For years I swore by Built brand tumblers that I would get at Walmart for about $8. They were awesome. Kept ice around for 24 hours. Well something has changed and the Built cups are now terrible. I'm not a big fan of Yeti. I looked at some Stanley's today and they are just so dang ugly... I dunno. I am tempted by the 20oz Stanley because it says it keeps ice as ice for 30 hours. So, what's your favorite tumbler these days? Tumblers only please, water bottle styles need not apply. Things to consider: -Will be used for cold drinks only -Not larger than 24 oz -Dishwasher safe is a plus but not necessary -Must accommodate a straw -Fits in a car cupholder

I have Tal brand from Walmart, 24 oz. I think it was $10? It does fit in my cup holder. Actually I have 2 of that brand. One is a dupe of the Stanley 40 oz.
I also have a Hydroflask. It's probably 32 oz. I grabbed it at TJMaxx.
Honestly, they all work the same. I always have ice for at least 24 hours. I hand-wash mine. Some of my older ones have probably slipped through and gone through the dishwasher. I just give them a quick wash at the end of the day.

The metal ones are just too heavy and, dare I say, TOO cold! I still love my Tervis tumblers. I use one every day. I only bother with the metal ones if I'll be by the pool and need my ice to stay icy for a long time in really hot temps.

The TAL brand from Walmart checks all your requirements. Keeps ice forever, fits my car cup holder and I put mine in the dishwasher.

Seriously though, there's something about the really cold, crisp taste of ice water out when it's 105-115 here for most of the summer. The original Built tumbler I had I accidentally left in my car while I was in the mall for a few hours. It was 105 out. There was still ice in that thing when I got back to the car. This was around 2016. The Built cup I used today kept my ice as ice for 30 minutes and it was only 85. Not impressed.

The TAL brand from Walmart checks all your requirements. Keeps ice forever, fits my car cup holder and I put mine in the dishwasher. This is what I have and mine works wonderfully. My main criteria is that it be pink and I love it. Keeps my tea cold for 48 hours. This I know is true because once I accidentally left it in my car for 2 days. ( I generally don’t use my car every day ). The price was very reasonable and I like everything about it.

I once had mine fall off the roof of my car onto the driveway and all it got was a tiny scratch.

DH got me an RTIC tumbler for Christmas, and it is great. They have several sizes.
He got me a smaller one with a handle for coffee, but the darn thing keeps it too hot, LOL.
I have been seeing advertisements for a tumbler with a handle that can hold any size carryout cup, and the handle is designed to hold a tube of chapstick and hang your keys.

My first favorite is the hydroflask! Been using it for 10+ years before it came popular. All different styles to choose from. I don’t wash my water bottles in the dishwasher but I imagine you can.
Reduce is also a great brand and love that you can take out the straw and sip if you want too. I believe I saw them at Costco last week and they do sell them at target.

How is the RTIC you got with cold drinks? I tried one a few years back but it didn't keep my ice from melting for very long.
How is the RTIC you got with cold drinks? I tried one a few years back, but it didn't keep my ice from melting for very long.
I have discovered that the length of time my water stays cold depends on many factors: density of ice and ambient temperature, the biggest. The small soft ice from the countertop ice machine doesn't last as long as the big, dense cubes. The former will melt in 8 hours or less, and the latter can last up to 24 hours. And, of course, the more ice you pack in makes it last longer. As with any tumbler, the hotter it is, the shorter the time it will stay cold. Nothing will keep water cold if it is sitting in a car in the 90-degree heat, but I haven't had any problems with it in the house or running quick errands.

I have a Hydroflask with an insulated lid. A insulated lid will make ice last longer than just a plastic lid. It’s also leak proof. There’s a spout that flips up to drink from. I like it, but I find the 24 oz to be just a bit heavy. I broke my wrist last summer and it will never be the same again, so I’m looking for another. Maybe a 20 oz.

We recently bought some Thermoflask water bottles at Costco and they keep the beverages icy for at least a day. I know they also have tumblers similar to the Stanleys too because I’ve seen them but didn’t buy them because we just got the water bottles. I just looked at Costco online and it says the ones they have are 32 oz (so bigger than you want) but they are cup holder friendly and have a straw.
I think the size is going to be the biggest issue because most of the mugs/bottles/tumblers I’ve been seeing around are between 28-40 ounce. The only smaller ones are kids versions which only hold 12-14 ounces. To me that isn’t enough liquid to bother trying to keep cold for any length of time because once there’s also ice in it the thimble full of water will be gone in three sips.

I finally found the perfect (for me) water bottle with an Owala. It has a straw portion, or you can tip back for a larger sip. I really like that the straw area and larger hole are both covered with a cap. That seems more sanitary if you take your bottle out and about around other people who might be coughing or sneezing. I specifically bought it to fit in my cars cup holder, so it’s the perfect size for that. I also slip my finger through the loop on top when I carry it, so it seems less likely to drop if I’m carrying a bunch of other things. The lid is dishwasher safe, but the bottle needs to be hand washed.

Simple Modern Trek, 30 or 40oz. Love them, they fit in my cup holder and keep ice for a long time. I've never calculated it. But I have many of these!!

We love the Yeti Rambler with the top that includes a removeable straw. They keep things cold forever and are spill proof (trust me, if there were a way to spill, I would have found it by now! Ours are the 18oz.

I think I heard about them here and bought a couple at Target. I have a couple of stainless and they do keep things colder but I don’t normally take icy drinks in the car.

I have plenty but of course I want more. This one next, probably. They do have other sizes too. You can drop in a cold drink cup in this one and it has a spot to hold chapstick in the handle and a way to hook your keys to it.

Ours are the 18oz. I literally just bought one of these on clearance at PGA Superstore today lol I hope I like it as much as you do! I held an internal debate for I bet 5 minutes between the straw hole type and the slider sip lid type. I actually prefer most drinks at or near room temp… and I’m hoping this will keep it fairly close to the temp it was when I put the drink into it for a few hours.
