Happy Mother's Day to those who celebrate ... including pet mother's! My dd's treated Grandma and I to a wonderful meal last night (I had the salmon) and gave us both bouquets of flowers ... here is mine: I am posting early because my mum and I are going for breakfast at Denny's soon ... I expect it will be busier than normal! It's another beautiful day here ... sunny and warm but last night a lot of wildfire smoke blew in ... not fun ... we'll see if that happens tonight ... I will pick up some groceries after breakfast and hang about the house until my mum comes over after bingo for dinner ... we are having Sloppy Joes ... haven't had them in years so we'll see how that goes! Still thinking positive thoughts for you lucyg! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Happy Mother's Day!
I'm just chillin at home before heading up to church for a Mother's Day lunch. The Holy Smokers are putting on lunch for us and I'm afraid it might be a washout as we're supposed to get some weather today. I'm getting mom a hanging basket for her patio. We were supposed to go yesterday but she was too tired and I'm feeling that the rain may stop us today.
Dinner tonight will probably be leftover meatloaf from last night. I will probably have the parents over for that as they didn't feel up to it last night.
Hope you all have a great day!

I’m having family over for brunch soon and we’re having 2 kinds of quiche, croissant French toast casserole, bacon, crispy potatoes and fresh fruit. karenlou’s dh is grilling fresh kielbasa and she made a breakfast cake! My dd is in charge of mimosas. I’m so excited to have everyone here and enjoy a relaxing day together. We haven’t really done anything for Mother’s Day since my Mom passed in 2012. Dinner will be whatever doesn’t get eaten at brunch, I think! Wishing you all a beautiful day.

Happy Mother's Day! DS made breakfast this morning- over medium eggs, hash browns, sausage, and toast. Dh just put ribs on the pellet grill and I'll make mac and cheese and baked beans later. Ds will go pick up my mom for dinner- we took MIL out on Friday. Special thoughts for lucyg. You have always been one of my favorite peas and I am hopeful that the clinical trial will be the answer. ❤

Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrate from this proud mum and Oma.
We started the morning with a family FaceTime call. DS1 and family were in the car coming home from visiting with Nonna in her nursing home, and also celebrating DS’s birthday which is tomorrow. Sophia was very chatty and poor little Lucia hardly got a look in, though I could hear her singing in the back seat - her current favourites are Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Let It Go! The boys and DH conspired over my present - DS2 bought is and gave it to DH to bring back when we were in Australia at Easter.
After church, we came home and DH headed to the airport after coffee but before lunch. He’ll be In Gothenburg until Thursday evening. Right now at church, we are having a really special time - one young couple had their first baby in March and another are very close to welcoming their first. We had one young couple marry 3 weeks ago, another will be tying the knot this week and a third couple by the end of the month. It is just wonderful to have so many young families in the community.
For dinner, I have some ground beef. I am deciding between tacos or spaghetti.

leannec, those flowers are so pretty. Your dd's are very thoughtful. sueg, did you open your present, yet? KelleeM, enjoy the day w/your family. Tearisci, I hope that the Holy Smokers( I love that name) will be able to do their thing. littlemama, I'm sitting w/you on the bench. lucyg is one of my faves, too. We don't have any plans today. Dh is going back into project mode. At some point we'll do a zoom call w/the boys. We can't use the stove top until tmw night when the gas is turned on. I made a mistake and didn't check to see that my appt. went through, so we had to wait. You have to have your gas turned off when you tent. So, dinner will likely be tacos. I really need to got to the store. Happy Mother's Day to our pea mamas and healing thoughts for those who struggle on this day.

scrapmaven - I opened my present while we were on the call - no way was Sophia going to let me get away with not opening it! It was a bottle of Summer Gin, from a distillery in Canberra where DS2 lives. Perfect for weekend drinks on the patio! Following his suggestions, I have ordered a few different from the normal tonic waters.

sueg, that's a very nice gift. Cocktails on the patio on a warm summer night sounds so nice.

There were people with school-aged kids and older, but none with a baby/toddler. It's good that your church has a good mix of people in different stages of life!

Happy Mother’s Day to everybody, even those who like me, don’t have children of their own, but love their nieces and nephews as much as if they were their children.
We had brunch at my brother and sister-in-law‘s house. My niece and her husband and two boys are here from Florida because of a tragedy. The dad of Erin’s best friend was killed in a horrific crash on our New York State Thruway. It was a horrible horrible accident. He was working for New York State Thruway. They were doing some construction of the roads and an 18 wheeler hit him. It’s awful just awful. I’m happy to see my niece and her husband and the two boys but not happy as to why. So you’re driving on these highways and Construction workers in a construction zone, Move over that’s the law.

So sad about your brother’s situation, karenlou and KelleeM. My dad had Alzheimer’s at 70 and it’s so heartbreaking to watch. Much worse with a younger person, I’m sure. Kellee, enjoy your family brunch. christine58, I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s tragedy. I try to drive carefully in construction zones. It’s such a dangerous job. Happy Mother’s Day, all. Neither of my kids is in town this weekend, but at least they both called. Dinner will be at my sister’s house. Nephew is grilling something or another. In another hour, sister and I will drive over the bridge to pick up mom and some dinner things we ordered. I’m getting a beautiful raspberry vanilla cake at SusieCakes. Once again, thank you all for the kind wishes. You are ALL my favorite peas. I am chugging along. Going away to Nevada for a few days this week. It will be fun.

Happy Mother's Day! And hugs to any who struggle on this day. karenlou and KelleeM I'm so sorry about your brother's dementia. Such a heart breaking condition. lucyg you are one of my favorite peas. ❤️ DH picked up breakfast for me and allowed me to sleep in walking our fluff ball. We are having a low key day doing either takeout or eating out plus going to a garden nursery to get some fuchsias. DH had to work yesterday on his day off so I suggested an easy day. DS sent me cards from him and the pupper and a gift.

Happy Mothers Day friends!
I got a visit from ODS and the grandboys this morning. They gave me some gift cards so I’m excited to do some shopping. I always hated gift cards as gifts but now that I’m retired and on a fixed income, I love shopping with someone else’s money. I heard from YDS but he’s working so not able to see him today.
Walker is in the “dog house”. We thought he was past the chewing on our deck furniture but nope, he chewed in two more spots today. DH is not happy.
We are having my mom over for grilled burgers for supper.

Happy Mother's Day, pea friends!
I talked to my mom on Friday, as I knew she'd be having lunch with my grandma today. DH's mom passed 5 years ago, so we'll probably call his sister and grandma at some point. He's on the phone with his dad at the moment.
We spent yesterday adventuring and antiquing. We probably got a little price gouged on some Pyrex and books, but they'll get used and read. We also picked up some records, explored a small museum at a train station, and had an early lunch while we were out.
Sunday dinner, as always, was fish, rice, and a veggie (corn today), and the week's meal will be beef stroganoff.

went to church.. recovering from a full week of fun. tonight it is up to dh what we are having.. probably take out of some sort. went to church this morning. sang a lovely piece in choir, but sometimes I felt like I was the only one singing (I was the only soprano today). nice grey foggy day.
after lunch, dh helped set up my new garmin mini (it is a satellite emergency broadcast thing).. I will use it when I travel alone and hike/camp alone. not a single kid wished me a happy mother's day.. but they also know I am not into it much. one of their friend's wished me that.
spending the afternoon scanning dh's aunt's pictures.. so I can return the notebook with them next week.
after prompting from dh, my son called me and wished me a happy mother's day

We went out for lunch with DSO’s family. My meal was huge – chilli scrambled eggs with maple glazed pork belly, roti, chilli jam, and Asian herbs. I went to my mum’s for dinner with my brother and my daughter. We got Thai takeaway. I was still really full from lunch, so I didn’t order a dish. I just had a little spoonful from everyone else’s dishes.
DD was disappointed about my Mother’s day present. She had tried to get us tickets to see a singer that we both like, but missed out. Instead she gave me a voucher for Mr Miyagi, a modern Japanese restaurant, with the instructions that I am to take her with me.
DS gave me some flowers. He had planned to get my other present on Saturday after his football match, but he suffered a knock to the head during the match. DSO and I had to go pick him up, and he went to bed when he got home. (It didn’t help that he got home at 3am Saturday morning after a big night out.) I will get the other present from him tonight (Monday).

christine58 , what a terrible and tragic accident. May his memory be for a blessing to all who knew him and I'm sending healing thoughts to his dd and family. ntsf , I'm sorry that you didn't get acknowledgement from your kids, today. I know that it's not a huge holiday, but it's nice to feel appreciated. ((((HUGS))). karenlou and KelleeM , I'm sorry that your brother suffers from dementia. My fil had alzheimers. It started when he was 65 and was so hard on everyone. My heart goes out to you and your family. There's a great book for the families of dementia patients, "The 36 Hour Day". It's a great resource for the loved ones and it is filled w/support and tips for taking care of the patient as well as what to expect as the disease progresses. lucyg , I'm sad to hear that your dad also suffered from dementia. christine58 , my sil is their 2nd mom. She treats my kids like they're hers. From bedrest to the NICU she was a rock for all of us. Then as I became so ill she was always there for all of us. My kids think she hung the moon and so do I. The bond w/Auntie is unbreakable and forever. A great auntie is worth her weight in gold.

christine58 I’m sorry you get to see your family under those circumstances. lucyg I missed your update yesterday. Praying you can go with one of your options. KelleeM & karenlou Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease. I hope you enjoyed your Mother’s Day. My kids were over in the morning. Then we went to a Mother’s Day market where my niece was working. She had her best day of sales ever. Then dh & I went out. I had a salmon salad. We had tickets to the Tina Turner Story. The music was really good but there were too many unneeded scenes too. Happy Mother’s Day.

I don't need mother's day to feel appreciated. I spent the whole week with my kids (and in their mid 30's, not a common thing to happen).. they really appreciate me and verbally acknowledge it many times. I get plenty of hugs and good wishes and my kids will do things for me if possible.
it is sort of a family joke, because we often celebrate holidays when we want to and not on the designated day--it's whenever it works out. when I was young, I would get christmas presents in july.. cause I needed the hiking boots or whatever then..

One of the reasons we left our church is that there was no one in our season of life. There were people with school-aged kids and older, but none with a baby/toddler. It's good that your church has a good mix of people in different stages of life! Our church is not a regular church! We are an English speaking community in Munich, so we draw from the whole city and surrounding areas, not like a normal parish which is usually smaller. We also have a very fluid congregation - while there are some older members who have been there for 50 years, we also have many who are with us for only a year or so, before moving on. It makes for a lovely mix, and new ideas all the time. Some of the older members have told me that one of the founding principles was to be a Family friendly community and it really is. We have a children's choir - they sang at First Communion last weekend - and no one bats an eye at crying babies or toddlers dancing to the hymns.
