I have been seeing several ads on different SM platforms about somatic exercises and am curious about it. Some things really resonated with me. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I have read that it is usually/sometimes done in conjunction with therapy, but I am not quite ready for in person/talk therapy. Can it be done by itself?
I would appreciate it if anyone has any experience with somatic exercises that would like to share or if there are any resources you have found helpful.

I had a yoga instructor who incorporated somatic exercise elements into some routines. I found it helpful for dealing with stress and grief following the death of my son. I did find that some of the positions and exercises trigger a lot of emotion-- I would just have tears running down my face, for no logical reason. But I would feel calmer and be able to sleep well after those workouts.

It was a lot for me at the time but through a couple of sessions I was able to relax. I was able to breathe and let my brain let go of the noise.
It's a lot of work. A lot of crying and anxiety and a lot not wanting to go back. But it's worth it.

rst and lvlybela thank you, I'm looking for info too. It sounds intense. I was going to do it in my office turned storage room. Your replies show me I need to have at least a corner orderly and stress free.
