For the last week, I am seeing myself getting tagged in very random posts of people I do not know. I have tag approval turned on, so I am not actually getting tagged. I remove the tag and block the tagger.
My daughter is getting the same thing. We were wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
I had a couple a day for a few days, and now just every few days I get one.
I have my security settings pretty tight. I have my friends list hidden.
What did I click on or post on to get this attention. I don't really post much at all and I don't post on any random peoples posts.

I haven’t had random tags, but had a few weird friend requests. They all had the same few friends, who were all a mutual friend of one of my friends who was hacked, so I’m guessing that was why.
I have had a few odd follow requests on Threads since yesterday - all female sounding names with naked/partially dressed women in sexy poses. All blocked, needless to say.

I get random (often years after a post) likes and a comment saying stuff like I look like a lovely person, they want to message me etc etc. but not tags.

I see this happen frequently with spam or spoof accounts. Usually the post has a link and something exclamatory like "I can't believe he did this (link)!"
DON'T CLICK the link and report the account.

Yes, there have been a couple friends on facebook that have had their account taken over. I get random (often years after a post) likes and a comment saying stuff like I look like a lovely person, they want to message me etc etc. but not tags. I keep my Facebook pretty private. Only friends can see my posts and comment on them.

Only friends can see my posts and comment on them. This happens on local 'private' groups - local town info etc - apart from that I'm locked down pretty well.

Yes, but just yesterday. It said namesomthing or other tagged you. I did look at the notification. NOT a tag I would be interested in. I just reported and deleted the tag and blocked the notification.

Yes, a few times in the last year or so. I always un-tag myself (so my friends don't see it and click on anything nefarious in my timeline) and then, if it's someone I don't know tagging me, like in a comment on a friend's post, I block the unknown person and report them. If it's someone I know, like the one where you're supposed to click on a link where someone "just died", after un-tagging, I DM them and let them know someone has hacked their page so they can delete the posts and lock down their account.

The tag requests I've been receiving lately are not spam posts, but videos of a certain genre. And those video tag requests have been happening for at least the past several weeks, apparently. I first searched to see what I could find out about it the 20s of April, and I found many other people all reporting the exact type of tag reviews I was receiving.
Unfortunately, to report them, you have to at least see the thumbnail of the video they want to tag you in, which was a bit irritating.
But once I saw it was a "thing", I just stopped clicking on my notifications at all. the first few days it happened to me I was getting numerous ones each day. After 2 days I decided to take a break from FB for a few days and see if FB would work it out on their own, and when I came back all of the notifications had disappeared, as if all of those people's accounts had been removed.
Then I went a few weeks with no more of those type of things at all.
But now, the past 2 days as well as today, I saw one notification per day. I didn't even bother to look at them, so I don't know if they're the same type of videos as before, but I imagine they are.
My personal page is private, but I did belong to a lot of public groups, and I imagine that's where these spam bots were/are getting my name to add to their list of people to try to tag. So I did delete some groups I no longer even bother with, but there are a few local groups that are public that I kept. (And I kept all of the private or invisible groups.) So if my name is being picked up in any of those, I guess I'll have to live with getting a few notifications from time to time.
I'm hoping FB will eventually figure out a way of preventing these instead of just chasing after them all of the time, because there are a TON of the accounts. I realized that when I tried to block the first few.
It might have a weird name like ContentedTree58394 and when I would search that, there would be countless ContentedTree accounts all with different numbers after them but the same avatar, the same location, etc. And each one was like that. So FB will have its hands full of reported accounts if they can't figure out a way to prevent them.

Yes! I am active on my son's high school FB page, and i'll get tagged to buy a sweatshirt or watch a sporting event. I always remove the tag and report the post, and then block the tagger.

Aren't at least some of these tags because you 'follow' that particular group and the person creating the post has tagged all followers? I get many tags in that respect, they are not to me personally as such, just everyone following the group.
In some groups I'm in, the 'owner' has decided not to do that or has told us how to alter our settings to avoid being part of an all-tagged post but i tend to ignore tags anyway so I didn't bother looking sorry.

Up until just now I'd have said no.
But just now, I got notification I'd been tagged - it was for what appeared to be a Youtube video - I didn't click through and watch it. But it seemed like a young Indian (as in East Indian/Pakistani/Persian maybe judging by their outfits?) couple about to dance (although his hand appears to be holding part of her breast).
I didn't accept the tag. Account is classified as a Newspaper, 0 followers, 0 likes lol.
It was my personal account, not my business one.

Was just going to say this. @ everyone (separating it just in case it works on this site) will tag everyone in a FB group. It’s so annoying.
