I don’t know what to say about tonight’s episode. I need to digest what happened.
Anyone have any thoughts about where it’s going from here. And we have to wait until January 2025 for the next season
Edit: two hours after it’s over. It was heartwarming and heartbreaking. I have no idea what’s going to happen next.

I have several hours before it airs here. I am sad that it was such a short season. This show is so good. We need longer seasons.

I love this show. I was 😬 and 👀 watching the ending.
Honestly, I did not like the ending. At all.

After a good night’s sleep, I am hoping it was a dream. I don’t really think it was, but I’m hoping! Anything to un-do the ending.

Ok, so I did not get to see the last few minutes of the show because we were having tornado warnings and thunderstorm warnings, so the local news popped in and I missed it!!
I would love a spoiler please???

scrappert I won’t be the one providing a spoiler. My husband and I both said we needed to watch it again to absorb everything. I followed Will Trent by watching the last 12 minutes of The Good Doctor. I’ve never seen an episode before and the ending included a sequence similar to the last few minutes of Will Trent. I was teary without even knowing the characters.

Spoiler: Will is debating on what to do about Angie after he finds out she didn't kill the pedo. Finally he comes out of his office and asks her to marry him. They to a montage of them getting married, having children, living their life. It ends. Will comes out of his office again. This time he places Angie under arrest.

And we have to wait until January 2025 for the next season Edit: two hours after it’s over. It was heartwarming and heartbreaking. I have no idea what’s going to happen next. I started reading the Karin Slauter Will Trent novels after I watched the first season. I had already emotionally committed to the Will/Angie bond being a good thing. But in the books, she is much more of a negative impact.
During this episode, I was really hoping this was going to be the series finale, and that this happy life was going to be Trent's. But the ending is much closer to the reality of his experience as a foster kid--high expectations, huge let downs. And Angie still comes out in a positive way in the series, doing everything she can to protect and help that girl. Hoping they will turn this around somehow to bring them back together... Or am I a hopeless romantic?
Maybe they will introduce Will's romantic interest from the books--the medical examiner? (BTW Amanda's offering Angie a job at CBI is a nod to the medical examiner in the books getting a job there after being romantically involved with Will)

Thanks for your analysis! I haven’t read the books because I heard that Angie was a bad character in them. I hope they can get back together, but I don’t think it will happen. Sometime soon, the medical examiner is supposed to come onto the show.

I have read the books. All the books. I struggled with this show initially. Will is a good looking tough guy in the books and that is definitely not the same as Will in the show. This season I’ve enjoyed. I just tell myself it’s not the same Will as in the books.
If you haven’t read the books, you should. There is an order you should read them in online but if you’re reading, you should also read the Grant County books, too. Sarah’s journey is a good read.

Will Trent has become my favorite show and I hate that we have to wait until January to see it continue. No excuse as far as I'm concerned. I'd much rather have a few episodes appear on the fall and the remainder in the new year.
I knew he couldn't let it go. Once he knew what Angie had done, he would have to put his oath first. It's a great story line. However, I just realized that he let Amanda get away with what she did but not Angie. I'm sympathetic to Ormewood but I don't think he will win custody. I can't remember. Did they both cheat or just one of them?
