I bought 20 lb box of Alaskan crab legs and thought I’d do a crab boil for Mother’s Day. I saw this on IG/TT but I don’t have a smoker. We have a grill and I considered doing it in the oven so I could access it easier. We did something similar when I was a kid called frogmore stew but it was in a big pot. I may want to do shrimp too. anyways…Does this look like a decent crab boil? www.instagram.com/reel/C6cmbTPhsfm/?igsh=MXJnNzBtYnBqNzZhcg==

Yes! I was going to recommend that you use a recipe that has Zatarain's crab boil in it. I would use more than 1 capful, but I am from Louisiana. Enjoy!

I have never seen them with boiled eggs before, but I don't see why not.
We like andouille sausage for boils for Cajun foil packs.

We call it Frogmore Stew here in SC I've never done it on a grill or in the oven. I use my biggest stockpot on the stove. Potatoes go in first and cook the longest, then the corn, then the crab legs near the end of the cooking and the shrimp the last 5 minutes or so. I use a ton of Old Bay seasoning on each layer. I try to buy the baby potatoes so they don't take for freaking ever to cook. I made this last Sunday but omitted the sausage this time. If I use sausage, it goes in at the same time as the corn. I steam the crab and shrimp up on top of the corn/sausage/potato layers.

I have no answer since I've never done it myself, but now I'm very hungry!

This is pretty much exactly what I would do. I'm confused by smoking or grilling a boil! Since I no longer have a turkey fryer, I would use a big pot and drain the excess liquid rather than using the strainer insert.

Was I supposed to open the seasoning bags or just leave them floating in the water?

Side note…she has a Cajun Margarita recipe on the site that we like as well.
