Good morning. Yesterday became very annoying and I hope today is much better. It started w/credit card fraud which was easily handled and went downhill from there.
Today I feel better, but will take it easy and I'm so bored w/taking it easy. We have an inspector coming to inspect the HVAC work that was done. Zzzzz. Ya, I'm curmudgeonly today. So not my norm.
Dinner will be homemade pizza or lamb chops. DH is trying a new dough recipe. If it works then it'll be pizza.
What's on your menu?
What is everyone up to today?
May today bring smiles for everyone!

We boarded the overnight ferry earlier and are now cruising to Finland. Our group commandeered all the chairs on the top deck and are enjoying the sun and the scenery. Dinner will be either steak or seafood.

I had a hairdresser appointment this morning so I was out of the house just before 9. It was just me there - only my stylist was working today - so nice and peaceful. Once I was done there, I wandered down to the main town square, doing a bit of shopping on the way. I had lunch as well - it was starting to rain so it was a chance to be inside and not get wet. Then more shopping before catching the train home. It still looks and feels like it is going to bucket down any minute! Dinner tonight will be grilled vegetables. We try and do one meatless meal each week and we have a lot of bits and pieces of vegetables in the fridge, so everything will get sliced up and DH can cook them when he gets home. scrapmaven - I hope your grumps are only temporary.

Mine started out with ants in the bathroom this morning but has been improving since then. Dinner is chopped thai salad (new recipe for us) and popcorn shrimp plus fruit - I think we have blueberries, kiwi, and apples to choose from

I’m off to the hairdressers for a cut, picking up some prescriptions at the pharmacy and then home to start my prep.
DH is in his own for supper and I’m having clear fluids.

Happy Tuesday!
Today has been fairly busy so far. Had a meeting with my boss that was productive although he sure can talk! A 30-minute meeting turned into an hour and a half but all in all, it was good.
Dinner tonight will be blue cheese burgers with carmelized onions and pasta salad. My parents will be coming over to eat with me.
Hope you all have a great day!

It was a hard weekend and a good weekend. We got to visit with many people at the COL. Dad and Mom are now together. It was hard taking Dad from my house, but I buckled him in the front seat with me and we took the carpool lane. He didn't complain that the car was too cold, or about my driving, or about my music selection. After the COL we went to the bar/pizza place and my sister plopped him on the bar. The bartender knew/remembered both of my parents. That was pretty cool. Yesterday we took him to the cemetery. We all had one last hug to give Dad and then he was with Mom. After that, it thundered and stormed, just the kind of weather Dad would have liked.
We are expecting very high winds later this evening, some may be up to 80mph. Yikes. And of course strong thunder showers. Dinner is hotdogs, potato salad, and chips.

Hugs to you, scrappert. Loved your story about hauling dad to the bar. I was planning to make risotto (first time doing it on my own) tonight but my neighbor brought over a bag full of Mexican food leftover from her DD’s college graduation party this weekend. I wasn’t invited but I think it was held in the college town, not very local. So Mexican food it is, and I’ll try to do the risotto tomorrow. Also, I got my first box from www.farmfreshtoyou.com last night just before midnight. It was supposed to be delivered today. I happened to be awake, so I went downstairs and brought it in. Organic local produce, and you can add other things including eggs, dairy, meat, and fancy stuff to the order. I only got produce this time, but I’ll check out the rest.

scrappert, sounds like a very thoughtful and creative COL. I think it's perfect that you brought your dad to the bar. He was probably looking at all of you and thinking, "right on".

I ended up subbing at the high school that my dd's went to ... I've subbed there before years ago ... one of my former principal's is now the principal there ... she's nice but was kind of lame. It was a super boring day of just supervising the grade 11's work on laptops ... snore! I guess I should think about dinner ... no idea at this point! That sounds like a great COL scrappert!

For some of us, the process is every bit as valuable as the product. I had rechauffe of my creamy garlicky white beans with a dredge of herby oil and a sprinkle of roasted pepitas/panko for crunch. Plus a side of broccoli/asparagus dressed with a vinagrette that I also made with the herby oil. And then a couple of slices of toasted sourdough to scoop up the beans.

scrapmaven credit card fraud?! Oh no! Without giving away any details you don't want to, is there a lesson for any of us to learn? I try to keep up with all the latest scams and frauds so that I can (try to) avoid anything happening to me. I've seen too many bad things happen to people. Big hugs to you scrappert . I had to chuckle at you using the car pool lane with your dad strapped into the front seat! Mine started out with ants in the bathroom this morning We had ants in our bathroom yesterday too. Yuk! There were only about half a dozen thankfully, and I haven't seen any more since. And then..... AND THEN! There was a mouse in DS's bedroom. DSO was about to feed the dog, when the dog took of chasing the mouse that had come out of DS's bedroom. My son is a slob, and when DSO cleaned out his room, there was a heap of food scraps and takeaway food boxes, which would have attracted the mouse. He told DS that the dog had caught the mouse on top of his bed, hoping that would freak him out enough to keep his room clean! lucyg I can't believe they made the delivery at midnight!! So if you weren't still up, it would have just sat there on your doorstep all night? That can't be good.

For some of us, the process is every bit as valuable as the product. That's true! And for some of us, like me, the process is tedious, and it's the output that's the good bit! I just bought a couple of new Thermomix cookbooks, and the first dish I'm going to make is cheesy chorizo risotto. I am going to enjoy not having to stand there stirring for 20+ minutes.

I had to go back to the skin cancer clinic yesterday, to get yet another basal cell carcinoma cut out. I am so bloody sick of this! That makes about eight or nine that I've had cut out over the last three years. I've actually lost count. I look at my friends and SIL's who still sit out in the sun all day to get a tan, and I think they are crazy! I haven't deliberately gone into the sun to get a tan for decades, but the tanning I did in my teens and 20s is now coming back to bite me.
I desperately want a shower and to wash my hair, but I have to wait for DSO to come home and take the dressing off, and put the waterproof dressing on. The stitches are on my back, so I can't do it myself.
ETA: Ha! DSO must have ESP. Just after I hit reply on my post, he came home to pick up a tool. He put the waterproof dressing over my stitches, but I have to start work now, so the shower will have to wait.

I'm sorry about your skin spots AussieMeg . ❤️ My mom has them removed and then goes right back out to tan. It's infuriating. Really? That would be infuriating! Is she getting actual skin cancer (like a BCC) cut out, or is it 'just' a pre-cancerous solar keratosis or similar? I just can't imagine going out to tan after having skin cancer cut out. Even my most dedicated tanning friend has finally stopped sitting in the sun all day after having one cut out of her chest. I also have a few friends who have had melanomas removed. That's some scary shit! I'm glad that mine are 'only' BCCs. Nevertheless, I have to go for a check up every six months.

Oh dear - they can be like naughty children, can't they?! I don't think my mum's body has seen the sun, nor been in a bathing suit, since 1974!! But that's more to do with body self-consciousness than sun safety.

We had the yummy tortilla soup with chicken that DS made, along with chips and guacamole. I think I had more than my quota of tortilla chips today, one way or another LOL. cadoodlebug - I loved Finland but we only had a quick stop there; it was rainy (not a downpour thank goodness). We would've liked to see more, but the rain put a bit of a damper on sightseeing although DS & DH did brave the weather and walked around a lot more than DD & I. scrappert - I love the story about strapping your Dad in so you could use the carpool lane and about plopping him at the bar. ((Hugs)) to you in this bittersweet time. jeremysgirl - your dinner looks delicious! I adore white beans...and garlic...and bread...mmmm If I would've gotten a food delivery left on my doorstep at midnight, it probably would've been eaten by deer or raccoons by morning.

AussieMeg , skin cancer is very scary stuff. I'm very glad to hear that you see your dermatologist every 6 months. That way you'll stay healthy. Recall, my mother who avoided the sun her whole life was diagnosed w/a rare form of melanoma. When I hear that anyone is going tanning or using a tanning bed it just boggles my mind. jeremysgirl , I wish I could talk sense into your mother, but she's gonna do what she's gonna do. My dad, after losing his wife to melanoma would go outside and bake in the sun. It drove my sister and I crazy. I know I preach about this every now and then, but when you do your monthly breast exam, that means skin, too. If you have a partner then ask your partner to look on your backside, or use the mirror if you can. Everyone w/skin should see a dermalogist once per year.
