein from dh's favorite Chinese restaurant here.
What's on your menu?
What is everyone up to today?
Wishing a great day to all!

Today is ground zero for packing. So much more to put in the suitcases, so little room. Dinner will be salmon burgers with zucchini and a fruit salad. I love Tom Hanks but this cracked me up!

Happy Thursday! Spending the day at home, trying to get control of the house, the garden and the office, yet still find some sewing/needlepoint time. Hate when I let things go and get behind on everything. scrapmaven - Any chance you could get some Rescue Remedy before tomorrow morning? I used it when we moved two cats and two dogs all over the world and it worked wonders to calm them down. The breeder of our second Belgian told me about it, though back then there was no pet formula and we just used the regular RR. Dinner will be rechauffe of the roasted chicken and veggies. Hope everyone has a good day!

scrapmaven I am picturing your cats and laughing. Sorry! I only ever had a single cat so I never had to deal with cats fighting. It is rainy and cold today. After work I am forcing myself to go to the nursery and get my annuals. I am dreading it because I know it will be crazy busy. Tonight I really need to clean up around the house. Having the 4 boys for a period of time makes for a messy house. Still have meatloaf so we will finish that up.

I found some old underwear so we'll take those and throw them away after using them, making the suitcase lighter.

Happy Thursday!
I'm just plugging along at work waiting for my BIL to come over and fix my disposal. I was dumping a pot of water in it and didn't realize there was a utensil so yep, you guessed it, it's stuck in the disposal. I hope it can be saved without having to put another one in. Made a horrible noise so I turned it off right away.
Dinner will either be meatloaf or pizza. If I have to use up my hamburger tonight, it will be meatloaf. If not- pizza.
We're supposed to get some bad storms around 4pm so I made sure my parents had dinner plans already so I don't have to go out into the weather. We try to feed them most nights so they don't have to cook, but the timing of this storm is putting a halt to that tonight.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Not much going on here today. I’ve done my daily walk and now waiting for my mom to arrive for her regular visit with Walker. Yep, she says she’s coming to see me, but I know the truth!
DH cut the grass this morning because it’s supposed to rain again this afternoon. The temps have dropped and we will have a few days of temps in the teens before it warms up again.
Supper is undecided yet.

Public holiday here, so not much going on. My cleaner rang me at 8:30 - she was due at 9 - to say that there were problems with the SBahns, as they decided to do repair works as no one else was going to work, and could she please come tomorrow instead? Fine by me - I wasn't planning on doing much tomorrow either! I went for a walk, and DH had to do some work, as people in other countries who don't have today off needed to speak with him.
Dinner tonight is Gochujang chicken with rice - Dh is serving it right now, so have a happy evening all

I’m currently making a tortilla breakfast thing that a friend shared with me from Tik Tok. Start with a large flour tortilla in the bottom of a pie plate, add whatever meat/veggies you like, add cheese, then pour a mix of eggs and cottage cheese (or sour cream, she says) over all that and bake. Slice in wedges like a pie. I’m thinking it will come out sort of frittata-like. Her family and co-workers loved it. I’m using what’s left of my tomatillo pork, plus onions, garlic, and fresh spinach. Cheddar cheese or maybe mozzarella, whatever needs using up. That’s brunch. And dinner. Unless I hate it. scrapmaven, wishing you a quick trip home and your own bed soon. cadoodlebug, enjoy your fabulous trip. Wish I were going, too. Darcy Collins, safe travels to you, too. Welcome home, ntsf. Sorry to all the plantar fasciitis peeps! I saved **GypsyGirl**’s sandal link, even though I don’t have PF.

cadoodlebug are you going to have any room for souvenirs??? I hope you have a fabulous time on your trip. We rarely buy souvenirs. Usually a fun t-shirt or two for DS. And in Spain I bought some nice jewelry as well as in Italy. Didn't take up much room.

cadoodlebug one tour guide recommended bringing clothes you want to get rid of and then leaving them behind. I'm not a light packer. A friend left on a long trip with only a carryon. That will never be me. scrapmaven aw the poor kitties. ntsf I'm glad her friend's surgery went ok. I have a friend who is addicted to alcohol. So hard. Today my allergies are off the chart! DH picked up a chicken at Costco. They are so much smaller than before. Not sure I like them being in a bag now.

ntsf, my friend in Santa Rosa said it hit 100 degrees up there for a minute. It’s 83 here on the Strait. I can’t believe it’s this hot so early in May. The Birdhouse Lady, the tortilla egg bake thing came out great. It was faster/easier than my usual frittata recipe, and tasted wonderful. I like the tortilla “crust” better than the bread cubes or shredded potatoes that are usually called for in baked-egg things. This will be my new go-to brunch recipe. I have the Tik-Tok reel, but can’t figure out how to post it here. If anyone wants it, I guess send me your email address or phone number and I’ll send the link. Here is my friend’s slightly adjusted version of the original recipe, along with my own comments and minor changes in blue: TORTILLA EGG THING 1 large tortilla 4-5 eggs (I used 5 and that worked well)cottage cheese (ok to substitute for sour cream) (I used about half a cup of CC)1 to 1-1/2 cups of shredded cheese (I didn’t measure, just threw on what looked right)1/2 cup of any combination of the following toppings (plus anything not listed that sounds good) -ham/sausage -mushrooms -spinach -peppers -tomatoes (fresh or sun dried) Using a pie tin (I found a deep dish works best), put the tortilla into the pan and press gently (so you don’t tear it) into the bottom of the pan. (It wasn’t mentioned, but I buttered the pie pan.)Then scramble the eggs with cottage cheese (or sour cream), then pour the scramble into the dish over the tortilla. (I added some whole milk to the mix, too. Also salt and pepper.)Begin layering your ingredients into the pan over the egg mixture, ending with the cheese. Heat oven to 350 then once at temperature, add the dish and cook for 20-25 minutes or until it isn’t jiggly in the center any longer. (I had to bake mine for 40 minutes till it no longer jiggled. It came out perfect, not overdone or under-done.)Pull from oven and put on a cutting board and slice up like a pizza or pie into wedges. (I left it in the pie pan for serving/storage.)

I love the idea of doing that, although, girl, how much does your underwear weigh? 😂😂 My friend who travels regularly intentionally packs clothes she no longer wants then donates them or trashes them if they aren’t in good shape. I honestly don’t know how she has any clothes left. Their trips are usually 6-8 weeks. Plus her son lives in Japan so she tries to always add another week on there. Ran errands. Took a dress to the seamstress and she seemed like she tried to talk me out of keeping it/wearing it. She was that way for my DD’s wedding too. I can’t help I’m short and flat chested. She’s shorter than me too so she should get it. I picked up pizza on the way home. That was 3:30 so that was dinner/lunch. I just had to have a snack though. So a hard boiled egg white with a few cucumber slices. I’ve used rescue remedy for my dog scrapmaven. I must not have given enough or it just doesn’t affect her. Does your quilt kit have a theme The Birdhouse Lady

Oh boy, the idea of packing clothes to then be thrown out is strange to me! I don't think I could do it. Last time we went overseas, I went out and bought new undies and bras to take with me, so I certainly wasn't going to throw them out. One of the airlines here had a sale on the other week, so I booked a trip to Sydney for DSO and I in February. I decided to buy the cheaper tickets that only allow carry-on bags, instead of checked luggage, and I am already freaking out about it. Carry-on is usually restricted to 7kg, and when we went to Perth this year, my carry-on was 6.9kg, and that was just my gadgets and chargers, no clothing at all! For Sydney I paid a bit more to get 14kg of carry on. And it will be summer and very hot there, so I am hoping I manage to fit it all in with 14kg. (According to Google, 7kg is 15.4lb, and 14kg is 30.8lb.)
