Hi everyone! I am doing a bit of kitchen cleaning this morning after cooking some fish on the stove last night ... splatters! I might get together with a teacher friend this afternoon and just hang out ... we lead exciting lives! I am getting together with my girlfriend tonight for dinner (takeout burgers) and to watch Netflix ... again - exciting lives! I posted this photo on Facebook today ... I FINALLY got the personalized license plate I have been wanting for about 20 years! It is the nickname of the first dog that ex and I had ... a black lab named Scully ... her nicknames were Belly and Bobelly ... I use Bobelly for a number of things and I am freakishly happy about this! Do any of you have personalized license plates? How is your cold scrapmaven? What are your plans today? What is on your menu? Have a relaxing Sunday!

Lazy Sunday here.Church as usual in the morning and this afternoon has been planting out the herbs and vegetable seedlings we bought yesterday, going for a slow walk and watching football while knitting (that was just me - DH was reading and looking up when the commentators got excited). It’s the final weekend of the league season in most of Europe, so lots of interest in winners and teams being promoted and relegated between levels.
DH decided yesterday we should go away for a long weekend next week - Thursday is a public holiday and many people take a ‘bridge day’ when that happens, so we’re driving to Mainz Thursday morning and will come back on Sunday when we have to leave the hotel.
Dinner tonight is grilled pork fillet with coleslaw and corn.

This weekend is the first official weekend of summer and Monday is a statutory holiday for most. Since being retired, holiday Mondays don’t mean much anymore but I’m happy for those who get to enjoy a day off work.
I went to the grocery store this morning to buy stuff for my colonoscopy prep. Tomorrow is a day of soft foods and clear liquids, then Tuesday is the bad drink day. Procedure is Wednesday morning.
Today is going to be our first really hot day, up to 30 degrees. The dog is already panting like crazy. It will be a deck sitting day regardless of the fact that the laundry is heaping up downstairs.
Supper will be wraps.

I like your license plate, leannec . Cute story. Mine is just a normal, random DMV selection. Enjoy your day and your dinner w/your friend. This cold really knocked me down. I'm gonna go back to bed in a bit. Oh well, it's just a cold. I do need groceries, but it won't happen today. Dh is painting away. He'll fix himself something for dinner. sueg , your getaway sounds very nice. You had me at coleslaw, one of my favorites.
taylortroop, I hope that the prep isn't bad for you. Some people don't mind it at all. Wishing you an easy prep. Enjoy today, my tribe.

Happy Sunday! Still no power for us. They released a power restoration map this morning and we aren’t expected to have power until Tues or Wednesday. Will be checking into a nearby hotel later this afternoon since the heat and humidity have returned. Fortunately our only damage is part of a fence blown over. Plan to get someone out this week for that. Also placing a call tomorrow morning to start the ball rolling on a whole house generator. Have been trying to talk DH into one for a few years. This latest power episode has convinced him. DD lost power as well, but got hers back yesterday morning. Spent the afternoon over there and was able to get a shower and wash/dry my hair.
Also, DH is having a port insertion tomorrow morning at 9 am and he needs to be well rested for that. They did confirm that his kidney cancer has returned, this time in his right humerus. Fortunately it seems to have been caught early and scans show nothing else in his body. Plan of action is to undergo a round of chemo and then reassess. Not sure what to expect beyond that, but his oncologist is very optimistic. Would appreciate any prayers for him and his medical team.
The hotel room/suite has a full kitchen, so dinner will be things from the fridge we take over there. Have been able to keep it and the freezer stuff cold with dry ice but now any kind of ice has become very difficult to find. Will check in when I have a chance.

Feel better scrapmaven ! I was up early this morning as I went to bed really early last night. It's going to be 93 today so I went to Home Depot and got a few new plants for the patio. It's looking so nice out there! Not sure what dinner will be tonight. Weekends are usually spent at my sister's by the pool and we eat over there. i did put in a grocery order this morning so I'll have food for the week. Hope you all have a great day!

I am fully recovered from working a 12 hour night on friday....Just in time to work 11-7 tonight and tomorrow night...And yes, Kellee I am retired😱😱😱😱
We went out for dinner last night...our cancelled reservations from last week. It was a new local place...just OK, I would be inclined to go there for lunch instead of dinner in the future. All that to say DH will have his leftovers for dinner tonight, and I will have a salad...I do add blue cheese crumbles, avocado, hard boiled egg and low sugar crasins to the salad, so I will get my protein!!
I have made a BD card and will remake the bed and then take a nap. Oh, I have laundry to put away, that DH kindly folded!!
scrapmaven ..Hope you feel better! leannec...Nice plate..cute story to go along with it!! I have a speciality Breast Cancer plate, so every time I renew my registration a portion of the fee goes to support Breast cancer research

I got back from Nevada on Friday but then it was go-go-go through Saturday. Today I finally have a moderately quiet day. My cousin is arriving shortly for 24 hours but he’s no trouble at all. We’ll go pick up mom and then have dinner at my sister’s house, probably Thai take-out. leannec, I used to have a personalized plate that said something along the lines of “tea time,” only not spelled that way because most common spellings were long gone. I guess there are a lot of tea drinkers out there. Anyway, eventually I got tired of it and finally went back to a generic plate a few years ago. I must have had it for 15-20 years. What surprised me was how many of my family and friends said they had trouble identifying my car without the vanity plate, though. They were so used to just looking for that (airport pickups, parking lots, etc.) that they hardly remembered what the car itself looked like. **GypsyGirl**, I’m sorry you’ve lost power for such a long time.

Sorry to read about the horrible desctruction your city has experienced. Glad you had minimal damage and hope your power is on quickly.
Sorry to hear of the cancer reoccurring in your husband's kidney. Did I understand they he also has it in his arm bone? Wishing him a successful treatment and will say a prayer for him to be in remission very soon. {{{Hugs}}}

karenlou, I must tell that ever since dh retired he hasn't worked. That's the definition of retirement. Just an fyi! You can slug me later. **GypsyGirl**, too much going on at once is not OK. You and your dh are in my prayers and I will stand by the doctor's optimism. If you need a friend I'm right here.

Hi friends! Dinner tonight was a slice of pizza, can of cold Coke (which was the highlight), and a Tylenol to get rid of a headache. Bess woke me up at 4:40 AM for some food, then I went back to bed til 5:15. I was at the airport about 15 minutes after my Uber picked me up, and through security in about half hour. I felt bad for the crowd that was starting to form at the airport, as it looked like many of the ID card readers weren't working properly. Made it to the west coast around 1:15, grabbed some of what was left from the staff lunch, and waited around for a hotel room to be inspected. Now I'm in my jammies at 5:35 PM (west coast time), watching Forensic Files. I talked to DH a while ago, and he and Bess are holding down the fort while I'm away. I've missed them since the minute I left this morning. leannec We used to (and, well, still do) have one of the many unique plates Virginia offers. We might go back to the regular ol standard issue in July when we're due to renew, though. DH always said our Sentra was a dime a dozen in the parking lot, so it was his way to easily spot the car. Now that we have a little Subaru, we stick out more than we used to.

cute story leannec - our numbers are random but dh has an Army of Occupation plate (you have to show your DD214 stating you recieved the medal to get the various medal plates here) rymeswithpurple - our cars are all red (the pickup is a bright blue) so they are pretty easy to spot - seems like everyone has white/black/silver vehicles **GypsyGirl** - I hope your power is back soon - I think the hotel is an excellent plan. I'm so sorry to hear the news about Mr **GypsyGirl** - I'll keep you both in my prayers dinner tonight was charcuterie - summer sausage, cheddar cheese, pita crackers, carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi slices, mixed nuts, cornichon pickles, red bellpeppers. Leftovers will be snacks/lunch
