Good morning.
Woody is at it, again. That beak must be so relaxed by now.
I'm starting the morning very early with a doctors appointment, due to my big kitty not enjoying being away from home last week. He scratched me hard and it's not looking happy and it's getting painful. So, I'll go in and get a stronger antibiotic cream. I tried to do it via video, but it has to be seen in person. Waste of a perfectly good few minutes.
Then just for excitement I'm going to dump off a bunch of stuff at hazardous waste. Nothing says big fun like the dump!
Finally, I have a zoom call w/a dear dear friend. That I'm looking fwd to.
Dh made himself pizza dough last night. So, he's gonna make a pizza tonight. Easy peasy for me.
What's on your menu?
What is everyone up to today?
May today be a day w/good news and lots of contented smiles.

I am just home from after school care. We are a person down this week, so we scrambled to fill her place every day since Tuesday. I am also in tomorrow, but I was planned for that already to replace a different colleague who has a wedding in Greece to attend. The weather was lovely, so we spent a lot of time outside - half an hour before lunch, then another half hour between lunch and homework. I left at the end of homework - we don't need 3 carers for 8 kids so those who are paid to be there everyday stayed, and me - paid by the hour - got to go home. Overall, it will be a good month for me - I will be there for 10 hours, which at €15/hour means I have €150 to spend next week when my favourite indie dyer has her annual summer sale.
DH lands just after 8:30 tonight, then has to navigate the airport and drive home, so I don't expect to see him before 9:3o, especially if any colleagues are on the same flight, as he will offer to drive them home.
On the way home, I stopped by a few shops - Asian grocery as we are nearly out of Kewpie mayo, the lovely fruit and veg stand on the plaza where I catch my subway, for a pineapple and some berries and the supermarket for a frozen pizza which will be my dinner.

Happy Thursday! It's really my Friday as I took Friday off as a mental health day. It's very stormy here today and there is a chance of flooding. My poor dog jumps every time there's a loud clap of thunder. I don't blame him as it startles me too. Luckily, my day isn't too busy so maybe I can curl up with a book this afternoon. Dinner tonight will finally be the pork chops that I took out of the freezer earlier this week. My parents were going to come over but with the storms, they are going to stay put. I made sure that they had something for dinner so they were set at home. sueg I love reading your posts about getting your groceries daily. I used to live in the middle of DC and loved walking to my neighborhood stores. I lived above a nice grocery store so I pretty much went shopping every day. Also, the wine store in the neighborhood would see me walking past and get out my wine for me. I miss city life sometimes!

Happy Thursday everyone! We are having leftover homemade lasagna and I got all the fixings to add a salad to the meal. Mostly spending the day reading.

I lived above a nice grocery store so I pretty much went shopping every day. Also, the wine store in the neighborhood would see me walking past and get out my wine for me. I miss city life sometimes! I don't always shop daily! We do a big shop on Saturday, for the weekend - no shops open on Sundays here - and I top up as needed during the week. It depends a bit on what I have on and how well organised I am if I shop for 1 or 2 (or even 3) days. This week, I have been all over the place, with Dh away and a doctors appointment and an unexpected work day, so it's nearly every day. Next week - holiday Monday, so no shopping, and planned out of town excursion Friday (yarn sale!) mean I won't shop as much. DH orders most of our wine from an importer in Regensburg, but otherwise we buy just from the supermarket. There are a couple of wine merchants in our area, but so far we haven't been in to visit them.

I worked yesterday and boy was I tired last night...I think my old feet are not a fan of the dansko clogs for work any longer....I must look for something with more cushioning that I can put my orthotics in😕
Just back from the fish market so dinner will be haddock, probably baked stuffed, along with corn and a salad.
I need to take my girl to the vet at 1pm to get her liver function blood work done...she is on a non steroidal, and is old, so they check every 6 months. Should be a quick visit with the tech. I am working on the baby album this afternoon, I have six more pages/months to do and it will be done😊

I took my mom to get her shot in the eye yesterday. This morning when she woke up, half her eye was bright red and the other half was black. It looked like she got punched. So I took her for her B12 shot and then back to the eye guy. Apparently he broke a blood vessel yesterday when he gave her the needle so it’s now bleeding and bruised. It will take some time but it will heal normally.
Currently it’s beautiful weather but rain is predicted for this afternoon. I’m doing some reading and then I’ll go for a walk before the rain comes.
Supper is leftover steak for me and grilled chicken burgers for DH.

karenlou, maybe it's time for a really good sneaker, like an ASICS, BROOKS OR HOKA. Dansko has some really cute patterns, but a sneaker might be better for your tootsies. taylortroop, yikes about your mom. I hope she is at least comfortable. I'm fine. They are throwing an antibiotic at it. Silly cat.

I actually wear hokas for my walking and pretty much every day, when not working.....I am leaning toward trying them for work....Great Minds🤣🤣

The doctor gives the shots so fast that I'm surprised he hasn't had this happen before. I hope she heals quickly!

Tonight we are on an overnight ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen. Dinner was very special for the 22 of us: rack of lamb and cheesecake for dessert. I'm tired, we got 15,000 steps today! Can't wait to share pics! The weather has been unbelievable. It was actually hot today!

karenlou there’s nothing worse than feet that hurt. Then your knees, hips, back… all start too I’m currently on the hunt for comfortable sandals to take to Italy that aren’t too ugly. Unfortunately Vionics don’t work for my plantar fasciitis. I’m open to suggestions. I have Birkenstocks already but sometimes those aren’t enough. Dh is golfing. I may have another grilled portobello burger with salad. taylortroop your mom’s eye probably looks awful.

I have Birkenstocks already but sometimes those aren’t enough. Mephisto - French brand, made in France. We lived in Paris for 2 years and DH walked 20-25 minutes to work. Convinced him to try Mephisto and 10 years later he wears the brand almost exclusively. I've been wearing the Helen for 25 years, still excellent comfort and quality. I also love their ballet flats and sneakers. DD travels to Europe a few times a year (at times up to 5 weeks at once) and last year discovered Naot. Says they are the most comfortable shoe for her. Will be back later to post about dinner. The pet taxi service (me!) has to run pick up DD's dog at the dog sitter and drop her off at home.

scrapmaven ugh, poor big kitty must have been very out of sorts to have done that. I hope it's a simple fix, but I can understand why they want you to come in and actually see it. taylortroop , oh no, your poor mum..... that sounds awful! cadoodlebug I cannot wait to see your photos! And your dinner sounds divine - I love rack of lamb. And as an aside, it was the first meal that DSO cooked for me when we first got together. It's so bloody expensive now though, I haven't had it for years. Although I do have half a whole lamb in my freezer right now.... I was really busy at work. It was about 6:10pm, and I heard my brother ringing DSO's phone (I knew it was him because of the ring tone). He was ringing to see what pizza we wanted. Oh shit! We were supposed to be at their place for my nieces 18th birthday family dinner - oooops!! We had completely forgotten. I quickly logged off and we headed over. Luckily they only live about 7 minutes away. We had pizza, pork ribs, and fried rice.

destined2bmom , I am thinking about you today. Not for any particular reason, you just popped into my head. I've missed seeing you here at the dinner table.

The Birdhouse Lady. I used to not be good at making pork chops either, but have you tried putting them in a brine? I know the one I used I think I found on Pinterest. I’m really should go look for it again. They came out really moist.
