Many of you probably remember my divorce many years ago. For many nuanced and complicated reasons, I decided not to date for a few years. And then it was just easier when my kids were teenagers to not bring extra potential chaos until our lives. Anyhow, all that to say that I have been dating again. It has been such fun. I have felt butterflies and flirtatious and all of the emotions from anticipation to wtf am I doing and everything in between. I am so enjoying this phase right now and I just wanted to share with my friends here.

That's great! How are you meeting people?
I've tried online dating in the past, but it was a bust.

I totally get you. Was widowed in the ‘90s, had a long-term relationship after that, but 20+ years of nothing since. But now I have a boyfriend!! It’s a freakin’ miracle. I couldn’t be happier. He is someone I’ve known for decades, was a friend of my husband’s, who was widowed last year. He is the nicest guy in the world. I am so lucky. Have a wonderful time with your new adventure.

I am wary of online dating but might try it if this current guy doesn’t pan out. He’s pretty fun though and wildly different than me. So I hope he lasts a while lol

I am so happy to read this tonight. I took a lengthy break after my divorce too. I did go out a couple of times with men that friends set me up with, but I would only go out when my son was at his father’s for the weekend. That didn’t go over well with some men, which made the decision to stop seeing them very easy for me. Raising my son was my priority because he was only a year old when I kicked his father out. He needed me. Then when he got older and I started dating again, my son was diagnosed with cancer. It was just not easy to try to be out and acting happy. And this was well before all the dating apps that are out now.
So have you met anyone that you wanted to keep seeing? What is the worst date you have been on so far?

That sounds awesome! I'm single and actually loving it! I have a much younger FWB that I've been with for years ... when I meet someone I am serious about that will end. I am the Queen of online dating ... so many losers and fakes but I can handle it ... eventually there has to be someone normal! I actually went speed dating not long ago and that was so fun! I'm definitely doing that again! I wish I could meet someone through friends and relatives like you but there just isn't anyone ...

Still jealous of your speed dating adventure and SAME!! There are no suitable bachelors in my neck of the woods. 😭 My great aunt (who got married at the ripe old age of 16) told me that my problem was I wanted someone who was "wonderful." Her daughter told me not to listen to her! 🤣

I think you’re incredibly brave!
My long-time SO passed away almost 2 years ago and I am lonely but can not make myself brave the waters of the dating pool!

Have a great time! I enjoyed dating again, and my experience sounds similar to yours.
I took a 7 year break after my divorce before starting to date again, and I ended up meeting a wonderful man in 2020 when I failed at the Covid-forced break from dating because he was so charming. I too didn’t date through most of my daughter’s teen years. I waited until she was 17, driving, and not completely reliant on me.

I tried online dating apps and it was horrible for me. Guys just wanted one thing--and I only got young guys. They thought I would be their sugar mama....lol
I'd like a gentleman and I made it clear on the app but after that they just wanted a quick hookup.
