Good morning. Thinking of our fallen soldiers this morning.
Well folks, we escaped the room w/9 mins and 30 seconds to spare. Yds's gf is brilliant. We knew that before we met her.
They're leaving at 5pm, in order to hopefully avoid heavy traffic. So, dh is making pizza for lunch. He'll have a Costco Ramen bowl for dinner or the rest of his pizza. I'm off the hook today. He's making beignets for breakfast.
What is on your menu?
What is everyone up to today?
taylortroop, I hope you ate your Wheaties, so that you're ready to be Super Grandma this week. Have fun w/your grands.
Wishing everyone a happy, relaxing day and if you're outside of the USA, wishing you a fulfilling, happy day.

Happy Monday!
I've had a fun weekend with BFF in town. We have been friends since we were 16 so almost 40 years and even though we only see each other a couple of times a year, we always pick up where we left off. Very relaxing.
We're getting ready to go to breakfast with my family. Not sure what dinner will be tonight.
Hope you all have a great day!

It’s a lovely sunny Monday here. I haven’t had to do a lot - run a load through the dishwasher because I forgot last night before bed, and a wander down to the grocery store. Apart from that, knitting while watching the French Open tennis. I’ve also chatted to the hedge trimmer to set up an appointment for next week.
I hope those of you who have a day off have a relaxing day. We have Thursday as a day off this week and we are making the most of it by DH also taking Friday so we can get away.
Dinner tonight is the leftovers of the beef stew DH made on Saturday. Now I just have to manage dinners for myself for two nights and not have anything leftover at the end!

Hi scrapmaven! I'm glad you had fun with DS and GF. I'm glad you like her too. That always makes it easier. We were at a BBQ yesterday so I didn't really post. We tried to make it home before the thunderstorm. We didn't quite make it and got super wet coming in. So then I quickly put on my dry PJs and got into a good book. I was sucked so far in I didn't want to put it down last night. I had like 30 pages left and could not hold my eyeballs open so I finished it this morning over coffee. I'll post a pic of the book. It was all about weight loss drugs. I'm at this very weird spot where my doctors are duking it out over them. My PC wants me to take them. My psychiatrist is completely opposed. And really who knows if the insurance company would approve it anyway. I'm just hoping the PC will quit harping on my weight when I tell her on the 14th that I've quit smoking. One thing at a time really. Anyway, we will be having rechauffe beef stroganoff. I made it Friday night. I'm going to make some fresh pasta to serve it over. I'm going to veer from my favored semolina and try whole wheat. Otherwise today is about the 4 loads of laundry I have, crochet, another book or two. Jeremy is golfing in a tournament with his friends near Ann Arbor so he'll be gone all day.

sueg , enjoy a relaxing evening. You have a really fun trip to look fwd to. cadoodlebug , may your day in the air be smooth and easy. lucyg , I just read your post from last night. I'm sending you hazmat suit vibes and hoping that you stay well. You do not need to get sick and you're surrounded. May you stay cootie free.
jeremysgirl, quitting smoking is a huge enough task and accomplishment. I am erring on the side of your psychiatrist. Do the meds have any psych side effects? So many people are using these drugs for weight loss, but I wonder if they'll see long term side effects? Enjoy a peaceful day at home.

All of the studies excluded people with mental illness. They do work on satiety signals in the brain so they do alter brain chemistry. There have been reports of suicidal thoughts in some people since they've been being taken by the general public. The European version of the FDA is studying this right now.
I'm afraid they wouldn't work anyway. I've been taking Wellbutrin for years upon years off and on. It helps a lot of people quit smoking and has never offered me any kind of benefit like that. Either that or I'm afraid my brain would be quick to adapt and they'd stop working anyway. I mean the longest I have ever gotten out of a steady mental health med regimen is 3 years. My crazy brain adapts and insists it's just going to be crazy. 😂

jeremysgirl, I think that your psych who knows your brain so well is very wise. I wish that they'd come up w/a med regimen that wouldn't need to be changed every 3 years, because that means that you have to suffer. Suffering even for a bit is still suffering. You're very smart about your mental health and I think that you're your own best advocate.

I did the tetris game and got everything into my car plus a dress form and there is some room (not much) to spare. so now just a small bag and a garment bag and bathroom bag to go in the morning.
doing a small load of laundry.. going out to lunch with brother and sister in law--looked at menu.. very french, so will just have penn cove mussels again and small salad. probably have left over rotisserie chicken for dinner. probably another load to storage locker.
at least it is not raining today.. so that made loading easier.. though the ground had lots of puddles.
it will be sad driving away tomorrow. the house was finished about 40 yrs ago... just as we were married.
will. not post tomorrow as I will be eating snacks in the car.. radishes, popcorn, egg bites at starbucks.. carrots. then unload and put feet up. at least my kid at home is ready to help unload.

I would do terrible at an escape room scrapmaven ... I don't have a mind for solving puzzles or riddles ... I would be useless to my team! I worked a half day today so I'm home now ... I need to get some groceries but I wasn't going there on an empty stomach so I came home to have lunch first ... I will get groceries later this afternoon ... They are mowing the grass on the property right now ... finally! We have had so much rain so it was tall! I have no idea what dinner will be ... maybe I'll see something at the store ...

We made it safely to Minneapolis and are now eating dinner as it's 6:45 in Iceland. We'll spend the night with DS and head home in the morning. It will be good to sleep in our bed tomorrow night although most of the beds on our trip were comfortable.

Popping over to our neighbors in a bit for a bbq - not sure what they're grilling, but they're expecting a ton, so most likely lots of options! Picked up some plants this morning to plant tomorrow. Feeling very summery here!

It has been a rough weekend for me, On call saturday and called in for a "trauma stat" a motorcycle accident to start the summer off with a bang!!! Sunday was my usual 11-7 and I am also on tonight....so No cookouts or other such gatherings for me. I did send DH to his brothers in NH yesterday...No sense in both of us missing out.
My house painting continues...the gentleman I hired is doing an amazing job. Took him almost 2 weeks to scrape and sand, then power wash the house. He had it all primed in about 4 days. Started the painting on friday...and It looks amazing!!! I can't wait to see the finished product!!
Dinner tonight will be grilled steak tips, corn and a salad!!

I was at my son’s house bright and early this morning at 6 am so they could get an early start on their drive to Tennesse. I got the boys off to daycare/school and now their other grandparents are on the job until the morning. I will do the after school and sleepover shift tomorrow night.
My mom had a power outage the other day and somehow managed to erase all the photos on her digital photo frame. I spent a couple hours this afternoon reloading pictures for her.
Supper will be ground beef mixed with small sweet peas, mashed potatoes and a Greek salad.

Went out for breakfast after the memorial thing at the cemetery, and now I have no thoughts about dinner. Most of my people showed up, so that was nice. Those of us who have been exposed wore masks. Picked up a grocery order on the way home, so at least I can figure out something and hopefully not resort to ordering pizza.

Welcome back to the USA, cadoodlebug . Have an easy flight home and easy drive home from the airport.
karenlou, please get some good rest. I hope that the motorcyclist will be OK.
lucyg, I'm still thinking healthy thoughts for you.
taylortroop, good to know that their other grandparents are on the job, too.

This morning DS & I planted all the flowers, herbs, & veggies we bought at the nursery on Saturday - we finished just before it started sprinkling. Then I made a quick trip to Lowe's to get a couple more small things to fill in that we hadn't found at the nursery (sweet red pepper, 2 more cherry tomato plants, and more basil). Anyway, it's all planted, looks great, and I'm beat! We marinated chicken last night that we're going to grill (Barefoot Contessa's tequila lime chicken...mmmm). It has just a hint of jalapeno, which is about as much spice as I can generally handle. We'll have that with some rice and either veggies or a salad. DH installed my two new LED swing-arm lamps above my project desk in my scraproom so I've been resting my back (from all the bending while planting this AM) and working on some paper crafting projects. I'm a happy camper!

Ugh, I just typed up a long post but the board ate it! 😫 Tearisci , I've been bff's w/my bestie for 48 years. It's a gift to have a dear friend for so long. I agree, it is a very special gift. I met my BFF when we were in grade 1, back in 1974. This year we celebrate our 50 year friendiversary! I met two of my other besties when we were in Year 7 in 1980, so we've been friends for 44 years now. Dinner was an Asian feast at MIL's house - honey chicken, pepper beef, pork spare ribs, stir fry veggies, a noodle dish, and rice. This little piggy went back for seconds, and then thirds, of the pork.

We have stayed in touch even though we haven't lived in the same place since we were 12 ... I visited her in Ontario last summer and she is coming here, with her husband, this July! We can't wait!!! Before that, it had been over 20 years since we had seen each other

We picked up some plants, flowers and a rose bush today from a nursery. Just as we were going to make dinner we found our power is out. So we went from steaks, baked potatoes and a salad to salad and nuts since we don't want to open our fridge and I could just pick some fresh lettuce and use tomatoes and an avocado. Oh well.
Just as I was writing this the power came on. Yay. The steaks really needed to be cooked since they were marinating.
