Yes, we have the chairs we always sit in, just like Archie and Edith. We have so many routines, just like an old married couple. But then again, we ARE an old married couple. I guess I can’t be that old, because I see myself and DH more like Carl and Ellie (from Up!) than Archie and Edith. 😁 We each have our own chairs that we prefer so no, we wouldn’t even consider sitting in the other person’s chair. He likes his to rock and recline, I like mine that doesn’t do either of those things. We do switch up spots at the dining table though, those chairs are all the same with the exception of who gets the best view. In a lot of ways though life is very routine here. Even the dogs know what to expect and what’s coming next. Like right now for example, DH just left for work so the dogs know it’s “quiet time” in the house for the next hour or so. The TV goes off, sometimes all the extra lights too, and they settle down for a nice morning nap while I finish getting through my slog of email, catching up on the news, checking the weather forecast, etc. Then at night when it’s time to make my kid turn off her computer and get ready for bed, both dogs know they get one last chance to go out (each on a leash, one at a time, always the little one first and then the big one), then once they’re both in, they get two mini biscuits each and it’s off to bed. I started doing that to get the big one out of my spot on my side of the bed, and now when he hears me coming up the stairs with the little dog and the treats, he hops down in anticipation of getting his cookies in his own bed! It’s pretty funny actually.

In general, I don't operate within set daily routines. I would even say that I'm stubbornly anti-routine in some ways.
The idea of always doing a non-work task like laundry on a certain day doesn't even enter my mind. We sit at random seats at the dining table, eat dinner anywhere from around 5:00 to 8:00. I intentionally drive different paths to the grocery store (and go to different stores) just for the variety.
I would never routinely eat the same breakfast or lunch item. The only consistent thing I drink is coffee, and I'm always buying the newest creamer flavor just to mix things up.
I do absolutely love tradition, though, especially around holidays. We must go to a tree farm to cut our Christmas tree, but I don't care when we go, and I definitely don't take it down on a prescribed date.
