I’ve been using banana boat light as air sunscreen lotion for my body but am almost out. I might reorder but was interested in hearing what others like. I have also used a Paula’s Choice product and liked it. I want something for every day use that feels like a lotion but could also use something more sweatproof for days when I’m out in the sun for games. I’m also looking for a product to reapply over makeup. I’ve used a coola spray and Supergoop spray in the past and they were ok. What do you like?

I only use sunscreens from Europe and SE Asia. They have kept up with improvements in ingredients and formulas, unlike the US. There have been no new ingredients added to the allowed list here since 1999. My two favorites are La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50+ and ISDN Photo 50+. For use over makeup I currently use the IDN Mineral Brush.

For use over makeup I currently use the IDN Mineral Brush. There was actually an article about this on instagram. I knew it had something to do with FDA approval but didn’t know that a big part of the hold up is that there is a law that says any new drug has to be tested on animals. In other countries sunscreens are considered to be cosmetics rather than drugs and don’t allow animal testing. www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2024/05/18/1251919831/sunscreen-effective-better-ingredients-fdaThat being said, my friend ordered some LRP sunscreens from a French pharmacy and they were horrible. They pilled terribly and left white specks all over me and my clothes.

Does it have a silicone like finish?

I love the Neutrogena line, especially the ones with Helioplex. Not greasy, reasonable price, and great protection.

I prefer a mineral sunscreen. Sun Bum is a favorite in our house. Although last summer dd and I found Coppertone Shimmer Glow. We liked it because it gave us a little bit of color before we were in the sun.
For dh, who works in the elements daily, I tend to buy him baby formula sunscreens. They aren't as greasy or thick and he prefers them.

Does it have a silicone like finish? Do you mean like a primer? I don’t use primers so my opinion on this may not be valid, but I don’t think of it like a silicone.

Thanks! I will order this based on your rave review. Much appreciated. What do you use on the rest of your body?

I got sunburned under my eye last year and went to a dermatologist when I had difficulty healing. She gave me something to help me heal and then recommended Elta MD UV Daily sunscreen. I really like it for my face. A container lasts a really long time. It comes in a tinted version but the color didn't suit me so I use the clear.

It wears really well under makeup, which I have a problem with.

What about body sunscreen products? That’s more of what I’m looking for.

I like Aveeno mineral sunscreen for body. But truly I try to wear long sleeves (oversized linen top or rashguard) and a hat if I’m going to be out in the sun for more than 30 minutes.
For face I’ve been using Biore (the real stuff from Japan).

For face I use the Trader Joe's version of Supergoop face stuff. It does look like a primer under makeup.
Can't tell you anything for body as I, hanging my head, don't use it. I am seldom in the sun. I do use a spray on but couldn't tell you the brand. I am somewhat olive complected, thanks dad!, and just grab the spf 50 of whatever I see as I run through Walmart.

I order from cult beauty and Stylevana. I recently ordered Ultraviolette brand but it seems greasy to me.

Probably not available there, but I use the Anti Cancer Council sunscreens. I have several different types, depending on whether it’s for working outside, playing sport, swimming etc. All 50+ of course. I also use their 50+ tinted BB cream for my face every day in summer.
I have just had basal cell carcinoma number 8 or 9 cut out of my back, so I am very dedicated to wearing sunscreen….. verging on paranoid! I get the stitches out tomorrow.

What about body sunscreen products? That’s more of what I’m looking for. I use a 70 spf from Neutrogena that's a dry spray and sweat proof. I use it when I'm cycling in the summer in MS heat and it holds up. I like that it's not sticky and the sun protection is great.

Just about every sunscreen is shiny on me, because I have combination skin. I like Scinic, which is a Korean brand. I also like Tocobo, also a Korean sunscreen. I just got some Verdio sunscreen(to use as a body sunscreen) to try. It’s a gel, so hopefully not greasy. I like Korean and Japanese sunscreens;they seldom irritate my eyes.
I love Neutrogena products in general, but most of their sunscreens bother my eyes.

I’m a runner and I use the same Neutrogena, it does a great job on my pasty skin. I use the spray on my body and the lotion version for my face and neck. I am often on the water in the summertime (boating or paddle boarding) and it works great for that too.
