Has anyone had this happen - my iphone sent a random Whatsapp message in the middle of an established chat, so it seemed to come from me. It appeared to be a Facebook link; one of the people in the chat opened it before I was able to warn her and she said it took her to "page unavailable". I certainly didn't send it. My settings are pretty tight. Googling brings up similar problems/glitches but these appear to be messages starting a brand new chat, not appearing in the middle of a chat. We do send a number of links on that chat, I'm wondering if one of them had a timed sub link or similar to appear in the chat later.
Any thoughts in Pealand?

I’ve gotten random messages sent TO me. But I’ve never known of one like that that came FROM me. I don’t use WhatsApp that frequently though - mostly just occasional chats with international friends.
I’ll be curious to hear if anyone knows more about what you experienced.

I heard that What's App is one of the most secure ways to message. Then I found out Meta bought it (like 10 years ago). I am not happy, and now don't trust it as much although in 2023 I read an article that says "Because of its end-to-end encryption, we've long considered it as one of the best chat apps for privacy and security, alongside other strong contenders like Signal..."
The fact that it sent a link to FB makes it look very sus...
otherwise, I have gotten messages from WA, but only the messages that I send are what ive seen...

I knew this but hadn't considered it with regard to my query but just yesterday I logged onto FB from my phone and clicked on the notification of a response. I was taken to a Meta page with the comments to the opening post on there, I'd never seen that page before; I use/am forced to use a Meta dashboard for my business FB page but it's not like the page that opened to me. I don't remember if I interacted with it or just closed it down. I wonder if that's the cause of the random message.

Do you have an Anti virus app on your phone .
I would do a quick scan just to make sure everything is okay because you never know thesedays .

For funsies, I would go ahead and change my FB and What's App password just in case - and Instagram as well since Meta owns them and they tend to be linked to FB accounts.
