Good morning.
I'm gonna get out of the house and go do something today, but I don't what to do. The world is my oyster. How's that for a plan?
We have rechauffe galore and dh can choose from that for his dinner.
What's on your menu?
What is everyone up to today?
Wishing everyone a calm, happy day!

am off to help at the daycare that my niece runs in her house for a couple hours. She needed an extra pair of hands today. No idea what’s for dinner. I might make my own chicken tenders. Not sure if I’m that ambitious. lucyg I think about you all the time with your recent cancer update. Just wondering how you’re doing.

Back to work!
We worked on the bathroom, found a lead in the roof, so I guess it was good we were in there when it was raining. That should be fixed today.
Ripping up the flooring took longer than we thought because the previous owner was driving in nails to stop the squeaks, so there were nails all over the place!
Slowly moving along.
Not sure for dinner tonight, it may be sloppy joes.

Is this one of those times where you have to leave because of the renos and you don't really want to leave? I'm at home today and I really want to leave. Hahaha...but I also have no where else I think I'd like to go. I'm making black bean tacos for me and BBQ chicken tacos for Jeremy.

I am posting tonight from my brand new iPad - my birthday present from DH. I expected to pick it up tomorrow, but received an email at 8:30 this morning saying it was in, and I had nothing else planned so I went in. It’s bigger than my old mini, and I’m loving the bigger screen. I also have a touch pen, which is fun.
Now for my ‘you’re not gonna believe this’ story for the day. DS ordered my presents from my Amazon Wishlist to have sent to me. Now, when we moved nearly 2 years ago I am sure I changed my address everywhere, but I somehow missed my Wishlist, so the package showed as delivered, but not to here. I decided while I was in the city to go out to our old apartment and see if it was there. As I got to my old station, one of my old neighbors was also getting off. She saw me and immediately told me that she was so glad to see me, as a parcel had been left for me and she hadn’t known what to do. So she let me into the building and there were 2 packets, just sitting on top of the mailboxes! I am stunned that it was still there and glad I have my presents!
Tomorrow I have the appointment for my CT scan, so I’ll be back in the city. I was planning to get my iPad when I was in then, but glad I did it today as it took nearly an hour to do the pick up, data transfer and wipe of my old one and I’m not sure I would have wanted that after the scan.
Dinner tonight is fig and walnut ravioli, which will be served with a herbed butter sauce.

This is a product of going stir crazy only staying home or running errands. I enjoy being home to a point. I also need to get out of the house, too. It's been boring around here and I need to shake off the boredom. It'll get more fun by next week. Then we have some stuff to look fwd to.
jeremysgirl, Does a walk around the neighborhood help when you're feeling stuck at home? Can you work outside w/your laptop or do you need to be at a desk?
sueg, I'm thinking about you. May your CT show benign, easy-to-fix results. Enjoy your birthday presents. You absolutely deserve to be celebrated. scrappert, I feel for you. Too much dust and wood and noise. Think about the beautiful bathroom that you will have.

Happy Tuesday! After 10 days at home, DH has finally gone back to the office! I really needed my house and routine back and am enjoying the quiet and ability to catch up on things in the office.
We have mostly recovered from the storm. The holly trees have been staked and all the debris has been cleared and hauled away. Still need to have the fence repaired/replaced, but it has been uprighted and the neighbor is going to get her fence guy out for an estimate. Just heard from the landscaper this morning that the river birch that was half uprooted is too large/tall to stake and will most likely not survive. Need to get another one to weigh in on it's fate. Not an extra expense I was looking for.
Last week was really tough but we made it through. Still awaiting the biopsy results for DH and should have them any day now. He did the first Keytruda treatment on Friday and that went really well. The next one is in 3 weeks. They also gave him the chemo drug (Lenvima capsules) to start taking. So far no bad effects from that and hope that streak continues. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and prayers.
This afternoon I have a massage that I scheduled 3 weeks ago and I am so looking forward to that. Will enjoy the spa amenities before and after. Fortunately there are tons of rechauffe in the fridge from the weekend so I won't need to cook tonight. Hope everyone has an easy week ahead!

I definitely want to be having dinner with sueg!!!! That ravioli sounds AMAZING!!! Dinner here will be grilled sausage and corn with sautéed peppers and onion and cole slaw .

karenlou slide over because I'm sitting on the bench with you that sueg is winning the delicious dinner race here today. **GypsyGirl** I am so glad that your DH felt up to going to work today. I'm keeping both of you in my thoughts and sending my best wishes. scrapmaven I could take my laptop outside and work, however, my work is like 100x easier with two screens. I'm pretty spoiled that way.

Ugh, it's been a day here already. I was awakened by my emergency alert going off on the phone around 4:30 this morning with the tornado sirens not too long after that. Spent a good part of the morning in the interior bathroom with the dog until we got the all-clear. I'm dragging now.
On top of that, I didn't get the refrigerator door closed all the way so it was open most of the night. I'll be going through it today to toss things and give it a good clean. Oh, and I missed the Wordle!
I have no clue what to have for dinner but I did take some hamburger out just in case.
Can I have a do-over?!

We made it home from DS's at about 9AM ~ woke up on Iceland time. Sorting dirty clothes and looking at many loads of laundry. The good news is that we wore almost all the clothes we packed. But it was much warmer than we expected.
Found out one of our best friends on the tour tested positive this morning so there is a good chance I'll get it. We found out they don't even test in the countries we were in, it's just another virus. I'm not concerned, I just don't want DS to get it as he has his big trip to NYC coming up soon.
I'll post some fun pictures after I get them downloaded to my computer. Dinner will be spaghetti and meatballs as I need to go to Costco tomorrow to load up on fruit.
I've missed y'all and hope everyone is doing well.

I'm leaving in a few minutes for work ... just working the afternoon today ... same school as yesterday but a different teacher ... no idea what grade (could be 7,8 or 9) ... I like going to this school and they seem to like me! I know what you ladies mean about being bored with being home and running errands and doing not much else ... usually that is fine for me but sometimes I get super restless ... I think I need to widen my friend circle ... hmmmmm ... Dinner is up in the air ... my mum came over last night and I cooked so I don't want to do that tonight! I'll decide later ...

It’s another rainy cold day here. We need to see the sun!
I didn’t want to post late last night but wanted to comment on the bestie comments. I have known my best friend since we were 7 years old. That will make it 52 years this year. We’ve been living in the same area all our lives and we try and get together weekly. She’s the one that I’m going in the cruise with in September.
I have the after school/overnight shift tonight with the grandboys. The youngest is supposed to have a soccer game but not sure if it will be cancelled due to the rain.
Making them supper is always a bit of a nightmare so I’m not sure what we will have. I need to inventory their fridge and see what’s available.

Leave room for me on the bench for sueg dinner. It sounds delicious! I understand where you are coming from scrapmaven. I love a few days at home with nothing to do but after that I need to have something other than errands. It helps if I have something to look forward to. **GypsyGirl** I have been thinking of you and your DH. Enjoy your massage. You deserve it! cadoodlebug I hope you guys don't come down with the virus. Keeping my fingers crossed. I missed the conversation on besties. When I was 2, my parents built a house in the country. About a mile down the road was a girl that ended up being my bestie. So, 58 years later we are still tight as can be. The funny part is, I ended up marrying her first cousin. I came home early from work so I could watch 3 of the DGS's. Their last day of school was Friday and DDIL has to work at the school the rest of the week. Dinner is up in the air. Need to help get one of the DGS to a baseball game but it is supposed to rain late afternoon/early evening so I am playing it by ear.

I'm back in the office after a long weekend. My dh and oldest son are still gone on their trip. Luckily everything is calm here. I was worried that we were going to have new claims to deal with this morning but, so far so good!! I have a guy coming over to measure for flooring sometime between 1-5. I am excited to get this started, actually finished!! sueg I hope you are prepared for a house full for dinner tonight!!! Add me to the list, those raviolis sound amazing!! cadoodlebug glad you had fun on your trip!! Keeping my fingers crossed that you don't get sick. I have to leave the house everyday even if it's just to the mailbox. I think the only days that I stay home without leaving are Thanksgiving and Christmas!! I've always been that way. I remember when I was a kid I used to love going to the hardware store with my dad or even just to the gas station. If you need someone to ride with you while you do your errands, I am your girl!! Heck I even ride with my husband when he does snowplowing!! I want to add to the bestie conversation!! I met my bestie the month after I was married. It's been 38 years. We did have one argument and didn't speak for several months we refer to that time as "The Hiatus" I am not sure what I am going to have for dinner. I have been nauseated since I woke up this morning. I am sipping green tea and have zero appetite.

You guys are so lucky to have long term besties like that. The person I thought was my best friend acted terribly after Esther died. It took me almost two years following Esther's death to realize that I can no longer be her friend.

I also missed the beastie conversation. I have 2 that are "old" friendships. First, we met in 7th grade, she just moved in close to where we lived and we walked to school together. We don't see each other often, but we message and when we get together it's like we were never apart. That would be 50 year friendship. Second, we met in college, she was in the dorm room next door. We had are class together. We get together as often as we can. That would be 34 years friendship.

Being a Navy brat, the longest friendship I have goes back to 1961 when I was in 8th grade. We haven't seen each other since 1963 but have stayed in touch all these year. I have 4 friends who became besties when our kids were in K-8th together. They are the ones I made the friendship photo books for. We've been friends for 30+ years.

I decided that I would take my taco filling and eat it as a dip with chips instead. This way I didn't have to warm tortillas. And let's face it, dipping is way more fun.

((((HUGS)))). The Birdhouse Lady, I hope that your nausea passes really fast and that you feel much better. It's such an awful feeling.

When she finally came around last year I decided I did not need her to be part of my life. Dinner tonight was beef tacos.

She wasn't one of his friends, she was mine ... we were best friends for more than five years ... it was so freaking WEIRD! She just dropped out of my life ... oh well! As an aside, we now live in the same neighbourhood but I have only run into her once - at Starbucks - awkward!

Regarding besties I have several that go back over 40 years and we can pick up where we left off. Pretty much all are long distance so it's been more phone conversations than in person. bklyngal62 and jeremysgirl I'm so sorry your one time friends were not there for you. Had a lovely walk and meeting this morning. We had rechauffe for dinner. I'm back to being Mr McGregor and trying to keep the birds off my mini trellises in my fuschia pots.

I was planning on rechauffing the leftover lamb for dinner. DSO won't eat reheated meat, so I was going to tell him to FFY. Then DD, who had just arrived home after a week in Bali, messaged me to ask if she could come over for dinner. My mouth: "Sure, that would be great!" My brain: Dammit, now I have to cook! I was trying to work out what to make that was relatively easy, then I remembered that last time she was here for dinner, she asked whether I could make butter chicken next time. So that's what I did. I really love my Thermomix butter chicken recipe. I don't know if anyone has had the butter chicken from Costco - it tastes exactly like the one I make. sueg your ravioli sounds amazing! And karenlou that flatbread sounds amazing too - fig and goat cheese are a match made in foodie heaven! My sisters are my best friends. I love this! Even though I have a best friend of 50 years, I still miss the relationship that I would have had with my sister. We were teenagers when she died, so we didn't get to enjoy a close relationship as adults. I know that we would have been close.

AussieMeg , my heart goes out to you. ((((HUGS)))). They always say that you know your true friends when times are bad. I went through a very rough period a long time ago. My parents died, we lost other loved ones and I had become very ill, all in a short amount of time. A former dear friend dumped me. She just couldn't handle it. Looking back I hope she developed a spine and ethics. Also, I just don't care, because she is meaningless to me. When someone is suffering it's not about you. It's about them. After my parents it was clear that my sister was beyond my best friend. She was my sister. That relationship is a sacred gift. Your friends should be your soft place to land and vice versa. If that's not true then they're not your real friends.
