I have some fairly heavy Xmas wrapping paper from Hobby Lobby that I'm thinking of using to make a few envelopes. Has anyone tried this?

My luck with lighter weight paper is mixed. It might work. Make sure your mat isn't new and super sticky or you will have a devil of a time getting it up without tearing it. Adjust your settings - do some test cuts (there is a test cut "button" on the cut settings menu -it's kind of hidden). Have a good blade in. I do love Hobby Lobby wrapping paper!

Well I went ahead and tried it and it worked beautifully. I chose the "copy paper" setting - blade at 2, speed at 10 - and used a very un-sticky mat. The Hobby Lobby wrapping paper is just heavy enough to make it work!

Thought I should clarify - I didn't actually mail anything in the envelopes - they're just for some gift cards.

well to be honest many of the envelopes out there now are much thinner than they used to be. I also have used scrapbook print paper for envelopes that I mailed.
