We’re planning to buy a hot tub and are having a hard time figuring out which one to purchase.
We love Bullfrog but there’s a place close to us that gets excellent reviews (and is family owned) that sells Master Spas.
We’ve thought about Cal Spas but haven’t seen one in person yet.
Does anyone have opinions on these, good or bad?

We went with a Bullfrog when we bought ours a couple of years ago, and I do really like it. My husband is the one who researched between the brands and settled on Bullfrog, while I made the decisions of which model we got and chose the colors/finishes.
Do you have any specific questions?

We have a Master Spa - Twilight 8.2 - LOVE it! We picked this model because I wanted the lounge chair. It is my "spot" when we are in it lol.
It was our "covid cancelled travel let's buy a hot tub" purchase lol.
We did also spring for a Deco Smart Top lid -it's metal, so no snapping of foam from heavy snow, and has an easy fold back mechanism so I can lift one half and push it over onto itself, then use the handle to fold it back, and it rests upright on the side of the tub for easy putting back on.
We have had one issue with the spa itself - the digital control panel glitched - we had to go way to the one edge to push the buttons for the one set of jets. Replaced under warranty.
The lid has also recently had issues - one is our own fault. Snow in the winter, the one side froze down shut, and DH was taking the top off for us to use it, and the channel snapped off the lid and stayed on the tub edge. Parts are on the way for that. But one of the main hinges snapped (the one for folding it in half) so they are coming to fix that this week. Still our dime, we are past warranty. But way better than buying a whole new lid!

Thanks for sharing! We looked at Master Spas and there’s a dealer close to us that’s family owned (30+ years) and gets excellent reviews. That is a big plus. I know nothing is perfect and we may have to pay for things but the fact they’re close and provide personal service is a big factor.
The Bullfrog we’re considering would be about $2000 cheaper, but when you factor in the future service, maybe Master Spa would be better. We go back and forth.
(DH’s dad died last fall - we inherited some money and most went into investments - this is our fun money.)

Thanks Gennifer! Did you get the one with the jetpacks? We're debating if it's worth the extra cost. Yes, we have the M8 that has 6 different jet packs. My favorite is the RainShower one, but honestly if it’s just me I often don’t even turn the jets on. (I like to sit and enjoy the seclusion of where I live, so I’d rather not listen to the jets.) As far as the others, I could look tomorrow to see which ones we got and which are my husband’s favorites, if you’d like. But, yes, I know that the customization/moveable jet packs was a huge factor in us going with the Bullfrog, as well as something about the plumbing that makes it more efficient to heat. (Don’t remember what!) He also really likes the cloud control so he can control everything from an app, and he and my kids also enjoy the built-in sound system/bluetooth. (Not me, obvs, since I want it quiet!😂) I do really like the dual loungers in ours, and that’s where my husband and I sit 99% of the time, since we can recline but still face each other and have a conversation. My brother-in-law has one of the ones that just has a single lounger, and they hate it. (I think because whoever is laying down isn’t facing anyone else in the hot tub.) |

Weirdly ~ the store with the Bullfrog spas will let us sit in a hot tub and try them before buying. 😬. I told DH to just pick the strongest ones but no - he’s sampling them.
