Good morning.
This might be an obscure reference. Does anyone remember the Dick Van Dyke Show episode where Rob gets attacked by the woodpecker? Well, no one has been attacked, but we have a little guy who has been waking us up and then making tons of noise on and off all day long. He's really getting a beak massage. It's very cute, but annoying at 6am. We saw him going at it, yesterday and he's a pretty bird, very small and very noisy. That's my cuteness story for the day!
Today I'm gonna help dh w/some wiring. He has to go into the attic, but I stand in the room and pull the wire that he sends down. He's installing canned lighting in the living room. After that I think I'll do something fun in my office.
Dinner is rechauffe panko pork chop w/steamed rice and veggie.
What's on your menu?
What are you up to today?
May this be a really happy day for all!

Day one of bathroom remodel done. SO had taken down drywall and the ceiling. Taken the powder puff ceiling insulation out, had cleaned up the mess and taken everything to the dump by the time I got home. Now we can see up in the attic while we shower. LOL We have the sink, toilet, medicine cabinet and shower still in place. Everything else is gone.
I will be no help this weekend so we will be living like this for a bit, but at least it is started.
Again, no plans for dinner yet. We ended up at Culver's.
Birds here start their chirping at 3am. I am not joking. If the windows are open, I have to shut them. They are loud little birdies!

Happy Wednesday!
I'm plugging along at work today. Nothing too exciting going on but I got to do social posts for a chocolate shop so that is fun.
Dinner tonight will be at our local Tex-Mex place for my niece's birthday. I haven't decided yet what I'm going to get.
Hope you all have a great day!

Today is my last easy day for the week. I started slowly, then walked down to the pharmacy to pick up the one prescription they didn’t have in stock yesterday and then back home. It was good that I went out this morning, as we had a sudden downpour just after lunch.
Today is a big anniversary for me - 6 years ago, I came home from a long weekend with friends in England to find a letter waiting for me from the Mammography screening program. ‘Don’t worry, but . . . . . ‘ They had scheduled me for follow up the following day, so I went and had another mammogram, and ultrasound and a biopsy. The doctor I spoke to was fairly certain from what she saw on the screen that it was cancer. I was really lucky - as it was caught early and because of the type of tumour I had, I only needed a lumpectomy and a month of radiation, followed by 5 years of estrogen blocking meds. I have now been ‘clear’ since last September - the anniversary of my radiation, but I just want to say: If you haven’t had a mammogram this year, call and book one in TODAY!
Dinner tonight will be the second half of the vegetable curry I made for dinner last night. It was really good and I hope it has matured since then!

scrappert , we can be buddies under construction. It's uncomfortable isn't it? A shower w/an attic view sounds like it belongs in one of our House threads here. LOL.
sueg, congratulations on 6 cancer-free years. You do so much for so many children and you're very important to a lot of people, including me. I think you should celebrate.
Tearisci, any chance you get to sample of that chocolate? That would be a nice bonus.

I decided that I needed one more day at home to recover from my cold ... there were no appealing job postings so here I am! I'm going to do pretty much nothing today except take a nap! When you all talk about the birds waking you up it reminds me of the magpie's that would screech at each other in my tree filled backyard at my house that I sold ... so freaking annoying! Now I'm not surrounded by trees in my condo so I don't hear as many birds ... Dinner tonight might be a takeout burger and onion rings ... I have a coupon!

so tonight lemon pepper chicken, with left over spaghetti sauce and pasta. and a salad and strawberries. packing to leave tomorrow for 10 days.
so we found out a week or two ago that the new plugs (put in 10 yrs ago) and our hard wired smoke detectors were without power. the electrician came in.. and after 90 minutes, could not figure out how those got power from the panel.. and looked all over for a sub panel. dh finally figured out where there was a junction box. and the guy is coming back tomorrow to hopefully finish the job ..
I pulled out my permit from that job, and the spec list and no sub panel was listed. called the construction company, got the name of electrical sub, called them and left a message.. haven't heard back from them. all the more reason to gut our house and rebuild it.
dh is fully onboard with this. it will probably be a 5 yr process.
my car needs some sensors (currently it tells me I always have a flat tire). and the parts haven't come in yet.. so I will either spend 3-4 hours getting it fixed this afternoon or live with it the whole road trip again. I am driving back to seattle and dh is flying up on monday.
yes.. signed up for my annual mammogram..and colonoscopy and ekg. a summer of fun.
hope to leave by 6 am tomorrow.

leannec. Do you have a money limit on how much you can make before it affects your retirement? We do here in New York State although it’s been waived or rather increased the past couple years to $35,000. I was wondering if it’s like that in Canada too. sueg that’s a great milestone. Congrats. scrapmaven I’ll have to see if I can find the picture of the woodpecker damage on a big tree at my mother‘s house. We could hear it, but we never actually saw it, but the holes were amazing.

Greetings from hot and sunny Oslo! We have a group dinner scheduled tonight at the hotel. Not until 7:45 and I'm starving! Tomorrow we board the overnight ferry for Copenhagen. Having a great time but I keep waking up a little after 3.

I took my mom for her shot in the eye this morning. She’s goes every 5 weeks for macular degeneration treatment.
DH and I went for a bike ride this morning. We didn’t feel like loading them up and going to the trails so we just rode around our small town but managed to ride 17 km.
Last night supper was a burrito bowl and it was very tasty but not very filling. Supper tonight will be grilled steak.
I received notification that I was due for a mammogram and when I called to book it, I couldn’t get an appt until July.

I have no idea what my total income will be at the end of the year ... the fact that I am not working during July and August is really going to make a difference ...

We have a pair of pileated woodpeckers in our woods. They are loud but so beautiful. We also have some deer bedding down in our back yard. DH has scared them when he leaves for work in the morning. The yard has been lively with animals this spring.
Today has been a busy day. I switched out my bedding from my winter comforter to the lighter summer one and get everything washed and put away. Cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen. Then I decided I needed to play so I have been working on my PL and a scrapbook page.
It has been another rainy, cool day. It looks like it is going to clear up so we are going to one of the DGS's baseball games.
There will be a food truck at the ball field and I was told DGS wants to eat there so I guess that will be dinner.

I've been busy all morning.
I went to the Wal-mart to get some potting soil. I finally got my bare root strawberries planted!! I hope they grow, I've never done that before. It is still getting pretty cold at night but I think they will be okay.
When dh and were in Arizona every morning about 5 am I would hear the mourning doves!! I didn't really mind! I mostly get little chickadees and nuthatches at my feeder. They make little peeping noises. I do get woodpeckers, but they are just interested in the suet and not pecking on the tree or house.
Dinner tonight is flat iron steak, corn of the cob, and asparagus.
I am hoping to get a little sewing done today.

scrapmaven I can't remember that episode but loved the show. My mom knew Rose Marie. I was a kid at the time. She invited us to the Hollywood Squares show and took us backstage to meet everyone. sueg congrats on that wonderful anniversary. Today has been a slower day. I need to work harder on my PT and stretches. Yesterday after doing all my PT I was hurting more today. I did do some gardening and looking for some mini trellises. Tonight is leftover turkey and I will make rosemary potatoes and asparagus and yellow squash.

scrapmaven your little woodpecker buddy does indeed sound both cute and annoying! The noisiest birds around here are the bloody cockatoos in the park across the road. They start their screeching at dawn, then start up again when they some in to roost at sunset. The kookaburras are also very loud, but I love the sound of their laughter. If you've never heard a kookaburra's laugh, have a listen to this: I didn't really watch the Dick Van Dyke show, it finished before I was born. I have seen s few clips every now and then. I love him! Mum and I have a tradition of watching Diagnosis: Murder every time I stay at her house. It's such a fun (silly) comfort show. sueg congratulations on your anniversary - what a wonderful anniversary to be able to celebrate!

I had to go into the office to work yesterday (Wednesday). I caught the train in for the first time in months. Coming home, about 10 minutes into my 45 minute train journey, I started feeling a bit off. I felt like I was going to either pass out, vomit, or shit my pants. Maybe all of the above. It was option three that felt the most likely. I went all clammy and had sweat running down my face. I was trying to work out whether I should jump off the train at the next stop, and let nature take its course. But that would mean DSO would have to drive 40+ minutes to bring me a change of clothes. Ugh, what to do?! Thankfully, I managed to make it home without incident, but it was the longest train ride of my life. Needless to say, I didn't feel like dinner when I got home. Later in the evening DSO made me some tinned spaghetti on toast.

AussieMeg , have you ever heard "Kookabura sits in the old gum tree, eating all the coconuts he can see. Laugh Kookabura. Laugh Kookabura. Gay your life must be. HAHAHA. Gay your life must be. HAHAHA"? We used to sing it in acting school and we had to sing it faster and faster each time as an exercise. I hope that you're feeling much better today. Sounds like food poisoning. Yikes.

so did all my errands and about to make dinner. will leave leftovers for dh and dd tomorrow.
my son's and dil's friend who almost died of alcohol liver failure is out of the hospital and back home. they visited him and are trying to be very good friends to him.. support his journey to sobriety.

Rained off & on all day. Temps have dropped too. Came to the lake this afternoon to check on the yellow jackets. The exterminators only have 30 day warranties. Last year they came back in 2 weeks. Worked on my erosion project but I need more plants. Dinner was out at the neighborhood pub. They added a nice new patio but it’s always full of smokers so we can’t go out there. I’m completely intolerant of cigarette smoke. I hate it. ntsf I’d want that fixed too. It would make me nervous. Glad yours is fixed. AussieMeg thank goodness you made it home. What an awful ride home. Speaking of birds and wildlife We took our ring camera down and put it back by our creek. In the last week it’s filmed a heron, ducks, raccoons, rabbits and mink. The ducks are also coming up on the new patio to the slider doors. They must see their reflections. Then they poop all over the patio right outside the door. sueg happy anniversary. I hope you celebrate this weekend. My sister finished her treatment in February and found a new lump in April. It’s yet to be biopsied. Her surgeon is awful. He lets everything go too long in my opinion. I’m still trying to get her to come here or the Cleveland clinics c for a 2nd opinion.

teddyw, I'm sorry to hear that your sister has another lump. It makes me so angry when doctors are dismissive, especially when there's a lump in a patient who just finished treatment. The only good place for a breast lump is in a petrie dish in a path lab. I wish she'd come see the experts, too. I will think benign thoughts for her. AussieMeg, in acting school we used the song for voice and diction.
